How many times have we seen CP bring on Devite towards the end and it doesnt work, sheff weds at home, I am sorry but anybody who keeps believing in Pritchard has lost it. Sorry but CP to negative , we drop back and loose or we are trying at best to get a draw.
* Reza looked capable up top and showed some nice touches and positivity *Poyet looks quality, despite a few midplaced passes at inopportune moments *AA was very commited * Lennon did well out of position, Morro and Wood were well organised and the new right back made some good tackles..... basically the defence dealt well with a lot of pressure for a looooong period
1st Half *Lucky goal. Sordell finished well. *Wigan were clearly better but we contained it well enough and looked dangerous on occasion. * Sordell crap. lacked phydicality and just wrong.
2nd Half *kept pumping long balls up to strikers * when we played with 1 striker we kept pumping long balls *when we played with no strikers we still pumped long balls *sordell actually put some good pressure on *wigan all over us.... butttt... we kept them out for so long
was buzzing as we got closer to the end....
away end kept support going well.... lots of screams to leave someone up when we kept clearing to nobody
but

@stonemuse sitting next to your son but we haven't managed to bring ourselves to talk about the game yet.our son but we haven't managed to bring ourselves to talk about the game yet.
The 'chance to gel' time allowance hold very little water with me this time around. Gel? Poyet, who was playing in the under 14s two weeks ago needs time to learn the game and mature.Same with the other youngsters, who now it seems are very much in the limelight due to an inept and unsatisfactory transfer period. This side has been unbalanced for many a month and by my reckoning it is now seriously close to toppling over. The chance to right it has now passed and Chris Powell has been let down very badly AGAIN.As we all have.
Feel absolutely gutted to concede 2 goals in 2 mins and lose is awful.Birmingham at home is a must win which we all no now.Feel really pissed off that we never go for that second goal to win a game home or away cant understand powells mindset.
Leave awuf addicket2thereds we are shocking. There's no desire or faith it's pure try and score and survive! If we go one nil down then it's purely survive without being humiliated. Apart from Brighton (best game of the season) we deserve what we have out of our season so far...... NOTHING

Have a look at the difference in quality between the two sides today on paper, realistically we are never gonna compete with that! It says it all that they're not even good enough for the play-offs but have a squad like that ...
We are going down with a wimper. We should be at least trying to attack. Will Powell ever learn to not bring on defenders for midfielders to see out games!
Powell is costing us points but it is all good he is a top bloke.
Bringing on Dervite has helped us protect leads too, it's just that it's the time we concede after doing so that are remembered. If Powell had been supported this year, by both the old owners and the new, I am certain we would not be in our current predicament. He has his hands tied. For sure he makes mistakes, we all do, but the ONE time he has been backed he stormed the league with 101 points. He has proven himself to be a successful manager when given backing.
As I said in another thread regarding the Dervite substitution costing us the game myth - the only other time I could find - Birmingham at home last season. 15 sub appearances before today & only 1 goal conceded after he came on as a sub.
I wasn't there - but from afar was it such a bad decision - the stats show that he is a very effective sub if we don't want to concede, we have a brand new RB playing his first game, a LB playing his second & two centre halves who had been under the gun all the game. Giving them an extra body for the last 9 minutes at the expense of another guy who has a serious lack of game time under his belt (AA) wasn't a bad call.
I would say again from afar that Sordell should have been switched for Church though.
I can't believe the pessimism on here this evening and the Powell out brigade striking again! I bet they're over the moon was probably bricking it at half time thinking they'd have to go underground for a while.
Did anyone actually expect to beat Wigan today? I certainly didn't. Yes we have some new blood but Reza can't be 100% fit, I can't wait til he is he was quite impressive and wiggins got injured and the new players have had no time to gel yet, the old players also need time to gel with the new, they've had to say goodbye to some teammates emotions must be raw and there is still some uncertainty to the future of the gaffer! We are obviously still lacking in midfield and it's not like Powell hasn't tried to fill the position, he was just unsuccessful. We were never going to win today we had little possession anyway and Wigan deserved it, probably should have been more. They should have has 3 at least.
We should be happy we played better than in the week and big Pete should hopefully play next time and maybe a midfielder on loan? We need to worry more about losing games we should win than losing games we on paper should lose. It's not the end of the world we have 19 games to go, some above us only have 17/18 we can do this. I am confident we will stay up just be patient.

The chance to right it has now passed and Chris Powell has been let down very badly AGAIN.As we all have.
But why do you say Chris Powell has been let down again. What about us fans being let down by Chris Powell? Isn't that relevant? I believe he did let us down today. We were 1-0 up. The first half we seemed to be pretty much in control. Then, a substitution or two seemed to disrupt the team and two quick goals later we lost. That has been a large part of the pattern of this season - promising so much but just not delivering when the rubber meets the road.
I believe RD is watching this situation very closely and is already weighing up what the options are for a replacement. He may give Chris a couple more games but if things don't change very quickly he'll be out.
Just back, comedy goalkeeper. Thought was going to be a northern 0-1 smash and grab that have enjoyed so much under CP but Thuram is a clown and if that's what CP has to deal with then wouldn't blame him for launching into RD right now. Hamer or Alnwick could have seen that out and given defence a chance. Only so many fires defenders can fight before you get burned.
2 points adrift from Millwall and 4 points adrift from the team above them. OK, 19 games to go but we are not much of a threat at the moment to pick up many points. How many away games have we been up against it for most of the game? Need a miracle now to avoid relegation.
Next week is massive. Anything less than a win and I think we can start planning for life in league one. Obviously we are still very close to a couple of teams, but we've got to start winning. Losing by very fine margins, competing for 80 odd minutes of a game is not an option come this stage of the season. I still back Powell, but my confidence is ebbing away in the squad. Too many of these players need to be shipped on. Dervite, Pritchard, Evina, Church, Wilson. They're all league one players, not up to the Championship. Jackson, past it. I hope the new players can kick in once settled. We're also going to have to get that one more loan next week as well, preferably midfield.
I would like to know how many goals we concede from set pieces as well, I think we're shocking at defending these. I want to be positive, BUT
Have not called for CP to go, but starting to think that although some new one is unlikely to do any better, could they do any worse ! so is it a gamble worth taking .
They might not do worse but they might just be an unlikeable wanker. I.e Warnock or Avram Grant who's been mentioned above. I'd rather do badly with someone I support and respect in charge. If Powell were to go they would have to do a very good job with his replacement.
You would rather do badly but with a manager who is a nice bloke. That's madness!!
That's not what I said. Read my post I said I'd rather do shit with a nice bloke than shit with tool like Warnock. Warnock won't save us. If we got a total bell end in who got us into the Prem I'd be delighted.
Haven't been able to onto CL due to meltdown for an hour or so!
Gutted, gutted, gutted. My connection to CL went down with 5 mins to go. It may have been the traffic due to the equalizer. I wanted to read the thread but couldn't get on again until now. Managed to find full time from TV. Shocked, frustrated and Wendies winning stuck the boot in. There is no silver lining. I feel for Powell. He may have made poor decisions about subs etc, but he can only send on who is available. 28-5 attempts says we should have been slaughtered over 90 mins. Such a pity to come away with nothing. I don't believe Powell can pick himself up after that result, let alone the team. I fear if Powell goes, then no decent manager would want to come to this mess of a club.
"Roland, you are now responsible for Charlton Athletic. Make sure you make some wise decisions now or your investment will have been a very, very expensive mistake."
I think that RD is just waiting for the right time to put his own coach in, it will be a coach and not a manager. It would be much better for all involved if an amicable settlement can be found.
I have a feeling that RD cares not much for what the Charlton supporters think at all or respecting the special place that CP has in Charlton supporters hearts. RD is just as likely to fire him just to show us supporters and all and sundry where our places are in the RD empire and that he is the biggest guy in the building with the authority and the biggest balls. That would be a mistake but I guess we can like it or lump it. RD should let CP leave with his dignity intact and able to move on where CPs talents can be best used, which is building a great team spirit and players who will fight to the end.
Lets see the next stage of the Duchatelet master plan in action already.

I also agree that too many of our squad just aren't good enough. There's so much that needs to be done that it's overwhelming. A residue of the past owners.

Well I wish the new 'yes' man well. Just hope turd polishing scores highly on his CV. One good thing I suppose. He won't have to worry about team selections and tactics. That will be Roland's job.

Not sure why the new regime think it's a good idea to force a goalie on a team in a relegation scrap when the current ones that have been chosen by the manager are doing a good job. GK was not the position we needed changing in this window. Not in a million years. Totally illogical.
Doncaster unbeaten in five now, Wednesday pulling away and safe. It's going to be us or Millwall who fill that third from bottom place unless Blackpool keep sliding down the table.
Just on our way back. Not angry with the result, after scoring in the 4th minutes, with our couple of efforts. All thing looked good, Wigan in the first half was happy to pass the ball out making us look comfortable, 2nd half was backs to the wall.
Negrow isn't near Solly level and the black fella in goal would only punch and couldn't catch a cold when they put pressure on the defence. He only caught a cross in the 85min
Overall fair result just gutted in the way it happened
what a load of rubbish talked by the majority who weren't at the DW stadium, how can you properly comment of a man's future when you didn't see him at work today but relied on 3rd party of no information.
I WAS AT THE DW
They played their hearts out, there was good and bad but they deserved a draw. It was a scratch team where about 40% of them had never played against a team who we have never beaten at the DW. Yes we went ultra defensive in the final 10 minutes but that has happened many times this season, it was difficult to see how Morrison gave away the free kicks for their 2nd but he did give away a number free kicks. So briefly The Good Goalie - unconventional but effective Lennon - stuck to the job and did well Poyet - real class Cousins - played on the right and helped the RB AA - never stopped running an diver gave up Reza - that guy has some shot on him
The Poor Morrison - gave the ball away too much RB - weak but tried Sordell - Ok he scrored well but never a threat for the rest of the game
CP - I hope he stays, he is a good manager and can only work with what he has at at present that isn't a lot, as others have said on other threads we need wingers and a mid field general

I reckon RD got an offer he couldn't refuse for Alnwick and thought he was quids in.
Were going to league one It won't be any fun All our players r on loan But we must not moan Let's sell the good players we got Sorry Charlton but that our lot
