  • trialled at Liverpool and Monaco, and has already played twice for his country. Random one.

TBH since dizee's Pu Edam thread a couple of days ago I have been reading all target names with suspicion and reversing them just to make sure. I ain't being fooled again!
  • No chance of getting IBE in my opinion.

    More likely to get IBS.
  • In today's SLP we are being linked with Leon Best, Jonny Williams, L Bechicho and SWP

    Yes please.

  • A batch of rumours from Cawley from today's SLP to give us hope ,although he does prefex his article by saying 'it remains to be seen' if RD will fund these purchases.

Jonathan Williams from Palace is described as a 'loan target'.

Norwich's ex Leeds striker Luciano Becchio and Blackburn's Leon Best are described as 'greatly admired' and 'would provide the physical presence' lost by Yann's departure.

Finally he thinks we could be soon singing he's better than Brad as we are also 'keen' on SWP who has only played once for QPR since November.

Personally I think all of them would be realistic and welcome.
  • All, any, someone with Championship experience...
  • Yes please
  • If we didn't want to pay Yann a bit more I can't see how we will pay SWP wages, unless QPR are willing to pay most of it for us.

  • Like the sound of that get them in before Saturday and start off by getting in the fa cup quarter final then crack on finishing mid table (we can dream).
  • If we didn't want to pay Yann a bit more I can't see how we will pay SWP wages, unless QPR are willing to pay most of it for us.

But the offer for Max Gradel was way higher than anyone of us might have expected. I think RD is willing to shell out if he thinks the player is worth it, but concluded that Yann, at 32, was not.
  • what is the point of more strikers if we don't have the players to get the ball to them

All of the above please. Especially Williams and SWP. Would that be the first time brothers have played for Charlton but at different times?

Andy and John Salako off the top of my head.

One of Curb's brothers played a few times for our reserves.Derek Walsh brother of Colin similarly played on trial a couple of times.

Sam Sodje first played for us when Akpo was elsewhere but eventually as you know they played together and, I believe, have played together for Charlton more than any other brothers.

Reading that article...means absolutely no chance of SWP if he's still on Man City/Chelsea wage standard!!

Aah yes the "offer" of £1.5m.

I remain extremly sceptical of Mr Duchatalet's tactics.

So far he's got rid of our best keeper, midfielder & talisman forward. Despite what people think of the replacements they have weakened the squad.

Playing Rezza with Kermorgant would have been perfect. Having Astrit, Loic and the rest as squad players would have been great.

Time to show us you mean business Mr Duchatalet.

They realise they have no chance of anyone taking his wages though, so surely us taking say 20% of his wages is better than nothing?

I personally believe the squad is stronger than the beginning of jan and we'll find out soon enough.
  • I think the squad is stronger now too.
  • The squad is stronger as we now have 4 strikers an extra cover at the back. Coupled with the development of Lennon and Poyet.

However our starting 11 is weaker, Yann/Stephens/Alnwick and Cameron Stewart were all first choice and the jury is out on whether they have been replaced (in Stewart's case, he has not been).

Agreed. Having more players in a squad doesn't make us a better team.

Maybe i should have said he hasn't enhanced our chances of winning matches.

This is a quote from the article:
“If any of them want to take a thousand-per-cent drop in wages or something, they can, but you don’t see too many doing that."
Given that a 100% drop is wages means you earn nothing, a 1000% drop would mean not only not getting paid what they were, they pay out nine times that amount to the club they play for. On that basis, I'd say sign them all!
