  • Didn't realise we were that shite :(
  • Another kick in the teeth to the supporters and a gutless display by the players. For all Jackson's talk of being part of a generation that grew up watching the FA Cup, never playing at Wembley, not having many more chances etc, he and the team were anonymous. Sheff Utd played okay. I don't think we were up a team that stretched us like Leicester did last week. What won the game was their desire. They wanted it more. They attacked. For 60 odd minutes, we had triangles of passing from Poyet, Morrison & Wood. Again, Powell sticks Cousins on the right? I give up. His policy of a central midfielder out on the right worked for about a month at the end of last season, fuck knows why he persists with it. A lot people were back on the JJ bandwagon after his winner against QPR. Today his only contribution was a quick free kick and very bad challenge that got him a yellow card. Church? What's the point? We have 24 goals in 30 league games this season, he's probably the biggest factor. Can run and run all day, but so can a fucking dog chasing a tennis ball. I know Powell has put up with a lot these last 12 months, but we don't even look up for games. And this, of all games. If you can't get this team up for this game, get them at least playing with a bit more passion. THE PLAYERS OWE US BIG TIME NOW. There is no where left to hide. We are out the cup. We are bottom of the league. I haven't and won't give up hope of getting out the bottom 3. If those players really give a shit and Powell wants to show us he can get that team motivated, then give us a long overdue 7th league win against Huddersfield and sure as hell follow that up with a win against the scumbags next Saturday. Anything less is unacceptable. My last thought is for the fans that went up there today, I would like to see some open letter or statement of apology to them, from or on behalf of the team.
  • Absolutely gutted. Totally outclassed all over the pitch. Hopefully those that made the trip to watch that shite can still salvage their day boozing in the sun.
  • I haven't seen a great deal of games in recent years, the last time I was at the Valley was against Leicester this year. Today though, that was terrible and I really worry about what is going to happen between now and May. If that is what is available to us, then we are only heading one way. I'm not a 'Powell out' member. We need to improve over 100% to get out of this dogfight we are in, starting on Wednesday. I'll be listening to the game Thursday morning over here, as well as next Saturday against that lot. But seriously am worried what today and by the look of it, our performance can do for us.

    Was there.

    Gutless.

    Embarrassed.

The whole lot of them can fuck off. The players, manager & coaching staff.

Thousands of fans busted a gut to support that shower of shite and we got nothing back.

Anyone who can take any positives out of that is taking the piss.

Pretty much how I feel word for word.
  • So disappointed with performance. As usual in big games we are told the right things beforehand that our players are up for the game and then we don't even turn up. Same will probably happen before the Millwall match.
We created one chance against a league 1 side. True Hamer had nothing to do and they took their chance and then got a deflection for the second goal.
Was so frustrating that they seemed to be no reaction to going down today.
We still have nothing up front and don't create much and don't really look like scoring. Struggling to see a pattern to how we are playing.
Will be there Wednesday hoping for an improvement. Hope we realise that we actually need to win to stay up and don't feel sorry for ourselves. Think the team owe us fans big time after today.
I will renew my season ticket in the week for next season as always think things will get better and will support us always just gets hard sometimes!!!!

Agree with every word it was fucking shite ALL our players looked lower league 1 at best
With that starting team we could have played all night with pussy foot up front and not scored

  • I feel we aren't giving Sheffield utd enough credit. They played superbly and I can see why they have beaten far better teams than us. We didn't turn up today and badly need a reaction on Wednesday.
  • Wasnt overly impressed with Poyet today, he sat very' very deep and wanted the ball all the time but when he got it it just went back to Wood or Morro to hoof. If he's going to take himself out of midfield to be a playmaker - he needs to make some play. All style from DP today but no substance.

He's also going to cost us a goal soon when he gets caught out dilly dallying as the last line of defence.

He was playing to orders imo. Clearly set up to kill the game.

I wasn't there, and it angers me to see people who did make the effort get treated to a performance like that. I hope the players got booed off at the end.

Probably - men against boys their midfield against ours. Safe journey home Clem - hope you've got some Stella left!!
  • They did, and it pains me to say it, but it was deserved.
  • Gutless display yet again, thought Harriott was the only shining light but blimey, that chance...

Desperately missed he who must not be named up front

    Concentrate on getting relegated now...

I think Powell will be gone post Millwall defeat
  • I think we did okay in the first half. Like a few of you have already pointed out, it would have probably been different had Harriot scored that goal. Overall a very disappointing performance. Not sure why our players didn't seem to be up for it. After the first goal, we looked sharper and I thought we might turn it around. But that only lasted two minutes.

Off to bed now. The only positive outcome of this is that we can now fully focus on the League....

    Sounds achievable.
  • Lets not immediately crucify Powell and RD. The players need to take the blame too, only Poyet showed an ounce of willingness out there today. No movement at all from the front 4. Seemed happy to just long ball it all day to Church which is moronic.

Agree with this. They wanted it much more than we did.
  • I wasn't over plus send with Poyet. He reminded me the way Butch Wilkins played...the sideways shuffle. That saying, he was still heads and shoulders over the test. I'm still wondering whether Church would be better suited in Mike Reid's kids show than a football team. Grrrrr

  • Don't buy that.

A cracking weekend away ruined by a disgraceful ambitionless performance . Not one of them looked up for it we seemed content at passing sideways and backwards for 90 minutes . As for church and tudgay? What a joke. I like Powell but his tactics were wrong today cousins shouldn't of played where he did , harriott is a lightweight and wiggins looked unfit. Really gutted but hey ho it's charlton I shouldn't of expected anything more. Do think well go on to be relegated aswel, never gonna score the amount of goals we need to with two pony strikers and no service .
  • Highlight was WSS' Ben Hamer solo singing effort. Watching Jordan Cousins today was embarrassing. The lad is not a right midfielder and I cannot believe he stayed on the pitch, and Wilson was taken off. Poor from Wiggins for the first goal. The movement from our "forwards" is abysmal.

Astrit has to play - the only link to positive football.

Harriot frightened them when he ran at them, but his miss was inexcusable.

  • it was a good league one team v an average league one team

That was shit, 1 real shot on target

Hahahaha yer flag me for abuse with that, ie travelled 1000 to watch that tripe
  • My cable TV channel froze after 59 seconds. I think it was an omen. Don't watch, it was saying to me. But I had an internet feed and ignored the TV's advice and watched the remainder.

I feel for the fans that went through all the hassle to get there on time today and spent a lot of money in the process. As for me, the one positive is that I will not have the expenditure of returning to London for a Wembley visit.

  • My mate just texted saying £300 weekend with family-so let down-so embarrased-so out of pocket-so angry Powell never came over! Have to agree and Powell must be on very thin ice now.
