It seems to me they could make a hell of a lot more money by employing a couple more people who are capable of serving drinks and food at half time/before the game to combat the demand. Id have at least 1 more pint per game if it wasnt such a faf, and I bet there are plenty like me
Sooner go to the pub to be honest, but half times a different matter, it really is a pain getting a beer at HT unless you miss the last 5 mins of the first half.
Looks from the o/s like they have already done a complete u turn on this.
What are they saying now then?
Season-ticket prices for the 2014/15 season were released on Friday morning and supporters in the upper tier of the North Stand can take advantage of the new Crossbars package
Iain Liddle reports
Season-ticket prices for the 2014/15 season were released on Friday morning and supporters in the upper tier of the North Stand can take advantage of the new Crossbars package.
All ticket prices in the area have been frozen at £300 adults, £215 concessions and U21s, £100 U18s and £50 U11s for the coming campaign.
Current North Stand regulars are welcome to continue to pay the existing prices and there is no obligation for any supporter to change seats.
However, for an extra £10 per match – for adults, U21s and over 60s, any season-ticket holder in the upper tier of the North Stand can upgrade to the Crossbars package which gives them use of the popular lounge and a range of other benefits.
These benefits include:
•Access to the popular Crossbars lounge before and after the match, as well as at half-time. •Complimentary half-time beers, wines and soft drinks. •A copy of Valley Review, the club’s matchday magazine. •A post-match question-and-answer session from club legend Bob Bolder •A post-game presentation with the man of the match •Discounted drinks offers •Additional entertainment, such as table football
The Crossbars package has been introduced to maximise the potential of the North Stand lounge, which can house more than 750 supporters at a time and is a short walk from the front of the upper tier.
To showcase the new ticket, the club are offering a ‘try before you buy’ Crossbars pass for current season-ticket holders in the upper tier of the North Stand.
Fans can experience a taster of the package at upcoming home games against Huddersfield Town, AFC Bournemouth, Burnley or Reading.
Those interested should call the Valley commercial centre on 0871 226 1905 to reserve their place.
It is advisable that anyone keen to take up the Crossbars package should purchase or relocate their season ticket to within the first six rows of the upper tier of the North Stand, for ease of access from their seat to the lounge at busy periods such as half-time.
However, the package is available to any season-ticket holder in the upper tier of the North Stand and those currently located in the front six rows are under no obligation to purchase a Crossbars package.

Also does the club really think that by having the first 6 rows occupied by people prepared to pay £550 to have the best view of the game are going to be the same type of people who sing, shout and create a attmosphere? Or will they going to moan about the swearing, the loud druming noise and how the bouncy bouncy spills the contents out of their flasks? (What i mean by that is, they are obviously touting the NU as the place too but its where the youth sit, its the "home end" where we support the team, where the normal person sits, not the elite from the East or West).
Seems a bit over the top. We're talking about £550 for a year, I wouldn't expect these rows to be filled with the landed gentry, oil rich arabs and Russian oligarchs. For that matter, I wouldn't expect them to be full at all!

Well, who else is it aimed at? They are trying to encourage those from the East or West stands over to use Crossbars. If they were coming over for anything else, they would already have come over. And lets face it, most people in those stands are not the type of people to sing CAFC for 10 minutes....maybe a polite cheer but not much more.
No true fan would threaten not to renew over this , I would sit in the jimmy seed stand or high in the west to see Charlton every week. Some of you need to sort yourselfs out I'm shocked. Man up !
There is an aspect of all this that hasn't been mentioned. We all know that many people leave their seats a few minutes before half time to get in the beer queue nice and early. Usually there's no real problem, but can you imagine the first six rows of the NU rising en masse to get to the lounge early to grab their free drink? What would be the re-action if the team were attacking the Covered End and winning corners (it could happen!) and there was a load of Crossbar customers standing and blocking your view of the action as they clogged up the gangways. Then of course they would all have to come back again for the second half with all the associated problems of people bobbing up and down as others found their seat. It's excellent news to hear that they are binning this ridiculous idea, it should never have got this far! Wonder what's coming next!!

Bully for you.
Some of us have sat where we sit for many years and get on with the people around us.
Well I go there to watch Charlton not speak to people , they have already said you havnt got to move and I find it a joke people threatening they will not renew Iv had my ticket for 8 years and I love it there but if I had to move so be it I wouldn't whine like some of you people are . It's embarasing

I am a crossbars ticket holder and i sit in the north upper , i had a phone call today regarding crossbars been told that my seat in the north upper is ok as well as my crossbars ticket, was told legends is going ,and they are gonna open the whole lot up into 1 big suite , i dont think they will be moving people out if their seats if they do its out of order , was also told drinks at half time are complimentary lets see how long that lasts , from wot i gather they just want people using the place more after the game on a regular basis because normally its dead.
The onlt thing they never mentioned was the price increase can anybody tell me how much.

To be fair Yann a lot of fellow fans are surrounded by people they get on with and know, people they've been sat with for years and built up friendships with. Having sat as a season ticket holder in both the North and East, I can assure you it makes a massive difference. It definitely makes the game a better experience not to be surrounded by dickheads.
I've always gone to games with pals and we've always tried to get on with the people we sit next to and have a little chat. Out of that I've met fellow Addicks that I'd have a good beer with any time. It's what makes us Charlton.
Ok fair enough that was part of my arguement which is redundant now as no one has to move . But my main point is I can't believe people wouldn't go watch Charlton if they had to move a few rows it's ridiculous.

Just because you have no friends, it doesn't mean others don't :-) That's a smiley there in case you miss it.

Quite. I wonder if they have ever considered opening it to non members ?

Not sure what the fuss is you don't have to sit in front six rows and if you do you don't have to move!

What happens IF they sell 750 Crossroads Season tickets and only have space for 200 seats in the first 6 rows, as all the old season ticket holders have kept their seats and have refused to see Miss Diane and Benny at half time

Not now but that was the ruling until it was changed, partially due to the "fuss"

Because they have changed the proposal. Prior to the change you did.

Precisely, which has been one of my points all along.
Would it not be easier to leave the whole cross bar thing alone and just open a after game bar/restuarent which offers subsidised prices for ST holders????? If they want to keep people at the valley after the game.
Comments
If this happens I am not renewing at all.
B is this not going to destroy any atmosphere generated by the noisiest stand in the ground?

We are people not chattels to be moved on a whim.

Charlton fans read 'change' as 'imminent death or eternal torture'.
Just relax!
Just a radical thought.
