  • Complete lack of quality and composure in the final 3rd has been our problem all season. So many decent crossing and shooting positions wasted - just about the whole team at fault there...

Impossible to know what our best team and formation is...if we stay up, it will only because other teams let us off

Absoloutly disgraceful performance they should be totally ashamed of themselves.

    Note to Riga

What do we do in training we need to go back to basics with some shooting practice, learning how to head a ball strikers deffinetly, work on controlling the bloody thing and passing

Can we also have a whip round to buy Harriet some studs for his boots he looked like bambi on ice.
  • The comments so far are ridiculous. We could not take our chances but otherwise we dominated that game. Most of our players were excellent (some not - Harriott) but we are toothless. Barnsley were ridiculously lucky

You were clearly watching a different game - we are crap and have been all season just look at our goals scored figure - Barnsley weren't lucky they just took their chances.
  • Utter wank!

On a positive note, am I right in thinking that Sordell is ineligible against Bolton...?

Don't tell UFEA, they might let him play.
More like don't tell Bolton as they might insist he plays...
To be fair, thought he actually had a decent enough game - just can't see him or Obika scoring though.

Barnsley were there for the taking, but one free header from a corner and the game was turned on its head.
And then just when you couldn't see them getting another, they did and that was that.

Have been fairly sure up until tonight that we would be OK, but am a lot less confident now.
  • Sordell Harriott should never play again for us

    Riga wasted the solly sub

His starting line up was well wrong

Woods and harriotts headers are unforgivable

The decision of sordell in the one on one was the worst I have ever seen

I have said we won't go down I will admit I am wrong that's us toast

And yet again Callum Harriott is the main player responsible
His 2 mistakes at sheff u cost us

Tonight he cost us even more

Riga fkd it letting him stay on

I think you're on the wrong thread. This is NOT the joke thread!!!
  • It sounded like we played well until we got in front of goal then we were absolute pap. Barnsley scored against the run of the play

Our players must be shattered. We need some fresh legs on Friday even if we have to blood some more youngsters. Hopefully resting Morrison will help at the back. Losing Wiggins is a bugger. Cousins sounded very good tonight. Harriotts confidence must be in tatters now.

lets hope heads don't drop too much over this.
  • This simple idea that when we win we're excellent and when we lose we're terrible is a very basic and narrow assessment of our performances. Against Brighton we were rubbish but we were not rubbish today.

Is anyone going to tell me Barnsley deserved anything?

  • Harriott and wood should never wear a Charlton shirt again. Why did we not start potential player of the year Wilson and Morrison! It's a joke, we need strikers who can score. They've got no bottle
  • For the First time in my life I was disappointed Church wasn't on the bench

Yes I was that desperate ...

I maintain we were unlucky to lose because we dominated for the entire match. Having said that we gifted them a first goal and then for all our dominance couldn't get back into the game. There IS Hope but it's going to be very very very close. 50 / 50 now.
  • Is Harriott out of contract in the summer. Certainly hope so. Complete waste of space.

Sordell was never that bad. Obika was worse.

Barnsley were lucky to win despite our weak attacking play.

Told you sordell was shite a long time ago mate and im telling you harriott is proper shite .
  • Hamer 2nd goal?????
He's too busy trying to look pretty. Bring back pope

At this stage of the season doesn't f*cking matter who deserves what. They beat us in what was a must must win game for us. And we were dogshit.
  • This was as depressing as the Yeovil game was exciting. I don't even want to think about it right now. We need to bounce back straight away against Bolton. The fact is all is not lost yet.
  • Can't see us winning another match this season. We must have the worst strikers to have ever worn the red shirt. Slater and Jiminez have got a lot to answer for, IMO. I just hope we get a manager who can get us out of Div 1 next year.
  • Callum Harriot. Useless fecking waste of space.

Plus the Worst forward line in all 4 divisions. Hopeless

  • With one or two exceptions.......

THAT IS A TEAM OF FAILURES AND LOSERS.
  • Team selection lacked balance. Before even a ball was kicked.

Charlton started bright. As soon as Barnsley scored from a set piece we crumbled like a melting pot of wax.

I could continue to go into detail about how poor Barnsley were and how uncomfortable Harriot was out on the right but what does it all matter?

We lost to the worse team I've seen at the valley in a long long time.

Where do we go from here I hear you ask?

Riga needs to have a serious sit down and think about how he can get a balance in the team which has some sort of attacking potentncy.

Wiggins hopefully taken off as a precaution.

    Serious question marks over Sordell.

To end on a postive, I thought Poyet and cousins our brightest sparks.

Night all. Not that it's a good one.

  • Is anyone going to tell me Barnsley deserved anything?

Er, yes because they got the ball
in that net thing twice, and that is normally enough for at least a point.

They rode their luck and were fortunate that we we were poor in front of goal, but if the situation was reversed we'd be patting ourselves on the back for a dogged away performance.
  • I know mate I should've listened

I swear hamer ducked for the second
  • Astonished by the comments on this thread . We played well, we dominated the game we just cannot score. The team played with passion and belief for 75+ mins and were beaten by a poor team who got lucky. I was at Brighton and the step up in performance was remarkable , we deserved more.
Not all rosy though, Harriot had a nightmare and worried we will be without wiggins.
  • The stats reflect the game.We were the better side for most of the game but could only create half chances.Their first goal came against the run of play and their second was meant to be a cross. Harriott and Wiggins kept delaying instead of crossing in the first half.
We are lacking in attacking midfielders.wingers and strikers. The team was weakened not strengthened in January and we are paying the price now the chips are down.We still have a chance but we will need luck as well as effort.

When Barnsley passed to one another they generally found their mark, and the player receiving generally held on to it for long enough to control the ball. It was that basic. Our players were consistently muscled off the ball and failed to control passes. They didn't create much, god knows, but they played to their strengths. I'm not sure what ours were.
  • Amid any praise for Poyet and Cousins, can we remind ourselves that neither provides enough cutting edge around the box (along with everyone else, mind). ..

we're too reliant on slightly fortunate clean sheets, and today our luck ran out
  • I've come to the conclusion we'd be better off playing without strikers just to confuse the opposition more than anything. Think I'd sooner have spongefoot playing rather than any of those muppets we had on the pitch tonight.
