  • Diego signing will be because Diego wants to no other reason the offers on the table are damn good and I doubt we could offer much more tbh

    Down to Diego this one

    Fingers crossed then.

  • Anyone have any credible updates?

    He's staying

It's just I feel so calm about this situation it's as if I already know
  • oh yeah ! agents never talk rubbish do they ?

    nailed on then lads lol
  • Redman your agent friend is wrong the offer on the table is a good one
  • RD has come in for some real stick the last few days and I've been one of the people to defend him, but if he has only offered 3k to poyet then I will personally drive down to The valley and slap him round the face with a waffle.

I just don't think what you've been told is true.

I'll buy the waffle for you.

The offer to diego was shit and all this diego is on 6k a week is not true.he is on thirteen to sixteen hundred a week. Does anybody really think that the old owners was going to give a boy that big of a wage if he got into the first team when he sign pro we were in league1 even chris solly was not on 6k a week at the time.the new offer is 3k and the source I got it from is a football agent a top one at that. I thought he was joking when he told me but he did say the kid 100% wants to stay. So fingers crossed

That is so funny. One of the best wind up's on here ever.

Probably best to give up on this one now.

Now look here, young Gary !

RD said ( allegedly) when he paid over his dosh to The Spivs that he wanted to know all about our history & immerse himself in the Charlton "culture" ....indeed, crying out to be Charltonised.

So, SURELY a wet haddock would be far more appropriate ?

We really do need to pull out all the stops to show we are listening to his every word....

    Welcome back redman....

    it's not Nathan is it????

    Welcome back redman....

What was all that about not digging out people who claim to be in the know...
  • Let's all hope I am wrong and the boy signs.would love to watch him play for one or hopefully two more years. WORLD CLASS
  • It worries me that we're now reaping the rewards of the fantastic work the academy has done over the last few years and we have an owner who sees it as a way of making a quick buck, rather than laying the foundations of a potentially great new era for the club....................

How do you know what his plans are. You are making something up to suit your agenda. Every club in this division is potentially a selling club if the right offer comes in.
A strong Academy is a good thing, for our First Team and to bring some money in should the right offer be submitted.

  • Like everyone here, I don't know what his plans are. I can only go by what I see. Yeah, most clubs outside the top division are potential sellers, but when I look on the club site at our squad, I feel like I'm looking into the "everything must go" section of Argos. I realise I have no solid grounds to base these opinions on, other than gut feeling.

I gave RD the benefit of the doubt over his january additions, given the time-scale and hoped he would learn from his mistakes and run the club as a chairman, rather than a CEO.
Letting key players, such as Dervite & (to a lesser extent imo) Hamer walk hasn't exactly instilled any confidence in him. The Dyer statement just adds to my list of worries.

I'll be more than happy to bow to his master-plan if it comes off (if indeed he actually has one), but I can't help feeling very worried for the future of our club..................

  • If you were young Poyet with a potentially glittering career ahead of you, would you sign on the evidence of the last six months?

Cousins is a right mug then ?

  • If we can't keep these players or get any substantial money for them then they might as well shut the academy down and let the big clubs find them and train them. Its like we are turning into a scouting team for premier league giants to get prospects on the cheap.

I am going to be furious if Joe Gomez goes the same way as Kasey Palmer.

Diego Poyet should just come and say what he wants. If we can't afford it then bye bye and have a nice career. Thanks for the memories.

Not all this 'I am keeping my options open' which means 'i will come to your club if you pay more than than any of the others so come and get me'.

*Basing my opinion on what i have heard and not facts*

If you were young Poyet with a potentially glittering career ahead of you, would you sign on the evidence of the last six months?

Yes, if it meant a regular place in the team and not warming the bench or worse just sitting round at a "bigger" club.

  • There'll be plenty bigger clubs where he could play and earn more.
  • So Diego is the boyfriend of my girlfriends best mate. I'm going to a party with them all next Thursday and I plan to find out all there is to know haha.

    Tonight's the night ... Haha.
  • Just give him what he wants
  • If he was staying he would have signed by now. The club are trying to get him to sign a contract - I'm sure of that, but equally sure he won't . If Chrissy Powell was in charge or even Riga, it might have been possible. Anybody who read Dyer's comments will surely appreciate that these will be sentiments that reach the players.

Completely different ends of the career spectrum I know but I think it's fair to say that Johnnie Jackson is about as loyal and "Charlton" player as we have had for many a year but he has been happy to commit himself when I'm sure he could have got a club without too much problem had he wanted too.

As for Diego Poyet I too think we have missed that boat but I think it sailed months ago.
