A few weeks ago I said it will be interesting to compare Reza with Lee Gregory next season, two strikers of similar age in the same division. Reza scored one goal for us in 15 appearances and played in the World Cup; Gregory has signed for Millwall, his first League club, having scored 31 goals for FC Halifax last year.
Someone on here piped up and told me I was criticising our players again. Some people adore every player in a Charlton shirt - then hate them when they leave. And now there's the realisation that Reza will be coming back.

Let's face it, it was a mistake when they signed him for S Liege. He is clearly not good enough.
He was transferred to us permanently because by January they clearly knew that he would never play for SL again, otherwise he would have been loaned to us. If he's not good enough for a side that was running away with the title in Belgium and not good enough for a side losing most games in the second tier of English football it doesn't bode well for him.
He managed one World Cup goal in a meaningless game that his side lost 3-1, and scored just one goal for us during a period where we played 20 games and scored 19 goals. He was eligible to play in all those 20 games and both Powell and Riga used him 'sparingly'.
If he is earning a small fortune in Kuwait then he is 'stealing' the money. I have no axe to grind and will be more than happy if he scores a hat full of goals out there, but I will be very surprised if he does. He's 27 next month and he has managed a total of 49 league goals in his career. If you assume he broke into a first team at 20 that's 7 (seven) goals a year.
In case it's not obvious, I'm far from disappointed that he's left the building!
If we get Delort we won't even remember him by Christmas. Even if we got Jimmy Floyd H back again we wouldn't remember Reza by Xmas - well apart from one goal and a great game against Argentina.
On what was on show last season, not good enough. One decent goal for us and not much more. Wanted him to come back from the WC all fired up, ready to roll his sleeves up and compete, but he has neither the ability or the stones to compete at this level. He'll recieve alot more admiration and fame out there (and probably more money), so if you can't be a top footballer, why not go somewhere you can pretend and get a decent wedge?
The Reza saga, was all rather weird. I think the only player on Charlton's books to score at a World Cup. He had a good World Cup, by his standards. Yet, he's gone & I don't give a shite.
What sort of quality is the Kuwait league ? I watched a game in Dubai and the UAE league is probably Lower League 1/League 2 standard based on what I saw in that match so I'm assuming that Kuwait is probably worse than that sort of level ?
I would imagine there are a few championship defenders wondering how they would have done in the World Cup given the largely limp, ineffective Championship performances Charlton saw from Reza.
His main service to Charlton is that of having had a world cup scorer play for us albeit fleetingly.

Hope you do great at your new club, purely so you never have to come back to Charlton again, Lightweight, bad hair style, doesn't fit in with the squad, diva, diver, not good enough etc. Score 50 goals in Kuwait and we will all die to have you back again.
The deal is a season long loan with Kuwait paying his wages in full plus paying a loan transfer fee ..... There is a price agreed if he signs for them after the year loan
So in PP and Reza, we get to pay big fees for shit players and then just loan them out? Yeah, that's a new model that sounds like it's got success written all over it. What mugs next?
PP is 20 and has his whole future ahead of him, he will come back and be a great player
I felt like he was technically superior to tucadean but I would rather have tucadean because he is strong compared to the goochanijhad physically and he also appears more driven and challenged here. I think goochanijhad is a striker who has only discovered how good he can be when he plays for Iran, I think he shouldn,t have gone to Kuwait and stayed here until January then see where he is at. If he lifted some barbells and did some more sit ups if think he could have been good. But I won't lose sleep over it and I get the feeling that if we don't get Delort then we will sign a loan striker and everything will be fine. Out of the team last season though I really liked adjarevic and thought that those first ten minutes he was really good and calm upfield.
Jackmasterflash said "Out of the team last season though I really liked adjarevic and thought that those first ten minutes he was really good and calm upfield." Indeedy jmf. If only games lasted 10 minutes AA would have been a world beater. Alas some malicious administrators deemed games would last 90 minutes.:-)
As for Reza I was never a fan from the outset. He spent longer on his arse than his feet. I'm glad he's gone and hope we never see him again.

If that's the type of gift he gives, I wouldn't like to piss him before Christmas and get a shit one..

Could you ever imagine Reza spinning on the spot and burying a chance?
Not a chance Reza is more technically gifted than Tucudean!!
