hmm, not convinced about this, there were a few players who were offered the chance to come to Charlton from SL after the takeover and didn't fancy it, they weren't forced so I'd be surprised if they would have forced him to go to SL against his will, especially during contract negotiations.
And it's a big IF at this stage, that there is truth in the rumour that the Network wanted him to sign a contract and the ship him off to Liege...
What would your thoughts be about that ?
The way to assess this hypothetical situation is to ask the next question. That question is what would Duchatelet have done if Poyet made it clear he didn't want to go to Liege? The answer is they'd have signed him for Charlton if they could. Why? Because once signed he'd be worth more than the £400,000 we're now going to get, even allowing for a buy out clause.
Diego Poyet chose not to accept the deal offered by Charlton to play for Charlton. That was his prerogative. There is no other rational explanation for what took place.
If there is a grain of truth in this then I would imagine it's been heavily twisted into making Poyet look better. Maybe the conversation went something like this:
RD: We want you to stay at Charlton, will you sign an improved contract? DP: No RD: Please? DP: No RD: Ok, if you want to play at a higher level how about signing a contract and then we could loan you to SL, then you'd get Champions League football? DP: No
No chance this was ever part of the plan, he'd be worth more to RD if he stayed here for a year and at the end of the day that's what he wants to do, make money from youth players whilst progressing as a club
Don't see any truth in this rumour, its either Poyet trying to make things sound better for the actions he has taken or the anti RD brigade starting again!
I don't believe it tbh there may of been a deal in the contract saying that if services are require at SL you maybe sent on loan... i cant see RD let someone like Poyet go because he wouldnt go to SL

My thoughts are with the illegal Facebook study indicating that if you post bad headlines then people feel more negative towards the subject matter! (that's CAFC by the way) As it's late I'll speak my mind and state that this is irresponsible tabloid style bollix at the expense of our club to boost your site... Pathetic and parasitic at the same time

RD "Diego, we are only offering a contract where we can move you to Liege when we want" DP " I'm not signing that, would happily sign a CAFC only contract though" RD " Sorry son, not happening, being a successful businessman I would rather lose you for peanuts now than offer that contract and sell you for more money in the future"
Reckon DP will sign for another club then post the truth on twitter
"they offered me shed loads more cash, a longer contract and the opportunity to meet more classy WAGs, whilst doing less work"
I'm sorry I can't log on Twitter at work but did I miss anything? How did this rumour break out? I see from the other thread that someone asked him whether he was forced to join SL and he responded that he'll tell the truth after he signs with a new club. But I don't understand why it's any form of a 'YES'? I remember Peeters used the word 'beg' when speaking about the Poyet situation. I really don't believe the club would 'force' him to go to SL.
Like someone posted above, even if the subject of SL was ever brought up during the contract negotiation, I can't think of anything other than an offer of the opportunity to play Champions League football? Just a (failed) attempt to make the contract look more attractive to him maybe.
The network aspect that has concerned me from the outset is RD's inability to comprehend emotional responses, or indeed anything that can't be explained by statistics. Two way traffic is and always will be a part of the mechanism that RD needs to employ in order to make his plans a success. Thus it seems quite logical to me that RD might want to ship Diego off to SL. It also seems plausible that the Diego camp might feel his reputation requires some rehabilitation. If the rumour is true, then my concerns about the network would increase, if it is Diego stirring things up to protect his reputation then I would think he deserves every bit of mud slung at him.
This isn't true and has been spun to suit certain peoples agendas.
Once it became clear he wasn't going to sign for us Roland did ask him if Standard would be of interest. No official offer was given as it was clear he wanted to cut all ties.
The preference was always for him to stay with us, but if he wasn't Roland wanted to try and keep him in the network.

*Whatever story he makes up/spins to stop him getting hassle on twitter or on the street from idiots who wish to give him personal abuse.

I can then post my answer on ITTV.
Just for balance and fairness.

He wanted to move and he did, any suggestion that he was going to get farmed out to Liege is purely PR from his agent.

Sure he'll kick up a stink when he's off to Vitesse
