When we got flooded in 2007 it absolutely destroyed both the drainage and the under soil heating, a reported 4m will be needed to rectify this, I'm not sure many clubs could afford that outlay when most of the time it isn't needed.

Like our excuses for the broken drainage under the pitch, I just don't accept that as an excuse. And like us, you've had several years to resolve the situation and haven't.

You are a professional football club and without a pitch to play on, the whole raison d'etre for your club disappears.

I expect that on average, the loan players you've had in this year are costing 500k a year each, plus the loan fees - and you've actually bought in 21 new players into the club this season. Several of these players (most of the time) haven't been needed.
As for bringing players in, we've relied on freebies and loanees to remain being quite frugal.
Playing your youth team in is frugal.

Bringing in players like Connor Wickham, who cost you £50k a week in loan fees and salary whilst he was with you isn't.

50k a week? Ha ha yer off yer tree.

He cost us less than 10k a week.

Doesn't some loans involve a fee as well as wages?

    50k a week ??? Really where's that come from
From another Club that tried to get him in on loan.

I think thats a number picked randomly.
£25k a week wages and £25k a week loan fee - for the period of his loan at Wednesday.

Did he? Sunderland wanted more than that in a loan fee. To be fair though they are a PL Club, so perhaps you got a discount.

Or Milan used his Clubcard vouchers.

If the pitch inspection has been postponed, does anyone know when it will take place?

The Charlton pitch has serious drainage problems. Hillsborough has no drainage problems. The situation is completely different. Where were the covers for this game ? Rotherham got their game on and they are just round the corner. I think Mandaric is looking for the best possible situation for the tie regarding injuries and getting the new loan players up to speed.

Thats football, the Massives should be honest about it. Trying to reflect back to the Charlton situation to deflect on what happened yesterday is not on. Owls and OP need to concentrate on what happened yesterday.

A few years back after Charlton beat Chelsea 4-2 at the Valley, Chelsea choose to relay their pitch, sand it and not share that with Charlton. Chelsea players had the right footwear and turned Charlton over. Massive teams take whatever advantage they can to win games.

Wendies want the best situation possible.

How do you know we haven't got drainage problems? as it happens we have.

Covers wasn't needed on Friday, some rain was due but the forecast said it would die out on Sat.

    Clattenburg called it off.

Did men really land on the moon? I'll let you decide.
  • Like the way some of our fans dig our own club when we had the barnsley game called off, saying 'we are embarrassing'. 'Hope the fa throw the book at us'. 'Dock us points'.

Yet the minute it happens to us at other clubs is 'Pot calling kettle black'. 'We can't say anything with our problems'. 'We cant give anyone grief for games getting called off'

I probably had a pop at our own club for that barnsley game but you are allowed to still get angry and have a pop when it is another club.

It's fair to criticise for lack of covers and have a moan about the ref turning up so late etc.

However calling them a tinpot club and two bob when we've had a Sunday league pitch for 2 years is a bit hypocritical.
  • Oh, all the referees fault then. Nothing to do with the Wendies. Not unhappy about the game being called off though eh OP ?

  • I'm in Wakefield waiting for a train with a crap hangover. I'm done with Sheffield.
  • I've been all the way to Gillingham in the past to find it was off, so ended up at WHU, it happens...

You poor poor man. You have my utmost sympathy. I hope you had your vaccinations prior to entering Upton Park?

  • Wednesday should resign from the cup.
  • We got as far as Derby yesterday when we heard the news.

Got off there, quick pint in the Brunswick, train back to London, onto the Axe, then Browns, a few Tina Turners, cab home, battered.

Was a good day out with mates. Who needs the football?

Didn't bother reading the whole thread. Not sure I can be.

Happy to see Charlton and Wednesday in the QF draw. It will make the prize for the game more interesting. Charlton have a few more days refine the strategy, integrate the new players and take the QF prize from the Massives.

To ales and trams. Happy to agree on that.

  • sat with head steward, a Forest fan, he said no way when he arrived at 8

Owls - how's the injury situation? All ok for the rearranged game? Cool.

  • Conspiracy theory regarding Massives' injuries overlooks the fact that we benefit by Wiggins having an extra week's recovery. Plus Hamer, possible loanees....
  • Yes on Wiggins and Hamer, but no loanees will be able to play as they weren't registered for original game.

You've said it yourself there, if there was any inkling of rain why on earth would you not put the covers on? Not your fault obviously and I doubt the conspiracy theory, but that is a cock up from the groundsmen.

Our pitch is sh*t and is touch and go even in the dry. Yours could've been played on had the correct precautions been taken. That's my view of it.
