Is it possible that Nathan is in the frame and bookies are lazy - never heard of him, they must mean Dave? Heard "he's been gone too long" in my local shopping centre, went into Betfred and Wm Hill but neither running a tab for our manager. Worried that shortening odds for Freedman may mean he has an interview. NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
  • What would people think of Freedman if he brought his usual assistant Lennie Lawrence with him?

Nathan Jones is second favourite for the Gillingham job at the moment
  • 1 win in 12. Last home win October 21. One of the worst goal scoring records in SBC.
Bit of a no brainer if you ask me.

  • Afraid Powell and Peeters both deserved the sack. Latter 1 win in 12 ie relegation form.
BP increasingly indecisive with his team in tandem running out of steam let alone luck.
No point in waiting untill April and a relegation battle to make the change.

  • "cafcsinger>Fuck

    Wellwickman
    What's the problem? It's a results business.
Do you really think BP had the nous to turn things around?
BP clearly run out of luck, steam and ideas.

  • Posting late as I am travelling. Right now I am more depressed about what is happening to our club than ever. Three managers in the last twelve months, an owner with a cloud cuckoo version of how to run a football club, only rejects from SL and the other clubs Roland Dickhead owns what decent manager would take over this basket case?

What happens next is probably more critical than any event since we came back to The Valley. The wrong appointment and I fear for the worse.
  • Thread title on CL in the past couple of weeks.

    Boring Boring, Boring.

    Apathy.

Season tickets holders saying they were stopping going to the valley.
The mood at the ground was flat.

The first few home games seem a false dawn now.
To play Bob's style of football you need better passers of the ball. (agreed we need better passer anyway)

We spent so much time without the ball in the first half dozens game, even thou the results were good,
I knew we would run out of stream by christmas at the very latest.

The 3 good chances being missed late on in the 3 home games recently would have made such a difference to not
only our points total but the mood would have got Bob to the end of the season on a wave of love.
If one of them was Cafc1 Millwall0 the statue would all ready be standing next to Sammy Bartram.

What exactly is the worst ?

  • Not sure SHG I suppose relegation (again) and no funding from RD meaning a slow decline whilst he farms all good the players out to the so called network or sells them on. Just feel pessimistic at the moment it feels like a black day somehow. Oh well there's always the minibar!
  • Not one player has been farmed to the network though have they

We let mozza go disagree with it on a playing side agree for him personally

We sold yann been done to death

    Who else has gone anywhere??

  • Making Jacko the boss keeps it in the Network, right?

No-one farmed out to network yet, but isnt that mainly due to wages earnt in Champs being more than Jupiler etc? Could only seriously happen to youth players- and maybe we have no youth players with better quality than SL youth players ?

Nego went to Ujpest - massive loss.

    And Piotr to STVV.
  • Not really surprised, he never seemed destined for a long stay. however initially the standard of football was better but it has deteriorated alarmingly in recent weeks. I would like to see an experienced British manager with knowledge of the lower leagues, say Karl Robinson, but I fear we will just get someone from Roland's European stable. one more bad appointment could see us back inLeague 1

The precision of an assassin? More like the floundering of a man who has lost the plot. He landed a load of useless players on Powell in January and then fired him, for not playing them. He then appointed Riga, who kept us up by also not playing those useless players but getting the best out of Powell's previous squad. He then fired Riga replacing him with a yes man in Peeters and broke up Powell's squad, leaving Peeters short of numbers and experience and, crucially, a decent centre forward.
He has now fired Peeters for failing to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. RD's method of operation should be clear to us by now. His football business plan is flawed and he blames his staff when it goes wrong, both cowardly and stupid.

Good stuff, but I dispute your assertion that Powell was sacked for not playing the impositions. He was surely sacked because we were rock-bottom of the league, incapable of scoring, and had been dumped out of the Cup by a team in a lower division.

As nice as it is that people are trying to find positives in all of this, Southbank's post sums it up perfectly. The only plus since RD took over (and admittedly it's a big one) is what has gone on off the pitch but that's not what we pay our money for.
  • Freedman would be a total wind up, surely.
    Terrible manager.

Who's she trying to fool? She knows full well we won't be spending any money.
"Roland is very busy in January. We place all 150 players, and 24 coaching staff that play and work for the 6 network clubs in 2 hats, much like the tradition of your FA Cup. Roland then lays out 6 separate bowls each with space for 29 names. Roland puts is hand in the first bag (representing the players) and selects 25 until the first bowl is full. He then does this for each club until each bowl has their 25 players for the remainder of the season. I then take the 2nd hat with the 24 coaching staff, and choose 4 to go in each bowl. At the end, Roland and I eat some Godiva and realise that because we didn't separate the balls in the hat, some clubs have no goalies, but 12 forwards. One ball is missing as Thuram rolled under the sofa."

"As we have mentioned, this is a long term strategy, we have hired some Belgian management consultancy specialising in ball separation to help us complete the journey"

Ah ha ! Think I've spotted where RD has been going wrong !

Balls not big enough so they invariably stick together !

    NLA !!!!

    Where are you ?

  • Well Ben Roberts and Damien Matthew came across very well at the bromley meeting earlier in the season,
and Matthew said he wanted to manager one day.

My Idea would be to have Riga and Jackson as co managers
With Fanny Fanackapan to do the team talk Before they leave the dressing room ,
Because at least the players would know what the fans require, is to wear the shirt with pride.

    You flatter me, Sam.

Not sure I'd be able to concentrate on the team talk......

    :-)

A similar thing's been done before...

  • Can't help feeling, maybe just purely out of desperate hope, but that the longer we wait for a new manager to be appointed, the less likely it is to be someone from the network? With both Riga and Peeters, they were announced quickly after the sacking of the previous, clearly having been lined up to come in. Maybe this time RD is actually looking at a number of candidates, rather than just sticking Luzon or any other former SL man into it.

    We can hope.

Not true. Roland himself said he was sacked because they couldn't reach agreement on the football strategy.
  • edited January 2015

So he would have still sacked him if we were top of the league? Unlikely!
  • Its all very depressing. Only one way to cheer myself up.
