  • Met office saying heavy rain all morning and light rain in afternoon so think we should be fine.

  • It's a good job we are away to the Wendies next week, if we were at home, we would be guaranteed to a ball in the next round draw, as a week might not be long enough for the pitch to recover.

I think the youth team have an FA Cup fixture at The Valley next week !

The match won't be postponed. The Club have done more than enough to prevent this happening.

However, once the covers are off, the pitch could be subject to almost 4 hours of constant rain. In these circumstances, the chances of an abandoment are surely quite high.

What's the latest they can come off before the match, is it 11am or could it be left later?
  • I use xc weather and that is saying that there is due to be 0.1 mm of rain from around 6:00 right through the day. Hopefully with the covers on all day today and upto the time they come of the game will be on

Do the dome allow for the pitch to get some sun?

Partially. But I understand that they have been removing the cover when it's dry & replacing when rain was due.
Blimey, I bet that dome has been up and down a few times then.
    Like the Asyrrian empire!

  • We are domed I tell ye, domed.

I'll take that with a pinch of salt. Often, the met office can't accurately tell me what the weather is like NOW, let alone the next day...

Best not to take too much notice of those computer-generated forecasts. Here's the Met Office text forecast :-
    Tonight:

Further cloud and rain will spread in again by midnight. This will become heavy at times before clearing Kent by around dawn. Temperatures kept well above freezing. Minimum temperature 5 °C.
    Saturday:

A very windy day with bright or sunny spells and squally heavy showers with perhaps hail or thunder. Winds will gust 50-60mph inland and 70mph near coasts. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Essentially, if we miss the showers we should be OK but we could be hit by a run of heavy downpours, in which case ......
  • I'm forecasting that there will be weather on Saturday

I'm sure they said it could stay on till 1-1.30.

  • I'm not sure it's as simple as the cover being on and therefore, by implication ensuring the pitch stays dry. If it were then there'd no need for an inspection today surely ? I think it's more of an issue as to where the rainwater goes when it runs of the cover. I've a feeling given the lack of drainage that it seeps back into the pitch with a knock on effect on the water table which remains high.
  • Is there an inspection planned
  • If is off I will really throw my s/t in the bin and my toys out my pram as it will be another midweek I can't make
  • The MacLeod cover????? Then Izale expect the game to be on
  • Stop panicking people. The precautionary inspection was going to happen no matter what the weather after what happened against Barnsley. The pitch is fine, the game will be on.
  • My team down the road newport county have postponed their 5th league game of the season with no action against them so far. So we need to be thankful, it could be worse!
  • It'll be gutting if this one is called off. Really looking forward to seeing our new boys up front.
Maybe we can just "loan" Liege's pitch.

I don't doubt that. Whether it will finish is another matter.

  • Precautionary pitch inspection at 3.30pm today, ahead of tomorrow's game.
  • Course it will go ahead the pitch is in a bleeding dome
  • Course it will go ahead the pitch is in a bleeding dome

Game off due to a bloodlogged pitch
  • BBC are saying that heavy rain will start at 2pm and go on until 5pm!!!!!
  • Games going to be called off! Doncaster all over again
  • Welling off tomorrow
  • Is it always so rainy in England?Seems it really is.No wonder they say English people always carry an umbrella when they go out.
