Would like to see Cousins go overseas to a club like Sampdoria and learn to become a great player with technical ability, and then come back over to the prem.
Good comments and dont mean this as a joke but how about sending him to Standard Liege for a bit of pre-season training; Belgium / Liege have proved they can produce good technical players of late (Steven Defour / Axel Witsel / Marouane Fellaini are two examples of the Midfielder that they've produced over recent years), imagine if we somehow got Cousins back for 8th August with him in that sort of progressing mold

You do hear from players that go over to these foreign leagues how they find the coaching and training so much more technical and they seem to be amazed at the difference.
I found it amazing at how technical training is for youngsters when I used to watch that TV prog where people fought for a place in inters youth academy. It was amazing to see how they learned tactics, defending and attacking - completely different to over here.

But the South London Press has been told that selling Cousins is not even up for debate and that he will be staying in SE7.

I'm concerned at this. He is as important as the new signings.
I believe he is being moulded for captaincy but am not happy he is not the priority right now.
To be honest - one thing is always the same for Charlton - we leave it to the last minute far too often. We rarely start pre-season with the full squad assembled. We then wait until November before the player is "up to speed after missing much of pre season". Every year its the same.
but if we are trying to get signings over the line and form a squad capable of doing something and are not selling Jordan this window then I don't see the harm in leaving his negotiations until 1st September. In fact, if he can see that we have strengthened and are serious about a promotion bid isn't there more likelihood he'd sign then as opposed to now? Same applies to JBG.
It shouldn't even really get to the stage where a player of Cousins quality has 1 year remaining on his contract. This should have been a priority last season getting him tied down for another 3-4 years. We don't want another Poyet situation in 6 months time when he can talk to other clubs and get his head turned. Let's hope they get this sorted asap.

Hadn't Gomez just signed a 3 year contract, a few months ago ?
Although I do agree, that a longer contract is preferential.
All rubbish. He may be one of our own, but I'm increasingly sure that he isn't good enough for this league. He may have the engine and the desire, but he doesn't have the touch, the awareness or the presence. He doesn't ever run a game. The buck stops at central midfield and it stops with Cousins. Heresy I know but I've had enough of watching his ineptitude. To survive in this team he needs Kashi alongside him to do all his work. Tasked with that role he falls woefully short.
