It's a huge leap of faith to think Peter Varney's connection would mean that Charlton are the target of this groups interest. As nla has said already there has been quite a bit of interest but it would seem Charlton are not a good investment right now.

Going to he an interesting few months. Initial thought is they will either be buying the club outright, or investing in another club having looked at us and not fully liked what they saw.

I don't think PV would be there unless CAFC are the target. Remember those porn guys at Wham had their eye on us too. Zabeel fell out for financial reasons nothing to do with cafc. By football standards, we have to be a better prospect that most clubs I can think of outside the prem.
I am not jumping the gun just yet, for all we know it could be a role for Peter Varney that has nothing to do with any Charlton links whatsoever. Peter Varney left us earlier on in the season and this may be a role Peter has taken of his own interests.
This is like saying Steve Kavanagh taking his role with Southend but because had worked for Charlton which means we could be having links up with Southend.
We might do well to remember PV is a very well respected and knowledgable football administrator in his own right. Getting him on board if you are interested in buying a football club would seem like a good idea. Like I previously said it would take a huge leap of faith to assume that Charlton are a target any more than any other club.

Not that I don't love a good take over thread as much as the next Charlton supporter; or think, Charlton couldn't make the premiership with a little bit of investment, a category 1 youth Team set up, would be useful as well and would be very happy with Peter Varney's involvement in the club again.
A bit more legs on the story would help me drum up a bit more enthusiasm.
