out of interested has anyone seen the films they put on the Christmas movies channel? some of them are pretty special, not in a good way.

My missus has that channel on whenever she can. It's a collection of the worst Christmas movies ever made.
    Horrendous

The Bishops Wife with David Niven & Cary Grant. Sentimental tosh but a real annual favourite.

Trading Places holds a fond place in my memory for Xmas movies.

Trading Places is fabulous for 5 reasons:
    1) Multiple laugh out loud moments.
    2) Don Ameche's use of the 'n' word and Eddie Murphy's reaction.
    3) It was before Eddie Murphy became shit.
    4) Aykroyd's jamaican accent.
    5) Jamie Lee Curtis' boobies.

Point 5 is what it makes it such a fond memory!! But all your points are extremely valid. Another brilliant scene is the drunk Ackroyd eating the salmon nicked from the firm's Christmas party whilst travelling on the bus.

Not really fussed about 5, but love the whole "Ja, I am Inga from Sveden" segment. It's on Film4 on Friday at 9 :-)

Everyone who says It's a Wonderful Life also says that Fairytale of New York is the best Christmas song and Teenage Kicks is the best single ever.

And why do they say that? Because they've been brainwashed into doing so by the media.

It is a good, well crafted film. Trading places is great, but is it really a Christmas movie - yes it has references to Christmas but not sure I would class it as such.

Traumatised my daughter when she was a little 'un !

Ditto "Jaws" - she's NEVER been in the sea since then..

    Bad Mum !

  • Am I right in saying this thread is about films that are shown at Christmas, or do they have to have a Christmas theme about them?
  • It's a Wonderful Life

Utter nonsense as usual . Why do you think your opinion is always right and everyone else's is wrong ?

Brainwashed by the media ??? About it's A Wonderful Life ??? Please explain

I first saw that film when I was 6 years old , long before I ever read a newspaper but thanks for telling me and many others we are wrong .

You should watch it , it might just make you a better person ...

Charlton life wouldn't be the same without your trolling.

Fav Christmas movie: It's a Wonderful Life
Fav Christmas song: Back Door Santa - Clarence Carter
Fav all time song: Couldn't name one but Teenage Kicks wouldn't even be in my top thousand.
