Account restricted on Boylesports this morning after having £15 each way on Sharjah in the Matheson come in at 9/1... the most profitable bet I've ever laid with them. Bookmakers are having a laugh - you can't get away with more than one or two half decent winning bets before getting turfed out!
Has anyone managed to hold down a high street bookmaker's account without either staking or losing a fortune? If so, which firms?!
Went off 2/1 favourite and came second. Golden Emblem wins at 8/1.
Watched it and thought Sean asked the question far too late. He should have bumped Barnay along a furlong further out at least to keep him up to his work, and you'd have seen a much closer finish. Not the greatest ride you'll see (though far from a disgrace).

It's basically impossible. Suffice to say that one has to have a lot of relatives all with an interest in the racing/football/whatever markets you're focusing on.
You'll also be marked out if there is a specific pattern to what you're betting on even if you're losing at the time (for instance, Asian handicaps in football in a certain way; certain in-play betting systems etc). A friend of mine has been found out for in-play cricket lines on various bookies because they're a smaller market. Likewise, I was restricted by one for a bet on an NFL game spread, after which they subsequently moved it by a point (might have been coincidence and other people also had the same thoughts). Also, if there's a bet that's deemed to be out of character for you they will restrict and cite potential foul play/betting on someone's behalf.
There are no good ways to retain an account, unless you deliberately piss money away, or have lots of relatives.

It's a real shame as although I use the exchanges for win only bets, there are benefits to bookies that I'd like to retain - particularly paying 4-5-6 each way in bigger field handicaps and Best Odds Guaranteed (albeit most have now severely restricted this).
The only one I've managed to keep long term is William Hill.
Given the glitz of advertising and promotional offers I think they should all be made to say on every advert that as soon as you start collecting you'll be out on your ear.

That'd be like the proverbial turkeys voting for Christmas .. we all now by now that bookies (and their tracking systems) are greedy and unscrupulous bastards
Ive had some big wins with skybet and betfair and not been restricted
If that's on multiples then I'm not too surprised. Bookies factor the odd "lucky" multi win for any random customer into their calculations. If your overall profile is still that of an unprofitable better then they aren't likely to restrict you. Also, those two are massive companies so you're generally less likely to be channel depending on stake.
A notable exception is Bet Victor who initially shelved L15s/31s/63s after a guy won 486k off a 63 quid L31. But they then relented.

I won more than £1K on CAFC with Skybet. I've had a few good wins with them & presume I'm well in credit.
I've had a look at tomorrow's racing and... well, there's not much at all there. There will be some big-priced winners and I can see an upset in what looks like a pretty crap Tolworth Hurdle.
At Ayr though, and the 2.40 intrigues me. I'll be siding with Justatenner at 7/1 (each way 1/5 1-3), who has form of 211 round Ayr and is only 1lb higher than when winning over C&D in October. With only eight runners in the race, I'm going to wait til the morning to pull the trigger in case of a late NR due to the ground potentially being a bit iffy, but it looks to be a solid each-way prospect.
Be interested to see what people's thoughts are on the 3.00 at Sandown (anything for us @PeanutsMolloy ?!), while in the 1.50 Moonlighter is a huge price IMO.
As regards the 3.00 Sandown tomorrow..... This has been Jepeck's aim all season after winning last year's race.Still showing all his normal sparkle at home but Anthony hasn't got an answer for two really disappointing runs lately. Trying tongue tie, cheek pieces and 7lb claimer (who is a good jockey and from Anthony's yard) on tomorrow.

Wide open race but I've had a little interest in Seeyouatmidnight @ 20 on Betfair (18/1 on their Sportsbook). Whist now a 13 year old, he hasn't had many miles in recent years and I have taken that he needed the run when pulled up last time. Running off 139, he won off a pound lower back in March at Carlisle, seems to like right handed courses (1-3-1-1) and goes in any going.

Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs ..... who'd have thought? Good luck @Addick Addict would be a great and deserved win for the old fella. Sorry to be slow getting back @PaddyP17 - delayed start today. Actually, I have got a close eye on the race but only re the GN. It's @Showmetheway2gohome's fancy, Crosspark, that's flashing away on my radar screen. Neither for or against him betting-wise today (a strong run should confirm his GN-placing stat-rating one way but a defeat might do likewise if he gets dropped a couple of lbs). Now an 11 yo, he'll presumably get an entry for the biggy, should have a mark to guarantee a run (currently 148) and has been in top nick this season. Obviously many wheels still turning for him and others and will keep doing so for a while yet but, with apparent versatility as regards ground, while he is and will probably remain short of winning calibre, he's looking each-way value at 66/1 (Bob) for April according to my model ........ even if Betfair haven't seen fit to list him on the Exchange market yet! winner on GS off OR135, followed up with a 4L 2nd in the Scottish National on quick
ground. Had seen out the 32.5f at Newcastle impressively
but was tying up at the line over 32f at Ayr (Cloth Cap et al closing on him quickly). Whether
it was the 7lb raise in mark or the effects of a busy campaign or his trip does
have a limit short of 34f is difficult to say but he stayed on gamely up the Sandown hill on testing ground last time out when a close 2nd over 29f. Plenty to make the frame in a GN haven't quite seen out the trip. Pedigree on the damside ticks the box. Wild Risk (via Le Bavard) present and his dam-sire's Be My Native (d-s to several redoubtable stayers, including Native River and 2010 GN 2nd Black Apalachi). One Knight and Death Duty the pick of his family.

gone for Grandeur D'Ame in the Tolworth and Potters Legend in the veterans .. just a few pence though

Myself and two others have also picked out Grandeur D'Ame - it's interesting to see him pitched in this Tolworth, and speaks volumes as to what they think of the horse; the race; or both. Absolute shot taking with Metier rightly a warm favourite, but worth a poke absolutely.

Great bet
Thanks - just a shame it wasn't a "big" bet!!!
Nice one @Addick Addict. Nice way to kick off 2021. Many congrats. Crosspark's near miss off his new 148 mark confirms solid place potential stat-rating for the GN, regardless of ground. Unlikely to be winning calibre but, if you’re capable of being in the mix, who knows? Happy to have taken Bob's 66s (cut now to 50s). I trust nothing daft from the handicapper on Tuesday. COYR
