When Powell was sacked this was my fear. Some could not understand that it was not Powell being sacked as such that was the issue but why he was sacked and what was becoming off our club.
All them feelings and questions are back and with some proof now. I would be interested in some of the more pro RD like Yanns take on this?
Don't really know what too say, obviously hoping dyer has exaggerated the story (a lot ) it isn't good ready most of it we already knew , it seems some people are happy to be proved right on here which I find quite sad . It will now be interesting to put these quotes to Roland or katrien , I've not given up all hope because Roland has done some very good stuff so far , I'm also not going to panic to much because still hoping Roland has learned from he's mistakes if he hasn't and we start bringing in players of kocs and thurams ability then I'll be gutted because it will show which way the club is going . I'm gonna continue to back the club and hope for some good news soon with some contracts and transfers. Less optimistic yann than usual lol !
cheers.
fair comments. I dont necessary share your optimism though mate.
Not really optimistic but who knows perhaps rd is prepared to let Peeters do what he wants ( i know I doubt it ) but I'm just gonna see what players we bring in ect before I start getting the razor blades out .
The way to look at it J is that English mgrs and coaches don't like that sort if interference And Riga knew what RD was like but still took the job and done his own thing
Bob Peeters will know what he is walking Into and what to expect
Truly appalled by AD's comments, but sadly not surprised in the context. Appalled by how people at the club have been treated. Appalled as to how our future now lies. Where is Richard Murray in all of this?? If he is the self-confessed Addick that he says he is surely he must see what is going on and do something? If I was him I would be secretly preparing some sort of boardroom coup. I would want my club back.
give us at least some hope get Morrison and Poyet signed up.
To be honest I'll be surprised if Diego Poyet stays. Like someone above has said, who will come to us after reading Dyer's comments? Only RD's 'commodities' - sorry, network players will.
can i be in charge of putting all Rolands resistors with the different colour bands into the right pots? Someone else can do the capacitors though, i never quite trusted them....
That's very good! But Roland will probably choose the teams like this!
Worrying read as someone who was more in the camp of wait and see.
That being said im still willing to give the new regime the summer to put their stamp on the club, as just because things were badly handled in a desperate few weeks after takeover, does not mean it will be the case now they have more breathing space to hopefully learn from what went wrong.
If we start the season with a squad full of players who are simply not up to the standard required for a comfortable mid-table finish next season or if RD starts interfering with the actual heritage of the club, then i will happily get my pitchfork and burning torch out of the box they have been sitting in since Pardew left.
I just hope certain posters don't use this article as point scoring on this forum, rather lets have a serious and sensible chat about what we can do as a fanbase, if the worst is to happen.
Will Roland and Katrien ever sit in front of a fans forum or the Trust again? Dyer's quotes need to put directly to them.
Would imagine they will just deny it TBH.
They need to be asked these questions and pushed for responses. Not palm us off.
I agree with you but I dont think they actually care what we think.
This is where the Trust needs to step up, as well as any other fan group and work with the FA and Football League to stop this county losing one of its clubs. What would Greg Dyke say I wonder about a proud, English club being used to develop foreign talent? We need to get off our message boards, Facebook, Twitter etc. and start making sure the club is answerable. How can it be right that Duchatelet does this?
Just read the synopsis & decided to post without assimilating any posts.
Alex is a great guy & has put his future on the line with his revelations. Bless his cotton socks.
Once SCP had been relieved of his duties, it was obvious to me that it was all about the incoming players from "the network". We were told that the gaffer ("of course") chose the team but the doubts remained.
Jose was a beacon of light at the end of a rapidly darkening tunnel & once he had assessed the players & inevitably made a few errors, it became clear that he had decided the "others" were, on the whole, not good enough. That, then became his downfall too. 2-0 to RD .....unless you are a dyed in the wool Addick.
So, our assumptions have finally been confirmed, thanks to another good guy that our owner shrugged aside - presumably in his eyes, for the good of the Club ?
And now, I note that Dorian has definitely left the building. He now knows who his manager will be for the start of the forthcoming season & must also be aware of the presence of a legendary former Addick at his new club. Good luck to him.
Although today's piece will be old news to our current squad, it will inevitably endanger further the possibility of both Morro & Diego signing new contracts. Why ? Well, once this "news" spreads , probably via a small item in the currant bun , CAFC will be regarded as another club where a distant owner has control over team selection & hence our longterm reputation of being a sensible, family club will be tarnished. The 2 fore mentioned players will question whether they will be first choice in future NOT because of their form but on the whim of a man they hardly know. This will surely be the prime opportunity for other clubs to dazzle the players with their array of benefits & security..
Maybe I shouldn't feel as down as I do at this moment in time. Maybe I should tell myself that this isn't the end of our Club as we know it. And maybe I was expecting our concerns to be confirmed in black & white sooner than later.
But it still feels as though a huge "bite" has been taken out of the Club I love, rendering it less "mine" and more "his" IYKWIM.
And I wonder how long it will be before it becomes "ours" again ?
Will Roland and Katrien ever sit in front of a fans forum or the Trust again? Dyer's quotes need to put directly to them.

More to the point, if Charlton are not playing their best team so that they can act as a shop window for their eccentric owner's network players, I think the Football League may have something to say about competitiveness. As I understand it, the integrity of English football depends on teams putting out a competitive team who look to win in any fixture - as usually happens thankfully. Teams have been fined for this in the recent past (and in Wigan's case against Millwall ought to have been). Although of course if the owner lets all the good players leave and just brings in Liege reserves, the club's defence will presumably be that we don't expect to remain at this level. (Not sure that Greg Dyke has a leg to stand on in this though, he wants B teams whatever the top Prem clubs want).
problem is not many people were rushing to buy our club and Roland got it quite cheap,if he hadn't bought us we wound be even more down the swaney,at least he has kept us going, lets hope some of his players which I am sure will start arriving soon will keep us up next season
When Powell was sacked this was my fear. Some could not understand that it was not Powell being sacked as such that was the issue but why he was sacked and what was becoming off our club.

an attempted dig at me? (must try harder)
Unsurprisingly you seem to be missing the point yanny boy.
This is not an issue with the quality of players being brought in. From Dyer's interview and the sacking of CP/non renewal of Riga's contract we can expect that this season under Peeters:
1. If a player is good enough and Roland wants him to play, he will play 2. If a player is not good enough and Roland wants him to play, he will play.
If either of Roland's choices don't play then Peeters will be sacked. That is in my view a big pile of horse shit. The best players play, end of. If Roland wants to pick the team then by all means appoint himself as manager.
Secondly IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO WE BRING IN AS THEY ARE NOT CHARLTON ATHLETIC PLAYERS IN THE TRUEST SENSE OF THE WORD. They are network players. I may sound a bit romantic here but when we make a signing I like to think of him as giving his all for Charlton Athletic, the lad expecting his contracted two/three/four years with us to be spent with us and for him to grow as a Charlton player. Roland has other ideas. He's not interested in players that fit Charlton Athletic, he wants players that will fit the network and spend a bit of time with Charlton Athletic. How long are we realistically expecting any players to stay? 1 year? 2 max? If half our team is made up of players on loan/bought for nothing from S.L, then again, what a load of horse shit. I don't want a new team every year, If you're against B teams then you should be against this.
Now some people may be happy with that and as long as we are in the premiership it won't matter. Well we are not in the premiership, no-where near infact and I am saddened by our identity being lost. Being in the premiership will not make up for that. Look at Cardiff.
I've still got my ST, it will still take me four hours each way to get to and from the valley and I will still support the team. I am just very dissapointed at how all this is turning out
Peeters will come in as Head Coach rather than manager. The days of Managers like Curbs, Powell etc who manage the entire footballing matters recruitment etc... are behind us.
Worrying read as someone who was more in the camp of wait and see.

I really don't like what I've read in the SLP article by AD about the state of things in the club. It does explain a lot of the behind-the-scenes dramas.
However, I still think I need to be in the "Wait and see" camp. It really is too early to draw any conclusions. No supporters get a say in those matters at any club, anyway - it's the owner's call. As at the time of writing this the manager/coach is not confirmed and player business is nowhere near finished - so any comments are going to be made on work in progress.
Charlton leak O'Grady rumour to try to distract from Dyer comments… Not working!
RD should not be getting involved in the picking of the team, that much is obvious. The way it should work is the manager, scouts and coaching staff should identify the players and bring them in. I hope RD has learnt his lesson. The bid for O Grady would suggest that this is Phil Chapple and the coaching staffs choice, although i could be wrong.
I just think it's a ploy to distract from the Dyer story. They did the same with Gradel when Yann and Stephens were sold. Was there ever any proof we actually tried to sign him?

Same as when JJ's contract was announced just after Powell was sacked.....
Exactly.
Also in the SLP - Hamer was not offered a contract until after the Blackpool game, by which time, it was too late. A token gesture at best I bet. Just so it looks like they tried to keep him to shut the fans up.
Dyer has confirmed what a lot of us were reading between the lines. The signs were there some people just couldn't see it. I will imagine the penny will drop when some read the article. As soon as the new manager is confirmed he will have my support, until then we have the right to ask what is going on and raise any constructive criticism that RD has generated by his actions. As Shirty says scary times and possibly a worrying season ahead of us.
It was pretty obvious from day one that Monsieur Duchatalet was a pussy stroking, eye patch wearing nutter from day one with his network of Balkan primary school teams and the EU sponsored social experiment. He's raving bonkers and indulging his not insubstantial ego with our football club.
Powell and Riga should be grateful they weren't fed to the sharks in his private swimming pool in Brussels.
I don't want a new team every year, If you're against B teams then you should be against this.
IF I MAY OFFER A NOTE OF OPTIMISM:
All players are transient. Regardless of whether the period of stay is six months or twelve years, the player in question has an affiliation with the Club and it is up to them to make the most of this. Ask any York City fan whether Nick Pope wasn't a 'York City player' in the 'truest sense of the word' and you'll probably get laughed at. I'm occasionally given to romanticisms myself but it strikes me as unhelpful to designate a 'proper Charlton player' based on arbitrary criteria of contract length, career ambition or bantz with JJ on Twitter. Ultimately, what designates a player fit for purpose is their on-field performance, with the addendum that off-field conduct also counts for plenty. Look at Ajdarevic - clearly popular in the dressing-room and effective on the field, fitness or no. If he's only spent six months at Charlton, I'd still say I very much enjoyed his time, and will regard his memory fondly. He WAS a 'proper Charlton player' in any measurable regard. I look forward to the prospect of others like him.
I'm still not convinced that we've 'lost our Club' - it is still based in Charlton, it still participates in the community, still sources local talent, still competes in tier 2. Until the entire youth system is scrapped and our first team comprises interchangeable loan signings who clearly don't give a toss (i.e. nothing like Ajdarevic), I will have faith in the Club's integrity. I find it embarrassing that so many are projecting worst-case scenarios as certainties based on one man's testimony of what was clearly a tricky transition period in which Duchatelet clearly made some strategic errors - or at least, decisions that did not appear to have much short-term sense - and showed reprehensible disrespect to a club legend.
Let's see. If Thuram returns and plays every week, throwing the ball in his own net - if Poyet and Morrison leave and are not adequately replaced - if selection decisions are consistently made that we all know to be wrong - if the dressing room doesn't gel, then we have cause for protest. HOWEVER, none of that happened under Riga, and I don't see why it would inevitably happen under Peeters. Duchatelet's project is, as far as I'm concerned, interesting, and has the potential for sustainability, which even as low as tier 2 would be quite an achievement. The cast will revolve, but the script remains the same: compete as well and as attractively as we are able in a sports entertainment industry. Sharing resources with well-coached European sides whose youths are taught to trap a ball properly strikes me as a very good way of stealing a march on some of our direct rivals.
There - a dissenting voice, but I'd noticed Grapevine49 hadn't posted yet, so I felt it was necessary.
As an addendum: Dyer wasn't treated brilliantly, and Powell downright uncouthly, but Duchatelet isn't stupid and I'd imagine he's constantly adjusting his vision for Charlton as he collects more intelligence. A couple of tests failed - a couple passed (including the most important one). Let's see how it plays.

The new voice of reason.
Good post, mate & one which has helped this old girl to re-evaluate her thoughts at this point in the close season.
More of the same, please!
