Just back from ski-ing in Slovenia so probably one of the few that benefits from the postponement. Happy to take tickets and coach off someone who can't make the rearranged fixture to save wasting them. Contact me if interested. I am in Orpington.
Back in the day, we had a 12 hour drive to Port Vale only to find out it was off when we got there. No internet or mobile phones in those days. Now that really was something to be peed off about.
Been in a couple of hours or so after driving back from Sheffield. Heard on the wireless it was off just after I had gone through Gainsborough, went on to Sheffield to collect a friend and bring them back to London. Not the best of awaydays, but it has probably already been mentioned, we're in the draw, so the fun continues for a while. I reckon we will all make new plans of some kind after we see who we could possibly get in the next round.
Fans COULD have been warned on Friday night.. Poor treatment of fans.. Not sure who to point a finger at.. Clattenburg, Wednesday or the FA .. Too late anyway - was looking forward to the noise of 2000 today :-(
Just on this point of advance warning I think you have to admit there was plenty, on Friday and before. Howling winds, South eastern trains cancelling trains in advance, a solid week of flooding over a large part of the country, even Operation Pig, in Sheffield, telling us his view was the game was 50/50, Owlstalk members also pessimistic. Decision to travel made harder when you have had to buy match tickets and travel beforehand and it's a damn shame and an inconvenience of course, but everyone surely knew the risk before setting out today.
Was on the 8.56 and found out as we pulled away that there was a pitch inspection. During the journey I spoke with pal who is now the Sheff U Managing Director and he said it had been awful weather up there all week. The Blades, being the biggest club in the Steel City, have their pitch covered. Sadly for all of us, the little wendies didn't!
Don't get why Michael Vaughan couldn't just talk a lot of hot air all over it. Would have been fine in no time!!
Good beers in The Globe with Guinness, Curb-it and a good few other CL'ers and fans. Well done to East Coast trains...really good of them to allow us back on any train. Roll on the rearranged game...
Get what you're saying swords, but East Coast trains didn't cancel anything, it was bright & sunny all the way up (only rain was as we actually got out at Sheffield), United have their pitch covered and, even then, most of the news of flooding all week has been in the south.
I suspect 95% of us who went by train had all booked tickets well in advance, if only because it's so expensive anyway and even more so if you don't book early. We got through the hassle of southeastern staying in bed this morning to find a great service by East Coast.
I know TelMc and easy for me to say as i hadn't committed to go. You make the extra effort and only to find there were no covers and the ref could very probably have called it off earlier. Something has to change as in this day and age it seems very wrong that fans have to run the risk. I personally think the train companies could do more too. Not only are walk up fares so enormous but a helpful refund policy could benefit train company and fan.

Very funny, actually our game with Wigan went ahead mid-week but as it's been raining non stop then sometimes covers might not have helped either, funny how the pigs game was called off on Wednesday (the day after our game), did your managing director mate tell you that it was Forest who actually insisted on the covers as the Pigs didn't want to pay for them so Forest went halves.
Oh and whilst you're digging, Charlton V Barnsley P.1 at 2pm was it?
Got the 10.26 out of st pancs only to be told by some bright spark there was a pitch inspection at 10.30....all week we were told that a top quality ground like massiveboro could take the rain....still got off at derby and had a happy few hours in the brunswick.....and just got home...

Your lot are a two bob outfit....cast your mind back a few weeks when the owletts were giving us shit about the state of our pitch....you should be ashamed cost me 120 bucks today coming from basingstoke me and my son...wheres me comp
Once you've paid you're comitted even if it was called of friday or thursday you wouldve booked the train tickets already
I think it was obvious on weds evening the game wouldn't be played when the weather forcast for the next few days was on the news
That wouldn't have helped or stopped any wasted money except the copius amounts spent on booze today by most in boozers along the rte
For once i am in agreement with you before i left this morning i was £90 down before i left so at that point as NLA says you may as well take the gamble.....
I always thought Sheffield Wednesday were so MASSIVE they would have a spare Hillsborough (or two) on standby for an eventuality like today! Will Semedo refund my petrol money is what I want to know?
If I'm correct, Rotherham is less than 10 miles from the home of football that is Hillsborough. Odd then how they managed to play their Div 1 game today. Perhaps the bad weather just skirted around sunny old Rotherham. Or perhaps they didn't have half their team out injured.
Piggy, your now trying to back out if the corner your two bob club have left u in - your comments on Thursday and Friday about the game always going to be played were crass, even an idiot would see that not covering the pitch and the weather forecast meant the game was never going to be played. Almost 2000 fans have had their day ruined, but nothing coming from your lot about getting us back up to your shithole in 10 days time.
I don't think OP is an official representative of SWFC Andy mate but if you do intend to try to get some compo i think you could try being more polite.
I drove into Sheffield from the East, through Rotherham and every few miles the weather was changing, sometimes dramatically. It is a massive drag, but no kind of conspiracy at all. It was poxy bad luck 'sall.
Swords alive, I will make what ever comment I want, got nothing to do with u what I what I want to say, cant do rearranged date so personally not looking for any compo other than tickets refund for me and my party of 6 others, which I know I will get. More upset that we will now have 300-400 for the game rather than 1900, andcrass coments from fans like you.......
Nearly 9 hours on the road with pick ups and the dartford bridge shut was gutted couldn't care less now what happens in the fixture had my fill of charlton although today they was not to blame
Hopped off at Chesterfield, like many others, to try and salvage something from the postponement. Had an excellent pub lunch in a very old pub, the Royal Oak and enjoyed the game against Torquay after a tepid first half. A new ground for us, a very friendly bunch of people and, I might add, an excellent pitch (recognising that the ground is only four years old). Hopefully, we shall not be retracing our steps next season because I think Chesterfield are on the way up.

With all due respect the weather up here has been very bad, it was supposed to get better today but it didn't if anything it got worse, even if we did have covers on they would've had to come off around 1pm, with the amount of rain falling after that time it could've still been off, the weather wasn't that bad on Friday afternoon.

Rotherham also have a new stadium, they invested quite alot in their drainage system, they have also raised their pitch by quite a lot so the water table doesn't affect them, something that affects Hillsborough being next to the River Don.

I've said I feel sorry for those who made the trip, but Clattenburg didn't even arrive at the ground until 10.30, but even at that time at least some of you were able to turn round and not continue, but I dn't quite get how you can say that when your club has let fans down this season too, (2pm PI V Barnsley)
Lets not forget Wednesday fans have been affected by this as well!
