I had half hoped that he would become our manager because he would have guarded the club as best as he could.
I really worry what will happen now. Roland must have realised that he wont be able to do with us what he did to standered whch was shift players from other clubs he owns for free to us because the championship is too difficult a league. It may meant that he wants to exploit our academy and turn us into a sort of feeder club (by either using money he gets from our academy players for standered's needs or giving graduates directly to them as he earlier suggested) which I dont believe was his original plan. This would result in us being relegated and being thrown into chaos as the fans throw a tantrum (on charlton life obviously). this could end up meaning we are robbed of some of our best players and then he sells us on before he draws too much media attention to himself.
I know its a pessimistic overview, but Im really worried that this or something very similer will happen and that its not a worst case scenario anymore. There is something i really dont trust about Roland and Katrien. Almost as if they are trying to charm us a bit before they do their dirty work.
With you on this DMC, don't trust these at all. Yes he might have saved us from possible administration but at what cost ? After selling YK & Stephens & not adequately replacing them we're told that they admit they may have made a mistake. Now it looks as though Hamer, Morrison & Dervite will be allowed to walk away & surely Poyet will follow. Does anybody seriously believe that we will bring in better or equal quality for less money than what they are on ? What then "sorry we made another mistake" as we slip back to league 1? It just seems he wants to get rid of all the experienced players in some bizarre kind of experiment. Quite where JJ with his 2 year contract fits into all of this I don't know, Player/manager maybe ?
If we hadn't sold Dale and Yann then presumably they could have also done a Dervite and left on a free, that's what happens when you inherit players with 6 months left on their contract.
Roland can't have any of the previous regime at each of the key jobs in Charlton, he needs his men at all the important roles so that HE can control the team. Dyer was never going to last being such a good friend of CP's. An article on the OS thanking him would be nice, he did help get us promoted and keep us in the Championship, an overlooked task.
We had a thanks to Powell thread when he left - seeing as we have lost Dyer and Riga - maybe we should give them a thread each on which we can reflect our gratitude.
Just read it.Here's my synopsis ,I am bound to have missed bits.
Headline 'Dyer lifts lid on boss exit :Powell constantly pestered by Duchalet'
He says Powell had no control over the players coming in. He gave Nego as an example. He then describes Duchalet as always 'being on him' and constantly sending emails and telephoning asking why network players were not playing. In the face of this SCP had made a 'bold statement' by not playing them.
He then reports that he advised Riga on team selection and that he gave Jose 'honesty' even though he was not 'expecting' to remain at the club. He believes that similarly that Riga was not given the job because of the fact that he too didn't use the network players except for AA and Reza although he notes that neither could last 90 minutes.
Dyer says that he was always confident that 'we would never go down' and that SCP left with a 'clear conscience'. He describes Roland as needing 'to change his ways' because in Dyer's opinion he sees the players as 'commodities'. The next part is speaking about the scouting methods favoured by our new owner. Apparently the network has three or four scouts who rarely attend games but watch 'WyScout or tapes and then look at stats . He describes new players coming in and 'expecting' to play because they have been 'told' they will. He says no consideration is given to factors like how they train and integrate with the dressing room.

Sounds like Alex Dyer has done us a service by going on the record with some of the things that have been swirling around since March and which form the basis of much of the scepticism about the future.
Without Roland we'd be in admin so we should be grateful he's here.
Thuram will come good.
New pitch.
Wibble.
Agree but it does vindicate some of what has been said by others. Not that fussed about the "being on top of Powell" it happens when a manager does not have his bosses full confidence, but the scouting and comments about players being told they will play regardless is of concern, still does not explain the change of heart with Riga.
Oh well lets hope he brings some players in who fit in the dressing room and justify any promises to play.

If only everyone was so open and honest about problems within the club.
Well, that has confirmed people's worrying suspicions. In fact it has probably enhanced them.
Fair play to Dyer. Ultimately he and Powell put their future at the club second to their integrity and doing the right thing. And people questioned this after Powells interview on Talksport.
Although I've had reservations about RDs involvement I've tried to remain as positive as I can. I cnat see why Dyer would say anything other than the truth.
Well, that does change a few things in my mind at least. We've had the smoke, here's the fire. Be interesting to see what our shiny new communications team come up with now.
Could end up like Hearts , look wots happened to them , The owners or owner should never get involved with the playing side of things , CAFC as a club doesnt seem the same anymore , i will always support the club and who ever is in charge ,but i really do not like the way things are being run.
Much easier for Dyer to spill the beans. Powell could never do it for fear of being labelled as "sour grapes" and jeopardising future employment. Dyer on the other hand will probably always get another job by moving with a manager such as Powell.

save him some money ...seems AD has no other motive but to tell the truth ...feel very depressed
What's the article on Hamer too? From the edge of it, am I right in thinking he said he didn't really want to leave?
That was even more stronger than frank than i was expecting.

Worrying.
Maybe we will realise that we have already seen the future !
Fair play to Dyer though, he has gone up in my estimation for not sacrificing his principles in return for a possible contract.
"I looked Riga in the eye and told him those new guys were not enough"
Just like the 15000 supporters had been saying for 6 weeks !
