He scored 5 goals for us this season.. Let's not pretend he was some sort of world beater. He's just got better players around him at Bournemouth
Yeah, you are right. I've just seen Reza for the first time. He's a feckin world beater, isn't he? But hey, we spent the money on Polish Pete, he's one for the future, you see...
Did I say he was? I've said all along we didn't replace him properly.
But good on you for judging a player on one game
I've seen Reza for most of his games. Shocking player.
I am lucky when I do go, to sit with somebody who is an excellent reader of the game and whose assessments of Charlton players over the last 30 years has been as accurate as anyone I know. When Reza came on I turned and asked him for his assessment. After looking me in the eye for a second he answered
Kermorgant's probably spending a bit more time in the oppo's penalty area these days. For us he often seemed reluctant to get in there and was happy to stand outside the area watching. For me he should've been getting involved in the link up play and then busting a gut every time to get in the box because when he did, he was very effective.
Perhaps you should reflect on why you are fed information and consider whether it's because your advice and expertise is considered valuable by those responsible or if they are simply using you as a convenient stooge?
Have to say this is post of the year. Surprised the thread didn't end there.
Seeing him knock in them two and the impudent chip show what a quality player he is and one that would only have bettered our team for a couple of seasons But RD didn't wanna push/rock the boat out for prolly the only footballer worth watching we've had in a number of years and he decided to spend his euros elsewhere Whether we stay up or not he'll have to make a miracle signing to make up for the fuck up that was made allowing the genius of Kermo to leave the building
Kermorgant is very much replaceable. And believe he will be replaced adequately in the summer
You do not know football, there is no way we will fork out the money, let alone find the right replacement, for a player of his calibre, it takes time to adapt to the English game, YK had that at Leicester etc, all these players we seem to be finding ourselves having, can't quite hack it week in week out
Interesting quote from YK today in the match report in the S**. Along the lines of 'I joined Bournemouth as they want to get to the Premier league as soon as possible. Because of my age I can't wait to be part of a 5/10 year plan'.

Kermorgant is basically a 15-18 goal striker in the Championship - not to mention assists he makes.
Yes, he CAN be replaced, but it will cost a big chunk of change to do so both in terms of transfer fee and wages.
I hope we do replace him properly in the summer, we shall see.
1. You state as a fact that he refused to play at Huddersfield. It is not a fact, is it, but an assertion by NLA. With all due respect to NLA, you might not wish to rush to judgement so quickly on such "evidence"
2. You say the player has used the media to make snipes and that this has sparked the leaks from the club. Well certainly I was in receipt of such leaks long before he went, let alone before he spoke to the press. Then I would like to ask you this: If YK is the grabbing, honourless mercenary that you have judged him to be, why would he talk to the media at all? He had his money, which you say is all he cares about. Why bother?
I don't remember saying any of this either. Just for clarification!
I misunderstood your earlier 'refused to play' remark. Genuine mistake on my part, but I accept that I misinterpreted it. Probably my overall take on your post was coloured by this. Unfortunately a lot of people are cheerfully portraying him exactly that way, and to me, such a footballer - and they certainly exist - wouldn't bother with such interviews after they have left. People of such character would only do it if there was something in it for them. What was in it for YK, a 32 year old who has just signed probably his last big deal in football? I just don't see the motivation.
Thanks PA.
I don't have a problem with him going - I'd probably have left if the pay increase was anything like it has been suggested elsewhere. That's his right, as is it for him to ask for more money when he has 18 months of his contract left. It just wasn't true to say that the club forced him out when he chose to leave because someone else offered him more money.
Agree. And I am not one of those saying the club forced him out. I simply assert that the club made a bad decision when evaluating what, if anything, they would do to keep him, and what then they would do if he were the subject of a better offer. NLA believes the club were backed into a corner by an unscrupulous blackmailing player. Currently I consider that to be a highly coloured and self serving version of events.
I do accept that if Jiminez and Slater had been running the club better the previous six months, the situation would not have arisen.
So @PragueAddick, did you get a chance to look the club chairman in the eye and ask him whether Kermorgant refused to play those additional games which would have triggered a contract extension... just as several fans have been told. Or perhaps you see him tomorrow?

"He's useless"
And for the next 20 minutes, I saw exactly why.
Utter tosh!
Oh ok then...
And your view on Reza is?
Come on guys his mate said he's useless and that's that, my mate used to say Abbott had all the makings of a prem player so I want Pawel back :-(
Yes, yes, I was just trying to say that I don't consider myself an expert on assessing professional footballers, not having been a brilliant player myself, so if I start to worry that a player is seriously shite, I'd consult someone who obviously a better judge, before gobbling off on here about the player.
But of course many on here are ex pro players and managers, it seems, so they don't have to rely on others before giving their trenchant views. Quite a few such views were presented about Sordell a couple of games ago...
Can't be bothered to check the results fully, but I'm sure we'd find that Charlton's points per game average this season when Kermorgant hasn't played is higher than when he did play. Even if we focus only on Powell's 30 (?) games in charge I doubt the impact on points per game when he played was very significant - certainly not as important as the Riga impact. Both of Powell's away wins, at Blackburn and Birmingham, were secured without him, for example.
That's not to say that Kermorgant isn't a terrific player. I'm simply saying that its important to get his contribution to the team's results into perspective.
One of the ironies of the situation is that many fans appear to have thought that Kermorgant's presence was one of the reasons we played Hoofball under Powell. Eddie Howe's sides don't play that way though and this seems to be benefiting Kermorgant. I'd suggest it's possible that Kermorgant would have looked an even better player under Riga than he did with Powell; we might have seen more of his all round game.
By the way, somewhat off thread, but I think Cameron Stewart has been almost as big a miss. My guess is that the Club thought he could be replaced too. The failure to do so, as with Kermorgant himself, has been the real problem.

"Gobbling off"? We don't want any of that sort of lewd behaviour here.
Yann could have been earning half the salary budget and I would still have signed him
The Welsh Rugby team of the 1970's is considered one of the best of all time. Their star was the scrum half, the legendary Gareth Edwards.
Anyway, two Welsh fans travel to Twickenham for a game they expect to win. A big deal against the snooty English.
Unfortunately, their train is delayed in the Valleys and when they arrive, without tickets, the game has already started and the Ground is full.
Disconsolately, they walk around the Ground hoping to take in the atmosphere and keep track of the score. Suddenly there is a huge roar and tremendous excitement inside the Ground.
It's very frustrating not knowing what's going on, but luckily they spot a steward who has just stepped out of the Stadium. "What's happening in there Boyo?" they both scream. "Are Wales winning yet?"
"Actually, no old chap. They're not", comes the reply. "Infact, and you won't believe this, but there has just been an almighty brawl and the entire Welsh team, except for Gareth Edwards, has been sent off!! Really sorry about that old boy. Better luck next year and all that!!"
The Welsh fans continue their depressing march around the great Stadium and then, just as they spot the toffee nosed steward again, there's another mighty roar.
"What's happening now Boyo? Gareth scored has he?!!"

Honestly.
Bring on the lols, im ready for ya.
Just shows how he impacts the players around him.
He's not even Bouremouth's best striker, let alone the best player in the Championship.

He didn't make it onto the pitch in the Championship team of the year - voted by the players I think.
Probably viewed as a bit too injured or stroppy.
