Yep if true RD will bring an unknown european, probably an assistant coach from one of his other clubs, and we must have a director of football, both of whom will need a translator.
If this is true (I hope not ) I just wish that Chris had resigned when Roland had undermined him by selling dale & yann and landing him with inferior players on loan
Not surprised. If everything was ok he would have signed that new contract in a nano second. Personally the longer the contract scenario dragged on, the more likely he was going to walk. Roland wanted an answer, and got fed up waiting.
Powell is respected by his fellow pro's so he will be ok for a job in some capacity.
Do it Roland's way, or find another job. Never a dull moment being a Charlton fan.
Can someone think of a single self respecting manager who would want this job? Our squad is worse than it was when we went up, he's had average signings dumped on him, had to add a striker who's about as useful as a chocolate tea pot because nobody else wanted to come and we needed a "forward". Dreadful timing. Good luck Chris, you deserve better than us (and that sickens me to say). I can see us drifting for some time to come while this clown continues his experiment
Gutting and great timing with 2 crucial games coming up. Thanks Chris, I loved having you as our manager. I hope you get backed in your next role so you can show, again, what you can do with support.
It was inevitable. The only reason why it had not happened before was that RD is a total skinflint that he wanted CP to walk instead of having to fire him and pay the contract up. RD has undermined Chris Powell from the beginning with selling and non replacement of players. RD always had someone else in mind. RDs genius strategy was to provide insufficient player support, expose Chris Powell's tactical weakness, and with the inevitable car crash, replace him with the Coach he wanted all along. The RD bonus was to have CP take the blame for the relegation.
Chris Powell is a great man and I am not impressed by Duchatelet's treatment of him. It is low class.
Not the same, he was sacked on the instructions of some one who did not own the club, we are more like Cardiff, new owner can do what he likes. Let us hope it just newspaper bo**l.
Doesn't matter who comes in. Thuram in goal. Nego right back AA midfield reza and pete up top. Fill in the blanks with whatever we have left and don't even ask to try anything else.
What a naive foolish owner we have now. Come back mysterons
This explains the performance on Sunday. CP refuses to player, teams heart not in it. If you recorded it, take a look at the preview and see CP and KP at the tunnel. They do not look like they are very happy.
I think there is only one man to take over until the end of the season and that is Curbs. Malky or Warnock close behind.
I feel gutted at this news. Gutted for Charlton fans that is. For two seasons CP has done his very best with the club in turmoil, no financial support and, apparently, a new owner who thinks he knows as much about football as he does about electronics (I sincerely hope he does). Without Powell the future seems very bleak.
If there's one thing I am certain of, it's that the future for Chris Powell is bright; brighter than it would have been with us, unfortunately. No manager goes through life without a sacking or two, so it's just something for Chris to add to experience. He'll be the stronger for it and he'll now be able to find a job where he is wanted, appreciated and supported by the owners of the club. I have absolutely no doubt that he will flourish. A couple of years ago, I predicted that he'll one day manage England based on my belief that he's one of the finest young English managers there are. I can still see it happening one day.
Absolutely terrible decision to sack Powell. He can do a lot better than the nonsense he's had to put up with, but I doubt we can do much better than him at the moment.

Still think that regardless of on the pitch issues, he has been the only thing holding the club together off it. God knows what happens now.
@AFKABartram, are we allowed to very politely tell anyone gloating where to go?
Gutted for him, but it's a results game. Harsh I know but that's how it is
Jams called it last night:
I am not in the know, I am just passing along what I have heard - that Powell has been sacked and it will be announced tomorrow.

Maybe now we will have players not good enough for the championship, managed by a manager who doesn't know the championship. It might just work! ;-)

Could never understand on Sunday why it just 'didnt feel right' as a performance. I think it is clear now that it is a very unhappy, divided camp.

It won't affect us because we'll be in League One.
Wish him all the very best wherever he goes.
