If Poyet has signed a contract with us, CAFC, RD could not have sent him on loan without DP agreeing to it.
The power is in RD's hands, look what he done to our previous two management set ups.. Poyet didn't take a liking to the new set up early on, I remember him tweeting there was no way he'd go to another team in the network.
RD can't force a player to move around the network though.

To a degree, sure, but no owner/manager can FORCE a player to go out on loan. It's against the laws of the game if not outright illegal I would think. He COULD say 'you will NOT play here, you want games you need another club' (though I doubt he would do that, it makes little sense) but he has no way of saying 'Next season, you play in Belgium. Pack your bags.' It cannot be done.
Blimey I can't believe I read it all. He's leaving, let's let sleeping dogs lie. If he chooses to come out with a statement then fair enough. I know he has been at the academy a long time but I can't blame him for moving on... We'll get some compensation and hopefully next time our club will make sure those we see as talent worth keeping will make sure this doesn't happen again soon.
And, if you want to have a go at someone, have a go at the clubs former owners who let this situation happen
Well if this is true, then what's stopping Roly doing the same to any of our other first team players with a decent sell on value and shipping them out to Belgium. Scary times ahead if this ever happens.
Was willing to wish Poyet good luck and could understand his decision, but if he's gonna start telling lies to save his image then he can f**k right off.
Check his twitter page. Says he doesn't want to screw up his move by announcing it yet. Someone who was at a party with him clearly knows as they asked him to just come out and say it. Sounds like a big move!!
I think DP misjudged the consequences of him 'walking off for nothing' and now feels under pressure to 'defend' himself to the Charlton fans - never more so than at a private party where, presumably, fans would have been drinking and asking him tough questions to answer.
We need to remember that for all the arrogance of the modern footballer they are well aware that they earn more in a month than the average fan earns in a year. If DP signs a £15k a week deal that is £65k a month, he must've felt under massive pressure not to have fans have a go at him at this party - even if he's not read some of the hate aimed at him on here. If we assume that he might, himself, have had a few shandies it is not a big leap to conclude that he thought it better to give some cryptic conspiracy theory that made it look like he was 'forced' out, opposed to admitting that Chelsea had offered him so much money that he would be buying a car before Christmas that will cost more than most of our houses!
I've said this before. I have no problem with him leaving; I have no problem with him leaving for more money; I just don't like the way he and his father have made it look like it look like he was doing the only honorable thing.
And it's a big IF at this stage, that there is truth in the rumour that the Network wanted him to sign a contract and the ship him off to Liege...
What would your thoughts be about that ?
It would make no difference whatsoever. An ex-player has been advised not to renew his contract with Charlton, despite Charlton offering improved terms. It happens. It's in the past.
Charlton have a season to prepare for; Poyet has a club to find.

What did he say, Gary? (sorry no time to look it up and not very Twitter-savvy)
We are a bigger club than liege end of I think! If we was in Belgium league we would be winning the title
Indeed we are. Their average gate last season was lower than any of ours in the Premiership years (27,000 cap.)
These two posts are jokes, right? I'm missing the smiley
I stand by the above statistic!
You seem to be confusing capacity and gate.
But that is hardly a measure of "bigness" is it? Unless you accept that Sheffield Wednesday are massively bigger than us
They averaged 24,000 or so last year when going for Championship/Champions League qualification. We averaged above that in all of our Premiership seasons, when the Valley had a cap of 27,000 (obviously for a few seasons pre-North Upper the cap was 20,000.)
Agreed that you can't just use attendance as a barometer for measuring the size of a club. There are many other factors that also prove we're bigger
Poyet knows that mentioning Liege will get him back into fans good books, just like Kermorgant trying to worm his way out of holding out for a lot more money at 32.
It's footballers trying to save their image, nothing new.

That wasn't what I was insinuating, he can sack who he likes as he has shown. What good would a sacking do to a young players career? If Poyet doesn't like the owner of the football club he plays for, he won't stick around.

All hypothetical at the moment.
What's to stop him picking a bogey and putting it on the tip of Katrien's nose.

Managers/coaches and players are on totally different contracts. Players are very, very rarely sacked because they have a transfer value - managers do not.

Before we start being rude to him, after he's played a HUGE part in keeping us up in the Championship, let's wait to see what he has to say. You're jumping the gun as per usual with your over protective approach. If we can prove what he is saying is lies, then yes slate him, but before he has said anything let alone a lie... let's zip it.
Of all of the nonsensical threads of imagined intentions and conversations, this one has to take the biscuit.
We don't know! We don't know whether RD is indeed sensible, we don't know whether Gus had any role to play, we don't know what terms Diego was offered or why he is moving on or even where he is moving to.
It's crazy to get angry with someone over an imagined slight or to worry about future similar scenarios when we don't even know what this one is!
He's gone, it's a shame, maybe for the right reasons maybe for the wrong but unless there's something to go on then four pages of analysis on invented events is just crazy!
Why don't we all just go and have a beer in the sun and forget all about it?!
Oh can you prove Poyet's words are not all lies to save face? Nah thought not. His word vs Roland's.
One of those has committed to the club and is spending cold hard cash on it whilst the other bails.
So because I can't prove Poyet's words aren't lies, they are? Let the boy speak when he speaks, rather than slating him to kingdom come because we THINK he's lying, without technically saying anything to us. FFS.
I wouldn't be surprised if RD offered Poyet the chance to go to Liege and play Champion's League football in an desperate attempt to keep him.
No way RD's first option was to send Poyet to Liege - I can't see that at all. When RD saw Poyet was refusing contracts for Charlton, he might have tried to persuade Poyet to stay in the Network and to go and play Champion's League football for Liege.

As an aside, why hasn't it been announced where he is going. I'm sure he's decided where to go. Maybe we are still negotiating a transfer fee?
