I watched 'The Family Man' last night with the missus. It was released in 2000 so has some nice Christmas shots of New York with the World Trade Centre.

The basic premise is that a guy called Jack Campbell (Cage) flies to London at the age of 19 to pursue an internship at Barclays leaving behind a distraught girlfriend. 20 years later he's a single, but high flying stockbroker with loads of money, working away on Christmas eve to ensure a merger takes place.

He wakes up one day in a bed with the same woman but 20 years on - i.e. the life he would have had had he not flown to London.

Stars Nicolas Cage. Actually quite funny and I really enjoyed it. On Netflix.

    In reverse order:

    3. Scrooged. Bill Murray as the title character.
    2. Die Hard.
    1. Big Business. Laurel and Hardy selling Christmas trees

Just hearing the opening song makes me ready for Christmas.
  • I've promised myself I'll finally get round to watching "it's a wonderful life' this year.
  • National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

    This
  • I don’t have any particular favourites but I do tend to watch the same each year.

Long Kiss Good Night. I never really thought of it as a Christmas film but it’s set around Christmas time so I guess it must be.
    Die hard 1 & 2
    Trading Places
    Wonderful Life
    Scrooged

And definitely not Muppets, can’t stand that nonsense.

  • I've promised myself I'll finally get round to watching "it's a wonderful life' this year.
I watched the first half of it a few year's back, then thought I'd record the rest to watch the next night as it was late - recording failed.

So I got all the depressing bit and missed all what I assume is the uplifting stuff.

And haven't managed to catch it since!
  • I don’t wanna hear about your classics in black n white, it’s home alone 1&2, end of discussion, close the thread please admin.

When I put the Christmas lights up outside on Friday, I will become Chevy Chase. Doing a drum roll, singing ‘Joy to the World’ as I flick the switch as my dumbfounded family look on.

He's an annoying little git at times but quite nice when you get to know him.
Agreed, no respect for his elders though 😉.

  • Some classic crimbo films called out here

None top A Muppets Christmas Carol

Glorious film and captures Dickens book and tells the story perfectly

  • I forgot The Apartment, an amazing film.

There are three types of Christmas film.

    1. Films about Xmas
    2. Films set during Xmas
    3. Films we watch at Xmas

With that in mind, I’d go:

    1. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
    2. Die Hard or Gremlins
    3. Wizard of Oz Edit - I made a huge mistake. Clearly it's the LotR trilogy.
