I would like to clarify my last comment. I am not saying SWP is or ever has been a mercenary, my point is we need people who want to play for Charlton, not just turn up to collect their wage packet.

In our current situation we need people who will keep us in the Championship and IMO SWP will do that compared to what we currently have got.
What if Roland invests zero in the loan window but puts out a couple of press releases out saying we just missed out on x and y?
Then, either CP works a miracle and keeps us up with the juniors and Belgian rejects and then gets sacked (or "sadly can't agree new contract terms") costing Roland nothing...
Or..
we are relegated and CP is universally blamed for it with his hopeless tactics, wrong sort of hat, bringing on Danny Green instead of Lionel Messi etc etc and Roland appoints his own coach and is seen as the saviour of SE7 as he brings in players to get promotion in 2015. A new dawn, fresh shoots of recovery, young players the way ahead, blah blah blah..
As part of a long term business plan, why would Roland bail out a manager who is leaving in the summer anyway? Does the original purchase price get discounted if we go down? He already has a (circa) £1 million cushion based on the sale of 3 of our best players.
As I say, just a thought but I have a nasty suspicion that the only person at Charlton FC who does not prioritise avoiding relegation at all costs is the owner (for sound business reasons) and the only player we will see in the loan window is Francois Diddly-Squat.
Have to say, my heart sank a bit when I saw SWP's name.
Relied heavily on his pace in his prime, now 32 and not so quick anymore. Part of an on paper very strong QPR squad that sulked their way to relegation. Not been a regular starter for anyone for ages. Career has been on a downward trijectory for several years. Bit of a light weight and most significantly he's a right winger, not a left winger which is what we need most.
He may be well known but I think he's been living on a past glories for a while and I don't think he's the type of character you need to battle your way out of a relegation scrap.

Personally I'd give him a miss.
Pretty much my feelings too - but at least he would be another body in the squad and would have to be better than we have.
You are bang on though, his form has been in steady decline ever since he left City for Chelsea the first time.
Given that most of us consider Sordell as being half hearted a lot of the time, and given that Bolton fans were warning what he was like, I would seriously worry about how commited SWP would be to our cause. His wages would probably be cheaper in the long run than relegation, but we can't afford another half hearted passenger. Bring in someone with a point to prove.
SWP is not a nice man. I met him once after he'd just joined Chelsea, tongue in cheek, if he'd join us in the summer. He looked at me like a horse had just shit in his wallet and replied with a disgusted no. Poor attitude.
SWP= JFH= relegation again? Lots of similarities. One thing is for sure, with Roland what the fans think won't make the slighest difference.
CP sacked? SWP or any decent loan players? Poyet and Cousins sold? Roland will decide based on his business interests. Only time will tell whether Roland is a force for good as far as Charlton are concerned.

In the medium to long term I think Roland will be good for us and his system of having sister clubs across the continent could be interesting in the development of some of our youngsters as well as incoming Liege loanees .For example would Azeez be better off in terms of development at Albercon or Dagenham? SCP currently has a trial period to see if he can adapt and work with the new way of doing things by acquiring players through RD's family of clubs as well as through the traditional scouting networks .
My fear is the short term of the next three months. We need a lift now and in terms of staying up this season we have a weaker squad than we did at the start of the window , I hope he does back SCP in obtaining 3 decent players in this window all of those quoted in the SLP would fit the bill.

Sounds like exactly what he did at Standard Liege.
Why can we never get hungry young players on loan? Here's hoping we manage to this time. Other teams get them and yet we are always left with the players that don't really seem to try and are not that bothered. True there have been a few exceptions but not many. Hope to be proved wrong this time
If we have the chance of bringing in a player who is better than what we have - I'm sorry, but I am not too bothered if he loves us, wants to play for us or whether he is nice of not. We are beyond that stage IMO.
nobody in unless there's scope for any of the other sub-standard conglomerate to foist off a couple of non-playing deadwoods out will go anybody for whom there is (theoretical) cover in the squad and especially if some sort of fee is offered roly & kath have laid their cards on the table and everybody is fair game regardless of any sense added to which they have a ready made scapegoat in SCP who they will dump at the end of the season whatever the outcome
while we are dicking about as usual other teams are getting players in. Semedo got injured last night & will be out of around 6 weeks, so Sheff W have reacted straight away & have got a replacement midfielder in from Villa.
When does the loan window close? Its possible we are waiting for this weekend to pass because we could be looking at players that are cup tied and there is no point paying them an extra week's wages if they can't play... Just trying to be devils advocate, though the more liklihood is dick all is happening.
Forgot about Cameron Stewart, Personally i think Powell finds it hard to attract the right players we need at the club, whether it be the location, the manager, money, or our style of play, and as for Sordell and the rest of them its about time they started to show some pride and passion, put all the off-field shit to one side and solely focus on thier responsibilities on the pitch. Rant over.

same old Charlton.
The needle returns to the start of the song and we all mess around like before.
