What are our two players doing in the background? Lol.

If someone can get that photo A3 signed by DS and JJ I will reward a charity/museum handsomly.
    How much is handsomely?

Made me splutter my tea all over the sofa !!!!

  • Fame @ last for Lawrie Wilson .. he was 'selected' for the Daily Telegraph championship team of the day for Saturday ((:>) . well deserved, he's having a great season for us

I think Lawrie has been getting better and better the more first team playing time he has. He sometimes came in for the odd bit of stick last season, but I think he's now really established himself in the team. His work rate this season is up there with Pritch
Willo is a natural wing back - I bet his numbers in training and matches in terms of ground covered are impressive! He is always going to be more effective when bursting forward and now CP is prepared to trust the highly impressive young un in Jordan Cousins, he (and Wiggy) have far greater licence to get forward.

Pritch can never compete in the wide right area but then again there isn't much room in a middle two berth with DS, JC and JJ competing for central slots. But then again CP has form of always switching formations to accommodate the skipper and Pritch.

Think he should stick with 4-4-1-1 and A very healthy competition for places!
  • Wiggins has been involved in some strange pics this weekend...

If we win our next two, can we get above ourselves then?

And if we draw them, we'll be beside ourselves.

    lol

Fair enough Adam, and my view was there's "always one".

    Move on.

Nope...........you can make that 2 !!. Yes it was a great result & it seems that the way we are currently set up is better for away games as its more defensive and harder to break down. However, this isn't really going to work playing at home & somehow CP will have to work out a way that will please the home supporters as I, for one, would like to see some attacking play that results in goals for once.

Also, great result as it was yesterday, the common thread from reading the posts on here is that is was a very, very poor B'ham side that were there to be beaten. The real test comes next week against Leeds & then the re-arranged Donny game.
But Golfie, put yourself in CP's position.

It's all about getting points on the board. If we'd lost this week. we'd have been in the bottom 3.
As someone posted, playing this way we're just keeping our heads above water.

As someone else posted, Birmingham were poor - but it was Charlton who made them look poor.
And it's only month ago that Birmingham thumped Millwall 4-0 ......a fortnight after Millwall had beaten us at The Valley.

And of course, you're spot on that we need to see home wins. That makes for a Happy Valley.
But I'm pretty sure CP will do whatever he feels it takes to we keep the unbeaten run going - that breeds the confidence to play more entertaining football.

  • Great post, Oggy.
  • If we won the league by winning 1 nil or 2 - 1 every game he would still be unhappy

    Well put.

We'd all like to see the team go out and play attacking, entertaining football but if CP set them up to do that, we'll be back in League One next season.

That's pretty obvious to anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of the game.

CP is doing what's necessary to keep us treading water in this Division in the hope that at some stage soon, somebody with some money is waiting around the corner to take over and invest some money in the squad.

Spot on. And if that 'treading water' means we push up the league (like last year) so much the better.

It's great that we have accumulated 8 pts while scoring 2 goals. But it's a sad state of affairs when attacking and entertaining football is regarded as synonymous with certain relegation.

Actually, I thought we were pretty attack-minded v Wigan and it was one of the most entertaining goal-less matches I've seen in a while. So I'm not sure I accept that this team cannot be entertaining.

With Stephens stroking the ball around silkily, Stewart starting to produce a few tricks and Wiggins and Wilson getting forward effectively, I'm finding the football very enjoyable at the moment. It just needs more "end product", as what used to be called "goals" seems to have been renamed...

  • I don't even have a rudimentary understanding of the game, So I won't post what I was going to!
