It's a good job we are away to the Wendies next week, if we were at home, we would be guaranteed to a ball in the next round draw, as a week might not be long enough for the pitch to recover.
I think the youth team have an FA Cup fixture at The Valley next week !
The match won't be postponed. The Club have done more than enough to prevent this happening.
However, once the covers are off, the pitch could be subject to almost 4 hours of constant rain. In these circumstances, the chances of an abandoment are surely quite high.
What's the latest they can come off before the match, is it 11am or could it be left later?
I use xc weather and that is saying that there is due to be 0.1 mm of rain from around 6:00 right through the day. Hopefully with the covers on all day today and upto the time they come of the game will be on

Best not to take too much notice of those computer-generated forecasts. Here's the Met Office text forecast :- Tonight:
Further cloud and rain will spread in again by midnight. This will become heavy at times before clearing Kent by around dawn. Temperatures kept well above freezing. Minimum temperature 5 °C. Saturday:
A very windy day with bright or sunny spells and squally heavy showers with perhaps hail or thunder. Winds will gust 50-60mph inland and 70mph near coasts. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Essentially, if we miss the showers we should be OK but we could be hit by a run of heavy downpours, in which case ......

I'm not sure it's as simple as the cover being on and therefore, by implication ensuring the pitch stays dry. If it were then there'd no need for an inspection today surely ? I think it's more of an issue as to where the rainwater goes when it runs of the cover. I've a feeling given the lack of drainage that it seeps back into the pitch with a knock on effect on the water table which remains high.
Stop panicking people. The precautionary inspection was going to happen no matter what the weather after what happened against Barnsley. The pitch is fine, the game will be on.
My team down the road newport county have postponed their 5th league game of the season with no action against them so far. So we need to be thankful, it could be worse!

I don't doubt that. Whether it will finish is another matter.

Maybe we can just "loan" Liege's pitch.
