We'd be safe already with him imo, this merry-go-round of strikers would not be such a problem, it'd be just finding the right partner to go ahead of Kerm. This stage last year that man was Obika, we have him. We don't have the player that done all his donkey work for him so why we even bothered getting Obika I have no idea.
From what I understand, if Kermorgant truely wanted to stay with Charlton. All he had to do was play and trigger an automatic contract extension. So was he pushed or did he just bail?
Five league goals in seventeen games plus four sub appearances.Three FA goals in two appearances. Our top scorer of players still with us is Church with three league goals two FA cup goals and two league Cup goals.
With Kermorgant in the side we scored 19 from 21 League games
Without Kermorgant we've scored 12 from 21 League games.
That's what I'm talking about. Even if you disregard how many goals Kermo scored himself - we played a better game up front with him. 12 in 21 games truly dire.
Mate, I will never let them forget it or get over it, or stop posting on here about YK until we are safe for the season.
The board may have bought some peoples memory with a poxy free programme and a message from Andy Hughes on the screen, but I stand defiant like the Frenchman himself !
The board messed up big time and they need to be constantly reminded of it.
Yann could hold the ball up and that would take so much pressure of the midfield and defence. Every other striker can't trap or control anything. The strikers we have atmo are not fit to lace his boots and was a criminal decision to sell him and NOT REPLACE him with anyone.
Basically Kev, no one really agrees with you. Selling Kermorgant was a terrible decision that may still see us relegated. The replacements, Reza and parzsyscek (sp) have scored one goal between them.

Sums it all up... if we go down best place is a dark room... but we are not going down so good to look at the challenge over the summer to put this right and make CAFC a top 30 club again.
Since Riga came in we have had one real screw up result last Tuesday and we are edging (all too slowly) to safety. Bottom line is we are going to do it without Kermorgant (or Stephens) because the players we have are good enought to get the final four or five points needed from four games.
And yes the board need to be constantly reminded that CAFC need decent strikers - it's the only way to make this club successful again!
Wonder if any other teams eulogise a player that refuses to play for the club and then holds the chairman hostage for more money at 32 years old?
Be annoyed at the lack of adequate replacement, but Yann is no legend.
Do leave off. Happens all the time. This is football. not the post office
So if I pop onto the Thuram thread no one minded? Just happens all the time!
Look. Kermorgant ,quite rightly, only asked for what he thought he was worth. He felt that he was an asset worth keeping. And he was bloody well right. Goals, attacking prowess...whatever.We have absolutely nothing of the sort in our midst now.Roland cutting his nose off to spite his face may have looked clever at the time but it will have a catastrophic effect on this football club. And to top it all off, and to show just how silly this whole shower is they then go and offer a 31 year old a new 2 year deal. Now I love Jacko. But out of the two ,I know who I would rather have kept.

Partly because the lad who was described as some form of replacement (at about £800k) isn't actually ready for first team football in the Championship. That's no fault of Piotr, and I hope that when he eventually is ready, that he does well - he'll have my full support anyway.
Reza, on the other hand, looks good - but once again - didn't seem quite ready for the physicality of the league. He may be looking a bit sharper now; but if he was paired up with someone who could make space for him whilst dealing with the physical side of the game? I think he'd be lethal.
You couldn't make it up really - you sell your best goal scorer and replace him with a lad who isn't ready to play, and one that really needs a strong partner... like the guy you just sold.

You were there to witness this hostage taking, were you? Or do you just believe somebody else on here who told you this?
For the record
- YK is on £15k at Bournemouth. He has told people that he would have stayed here for less - Noel Hunt, who is the same age as YK give or take a few months, is on 25k.
You are a 32 year old father of two. You have maybe three more years of your career left. If you knew you are being paid less than half what other people who are paid who do your job at other companies (and don't seem to do it so well) what would YOU do?
He was getting votes for POTY today. We might need to invite if he finshes in the top 3. Be funny if he won the to award at both clubs. Don't suppose its ever happened before that a player has won the award at two clubs in the same season.
Suspect Graban has probably got it sewn up in Bournemouth's case
I was jusk saying tounge cheek but Graban probably has it. But then again they might have a defender who has continued to impress their fans. We are just outsiders looking in.
The bottom line is that we should not have sold Yann unless we had a nailed on replacement ready to take his place, like Becchio or someone else of that proven Championship quality.
RD gambled that Reza and others could fill the gap left by Yann and they have utterly failed to do so as our appalling goal scoring record shows.
If no replacement was available then we should have played hardball with Yann and refused to sell him and let him go on a free in the summer.
A total clusterfuck and the truth is that if we do stay up that it will owe a lot more to the very poor teams around us - take a bow Blackpool - than our own performances and quality.

I agree that a replacement should have been found. The issue appears to be around playing hardball with Kermorgant... it appears that Kermorgant was prepared to feign injury to avoid more appearances and the extension clause kicking in. So he was simply going to sit at Sparrows lane picking up the cash.
And we are indeed fortunate that we are not facing the table from this time last year where teams went down on 51 points.
It appears that Kermorgant (and Fuller) command £6-700K pa as injury prone 30 something strikers who can put the ball away. I hope that Duchatelet has a solution over the summer to sign some serious strikers as the rest of the squad look OK.

Oh, memories of what it means to have a centre forward...
