1. Rumours of signings, some reasonable, perhaps one good one signalling ambitious intent 2. Feeling hopeful, positive even 2. Rumoured signings join other clubs 3. We get more inexperienced or untested players that our inexperienced manager is expected to meld into a team, mid bloody season whilst we sit in the relegation zone 4. Disappointment then feeling stupid for bothering to hope
Well Roland you probably don't give a monkeys, but if strengthening Charlton's squad isn't a priority for you, then neither is renewing my circa £430 season ticket. I'll reconsider once I've worked out whether you're a serious owner or not.
My mood is not helped by Bournemouth fans at work telling me what a good signing Kerm is. Even the Doncaster fan is offering me sympathy!

Feeling much the same Valley Mick. Both long term season ticket holders. The thing is that this season that relegation is very avoidable. The board like to talk a good game but nothing actually happens to provide any evidence that they are interested in keeping the team up. My loan expectations were not that high and even from that low level, RD is managing to even further underwhelm me. So far this takeover is shite in terms of the team actually getting better or strengthening. Its all a lot of Annie Halls so far.
Oh well, we have lots of media interviews where the board will tell us us how wonderful everything will be.
My improved match day experience is a decent team on a decent pitch with a safe stadium. Only one out of three at the moment.
It seems to me that we're going after higher quality players than usual , rob hulse , dan seabourne ect , to boateng and swp. And that's obviously why we're struggling in this window I suppose .
Also yes we do have CMs but they are either too old, too young and or lack experience at a high level. If he can come in and help the two youngsters whilst also aiding their development what is not to like?
If we were going to try and sign boateng we should have just taken frimpong on a free
Bit different isn't it. One is an experienced international who has played in Europe plenty of times , and the other one is frimpong , did u watch him the last time ?
Firstly Cawley explains the situation around Leon Best.
Apparently he is on £30,000 a week and we had a deal in place to pay part of it . At the last minute the Massives offered to pay double their original offer to get their man, the fact that Best's partner is about to give birth to twins so he could stay in the north probably also influenced the situation. As I have said before we must remember that often these decisions are taken by players not because they have feelings about a particular club / manager ,but because like all of us the have family/home lives to consider.
On to Boateng the SLP states that he wants to play regularly so that he can be in the Ghana World Cup squad and that he was due to go to Watford last month but that fell through. My own thoughts are that the new manager coming in at the Cottage might scupper this deal because Magath would want to look at his player assets.
Cawley states we currently have 5 loanees and Boateng would make it 6 . I think this is inaccurate because currently we only have Thuram, Astrit and Sordell as first team loans . Although Koc is also a loan he hasn't yet been named in a squad and didn't even appear for the U21's last night. So by my calculations we currently have 4 of which 1 is not really a first team player. I would say we at least have room for 2 more and if Hamer is fit we could even have a third if Phillips rather than Thuram is on the bench.

Decent points Richard J but forget the last one. Thuram is not here to be third choice.

If it means he'll play ahead of our own players such as Cousins and Poyet then they can keep him. Developing our own players is more important than making sure some second-rate journeyman makes a World Cup squad.
Signing Boateng could allow jordan cousins to play RB as cover for Nego.
alternatively, a midfield 3 of Cousins/Astrid/Boateng would be well-balanced with strength and skill, albeit fairly defensive in outlook. obviously that would seemingly leave no room for Poyet to start.
Derek Boateng had a decent-ish African Nations 2013. he is a bit hit and miss but is a monster who can play a lot, certainly can pick a pass.
also had an interesting career in terms of contracts, his move from Dnipro to Fulham went to CAS (court of arbitration for sport) as Dnipro didnt let him move in the January 2013 window. he is outspoken and has been poorly advised in the past.
his game is ideally suited to a relegation dogfight if he comes with the committment and vigour he usually displays for the Black Stars.

In principle I agree with you ,but the weight of games coming up means we don't want to burn Jordan and Diego out or be caught without cover if they are injured.
It is a lot to expect 2 teenagers to hold the midfield together for 2 games a week during March and April. an example would be this weekend if Boateng played against QPR then a fresh Poyet would be available against the massives.

Agreed RJ, against Birmingham and by some accounts Wigan, Poyet in particular seemed to wane slightly as the game dragged on - which is no slight, he's young and still developing, Shelvey rarely lasted the full 90 on his first few appearances and he turned out okay! Our fixtures are piling up fast even without the cup to worry about, a proven, experienced central midfielder ticks several important boxes - though I do wonder where that would leave Hughes.

So did Florent Rouamba!
Nope..rouamba actually had an exceptional ACN but i take your point.
I am an avid fan of african football so just sharing a bit of background detail.
imo DB would either be exceptional or terrible depending on his mindset.. can be very temperamental.

He is an unfortunate impediment in the Roland's social engineering master-plan for EU football domination on the cheap.
CP: "So do you expect me to walk, Roland?"
Roland (stroking a fluffy white pussy): No Mr Powell... I expect you to die"
With apologies to Ian Fleming.
And that's obviously why we're struggling in this window I suppose .
Richard Murray had a lot to do with us wasting money on Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank,
wouldn't take what he says too seriously
