Poyet the pick of the bunch with Harriot not far behind and JJ kept trying but generally the lack of any threat up front meant that we could never keep the pressure on their back four except at corners and the odd break. For those (like me) who despaired at seeing Cousins at right wing, you can now rest easy. It seems that he is really a closet LEFT winger, having replaced Harriot for the last few minutes!!! Ye gods!!! I felt sorry for him as he blundered his way down the touchline.
There was plenty of effort at the start of each half from us but so weak in attack. A point is not to be rejected of course but in truth two poor teams who, if they kept playing till the weekend, would still not score.
Dull game, our passing is so bad as is our movement. Reza was garbage on the wing, hid all game and did not add anything. should have scored from a corner and hit it wide.
Sordell tried hard, could/ should have scored.
Huddersfield looked like a mid table team, there for the taking with nothing to play for, won't get many easier opportunities than that.
As for bringing on Cousins as a left winger...crazy decision.
Sorry Seth you are becoming ridiculous with you're childish slating of Riga who could not have had an ounce of influence on that game. Hardly a poor start given how bad we have been all season.
I said it was only one point and it was poor from Riga. Am I not entitled to say that then? He picked the team, did the pre match and half time talking, called the subs and was prepared to be interviewed post match. Maybe that isn't an ounce but a gram. If you think my post match views were not quite reasonable and measured, but childish, then maybe there are other posters here you would like to call out also. I did not see things as you did tonight and other posters here have been more impassioned, why not call them out too for not sharing your viewpoint?
It has to be a big positive that three players, Harriot, Sordell and Pritchard who have been so anonymous all season, seem to be getting their mojo back. That could be very important for the run in.
Very lively and slick for first 30 mins with half a dozen corners and good spirit. Thought Sodall, Dervite and AA were particularly impressive. Then without a goal confidence oozed out gradually.
Bottom line football-wise is that is does not matter who is the manager or who is the owner if you don't have an effective in-form striker.
With Fuller, Haynes or Obika up front we would have won that 2-0 and the same goes for many other games this season.
Simple solution but who will want to come here and will Mr Roland get his cheque book out of his girlfriend's handbag?
We had enough chances to win. There were three clear chances from corners in the 1st half (Morrison, Reza and the Adjarevic header unfortunately cleared by Sordell) plus Sordell's clear chance in the 2nd. Had a few half chances on top of that...Sordell's shot past the post 2nd half and Adjarevic's long shot 1st half. Huddersfield didn't really threaten a great deal and our back-line/midfield should take credit for that.
Dervite and Morrison were very solid and Sordell looked ok up front. He shouldn't let his head drop just because his best chance was saved...he looked a good player tonight. Poyet although a bit laboured at times, hit a brilliant ball over the top for Sordell's chance and seemed to get better as the game went on. Harriot gave it everything and looked a decent threat. Reza did an unfamiliar job with a lot of heart but I expect he will drop to the bench on Saturday and Pritchard to play right-midfield. Jackson tackled well.
It wasn't a bad performance at all and the players seemed to give it everything. The change of style was quite pleasing and our biggest enemy now is the pitch, which doesn't suit a passing game. All credit to the players tonight for trying to play football on it.
Thought we played pretty well with good movement , thought reza , astrit , harriott , poyet and sordell were all very good thought subs we're fine , think people are just looking to moan , onwards and upwards ! Coyr

Totally agree.
Thought those booing Riga should get a life and a brain cell.
Good, positive performance which should have nicked the game.
Tribute to SCP was fitting and dignified
We will beat the Spanners Saturday and we we will get out of this mess.
Well played boys
Exactly mate well said hopefully the goals will come Saturday! or even being saved for then
Would have taken a point before the game, but walked away disappointed we didn't come away with all three. Looked from the start that if anyone was coming out of it with a win, it was us (but we've all been around long enough to know that's not the Charlton way). If lady luck was on our side, it could've been a comfortable 2/3-0 victory. We certainly had the lions share of the 1st half and played some pretty decent stuff, but just need to add some urgency to our attacking movement. 2nd half was more pedestrian. Again, we created a couple of decent chances with little in return from Huddersfield. One heart-in-mouth moment when Hamer came charging out, calling for Morro to leave it, then decided he wasn't going to, leaving him stranded. Got to eat a (small) slice of humble pie regarding Sordell. By far the best shift he's put in this season. AA was also impressive in the first half, always trying to create something. As for Poyet, is he really only 18? for such a young age, he's composed on the ball, keeps his head up and not afraid to get stuck into a challenge when needed. That lad has future international written all over him.
So, overall I thought it was a decent shift all round. Just need to get a win or two under our belts to give the boys a bit of self-belief and we'll be okay............
I quite enjoyed the game, first half in particular. I've seen far worse nil nils. We looked to have a better shape than before with no real square pegs in round holes until the substitutions. A bit disappointed to see Pritchard back. Sordell was the real deal tonight and just needs a goal. Hope he keeps that form up. At least it shows that there is a player in there somewhere. I didn't think wiggins was great but neither did I think he was as bad as most are suggesting. Bit disappointed with the boing of Riga. It's not his fault folks but the applause for CP was well observed. Not a great crowd. Probably around 10k. But all in all a pleasant evening and nowhere near the car crash that it could have been
First half best attacking football I've seen for many many games Every player put in a shift Second half Hudds pushed more at 85 mins good Subs by Riga went 4-5-1 and got a point! I'm positive Saturdays game is gonna be big if we win were out the relegation zone.
What were the substitutions about... I mean people slagged Powell off for putting Cousins on the right and I hated that... but bringing him on at the end on the left! We were playing with 3 defensive central midfielders, jackson and... Church at the end. How the bejesus is that gonna get you a goal!

Dyer said in post match interview, that Riga allowed him to take training yesterday AND pick the team today. That probably explains why Wilson is still at right back and Cousins is being employed as the new Stevie Brown.

Comes a time in a game where you decide to twist or stick mate. Yes, we're desperate for all 3 points, but That single point tonight might just be the difference between survival or relegation. I think it would've absolutely destroyed morale for Saturday if we got caught out chasing the win, only to be sucker punched in the last 5 mins. We've all seen it happen (far too often for my liking).
OK. Dyer did the work according to him, makes me wonder what Riga was responsible for? If Riga is not to take any criticism he can't take any praise for any positives either.

i reckon it was to double up on adam hammil coz he can be good! or jacko was ment to go left wing but it didnt happen i think the first ones more likely
Good first half; could easily have gone in 4-0 p at HT. Bad misses by Reza, Morro, Sordell and a pinch of bad luck in front of goal. Good passing and excellent crosses from JJ. Second half we reverted to looking clueless.
As for the crowd, much lower than I expected given the recent drama, new manager, no game at home for 2 weeks. Atmosphere was, perhaps unsurprisingly, odd.
Bit gutted we didn't win as we were by far the best team; especially in the first half. I am feeling a little bit more confident about the Millwall game now.
I quite enjoyed the first half but it went downhill from then on in. It wasn't down to a lack of effort, the players on show are simply not good enough. It still felt like a Chrissy Powell game and I just thought that it really doesn't matter who the manager is, we do not have the strikers that we need. I imagine that this message will pretty soon be communicated to Roland and I suspect it's a message that he won't want to hear. Poor old Pritch, he really looks out of it now.
A definite improvement, though some strange substitutions seeing that Sordell and Harriott were decent today, and taking them and Reza off meant we had no pace in the team.
Interesting for the conspiracy theorists that Hamer was in goal, though he had one or two wobbly moments of you shall I/shan't I variety, that would have had Thuram slated...
No Tudgay on the bench which was slightly surprising (even if he was poor on Sunday)
I thought we played well in the first half and had a few chances that we didn't take. Second half Huddersfield looked to have more of the play but both sides looked lightweight in attack. What we needed under Powell as well as Riga is a creative midfielder and a goal scoring forward.

Does that also explain why Ben H was in goal ?
Someone told me that Riga shook the hand of all our players as they exited the pitch but made a definite point of snubbing Ben. Obviously still a contentious position & one that just won't "go away".
Felt more comfortable tonight than I thought I'd be considering the past 36 hours or so, but something was missing...
Pretty scrappy game on the whole but we weren't drawn into the diving, pushing & niggling tactics that Udders employed and bearing in mind that our players' heads may well have been all over the place, there were some tired lads out there tonight both physically & mentally. Heard Herr Rosler on 5 Live on the way home saying he rested 5 of the players he utilised on Sunday - chance would be a fine thing !
On the whole I was not disappointed & pleased we have the first of Jose's games done & dusted without a loss. Impressed with Marvin's performance - we may have a striker in there somewhere after all. A clean sheet but no goals again which is clearly our Achilles heel. Wonder what the new manager's cunning plan is to sort this problem ?
I wish all of you heading off to Bermondsey on Saturday a great afternoon & fervently hope you return home with a smile on your faces. Please give the lads a cheer for me & again on Tuesday night. I hate missing matches but a "girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do" if you get my drift & I'm hoping I'll return to a happier Valley on my birthday.
I think a couple more games before everyone should judge Riga.
Reza isn't a right winger and Cousins certainly isn't a left midfielder tho, so we need to stop all this square pegs round holes shit all together and quickly.
Problem is, until we get some extra round pegs, we're going to have to make do with square ones. Changing the person who has to try to hammer them into place doesn't solve that fundamental issue.
Fanny, I don't agree with what you were told. He did not snub Ben at all. Riga was engaged in conversation with the linesmen as Ben walked past to the tunnel. Nothing to it IMO.

Boring point and on to the Spanners it is then and you should all know what my prediction for that is by now.
