  • Fanny, I always look forward to your reports because I think they are always very level headed and tell it how it was, for good or for bad. Maybe it's because you post the next day when the dust has settled and not in the heat of the moment. I know you loved CP but it's good to see that you are right behind Jose, although I wouldn't expect anything other than that, and I hope everyone can put their emotions aside likewise and get right behind the new manager.

Glad you had a safe and very enjoyable trip.

The boisterous posse of Leeds fans to our right, the equivalent I imagine of our new Block 'A' team, turned on their owners whilst the slow to get going away following finally found their true voice. For a neutral this was now a good game to watch with chances at both ends .

That support came across really strongly on the radio, even before we had scored. Radio leeds estimated around 150 before they got the official attendance but even with 250, that volume and voracity goes to show it is about quality as much as it is numbers.

Absolutely but the straw that may have broken the camel's back was the less than complimentary 'Your support is f..k.ng sh*t' which we have learnt to take from @oohaahmortimer‌ but we weren't having it from a load of dirty northern bar stewards, no offence to AUN or any other northern Addicks :0)
  • Brilliant birthday present for me and, coincidentally, lad sitting next to me. Lovely goal. Ben H topped confident game with great save. V dramatic. Leeds fans good humoured. Stewards and cops friendly. Rewarding experience.

Was my birthday yesterday too and I was at the game! 3 of us all celebrating our birthdays in the best way, What a present!

All you birthday people should have said and we would have had a chorus of 'Happy Birthday To You' subject of course to a little refreshment at half time being laid on for the choir :0)

Three out of 251 is a bit of a weird coincidence.
I thought my present had been snatched away when the penalty was awarded ... but I/we got it back, gift wrapped!
  • Anybody notice how well the referee shifted in the ninetysomething minute of the game for Jordans break? Box to box and not overtaken.

Don't matter about keeping up with play Seth if you can't make the right decision when called upon, for example our penalty shout when Obika was brought down yet their player went don't very easily IMO, just saying like :-0
  • RC, yes you have to make the right decision, mind you if you're the ref and you're closer than most of the players to an incident it gives you more authority. I thought McCormack dived for the Poyet pen, but I can see why it was given, don't know about the Obika one, is it on view anywhere?
When I trained it was emphasised that '8 yard decisions' will help you a lot, I am always annoyed when refs don't keep up with play, and give decisions from miles away.

You're right Seth the decision making is something else and the closer you are the better your chances of getting it right. I haven't seen the Obika incident anywhere on here yet but it looked a better shout than there's. What we need are some extended highlights @Callumcafc‌ or @plentyofshots‌ please :0)

I was listening to the Leeds commentary and watching the Utd - Bayern game on mute - let it be recorded here that Charlton and United's goals went in literally within a second of each other :D

    Contemporaneously in fact!

  • Ta for linking to highlights. Interesting that we had a well-worked free kick, we had one last home game too, don't remember too many under SCP. And another great through ball from AA. Onwards and upwards.

Getting mobile reception at East Finchley and finding out that Charlton have won at Leeds: Priceless

Did not even know there was a game on at the theatre of dreams. Seems you had good seats and bought a large round so had a few!

Sorry you missed the excitement of the thread, could have been worse, at least you were not at some boring old play.

Some interesting stuff in those highlights. Wilson has become an extremely tidy defender. The way he shepherded the ball away from two players after McCormack hit the bar was superb. Also nice to see even McCormack congratulated Hamer on his save. Interesting to see Dervite getting some properly hefty shots on target. Seems to really enjoy hitting them against Leeds. Not quite sure how Jordan missed that one at the end though; maybe he just didn't want to end the 1-0 voodoo we have going on right now

McCormacks shot was touched onto the bar by the bearded wonder. Only saw it on replay tho'

Well done lads for showing a bit of South London solidarity and boycotting Leeds away too, even without it being a 'bubble' match for you lot.

  • What is a bubble match?
    West Ham?
Is it rhyming slang for a contest over a telescope, or one played on loose rocks, or by the slightly unshaven?
All a bit of a mystery.
  • I bet you toiled over that one Seth............I'll get my coat :-)

    LOL!
  • The finger should be pointed at the leagues top goalscorer.

Not that bad a strike though, was it? Certainly not Michael Gray 1998. Ben called it right and then got down very very well. And it is not his first penalty save for us, is it?

Oh how good this feels today.
There's this one - except he does't touch it ;-)

Saved one against Carlisle didn't he? I remember that being a very bad day for Carlisle altogether
