No-one should be angry at Kasey- they should be angry at the big clubs for hoovering up lots of young players they don't really need. Over 60 in Man City's first-team squad.

Someone bump this in 2-3 years time when he can't get a look in because Chelsea have signed a foreign midfielder for 25m and he's going on loan to Orient.
Where's Sean Mcginty these days? League one? league two?

League1, would he be playing in out first team by now if he stayed ?... probably not.
So Chris, get Gomes involved soon or he will have his head turned by a mate suddenly on big bucks. The carrott of 1st team involvement may well keep him until old enough to sign pro contract. CAFCfan makes a very good point, but is it a FIFa or FA r
Appreciate that everyone is upset/angry to lose someone with talent. My son knows Kasey and we were shocked to find out today that he has had to close his twitter account after receiving hate mail including death threats. There is more to him moving than has come to light, hopefully in the future it will, but death threats? Can this be justified?
Death threats to a kid? For signing for someone else? Can't say I'm happy he's left us for Chelsea if he's a prospect like some say he is but that is just sickening.
There really are some cowardly shitbags out there.
Yes the owners and admin of Twitter, surely a death threat is serious enough to be dealt with by someone, why does this shit always go unchecked on Twitter & Facebook?

Actually there is quite a lot of case law on twitter. If you threaten someone on twitter tabs its reported, the consequences are the same as if you'd said it on the street. People have gone to prison for things they said on twitter. Maybe the cases need more publicity as a deterrent to keyboard warriors
Not just the talent, its the character. The sort of character that jumps ship for money when the opportunities to make the breakthrough are more so in the club he leaves behind, might not be the type who makes it.
Norwich have a magnificent set up. My son is with their football development centre in University of Hertfordshire - the standard there is very impressive. They have a structure where these centres over wide areas (outside of East Anglia) feed into their academy. We left Spurs because the coaching they offered was much better.

Or maybe he has both the talent and the drive needed to make it at a big club. Defoe did it.
Remember is a player signs for Charlton he is bettering his career.
I think the case for the best talent to stay at Charlton will be made over the years if the club are able to pull through top players into the first team squad like we used to in the 90s. Somehow that slowed when we became a mid-table Premier league club - either we weren't getting the best youth players, not developing them or the demands of avoiding relegation meant that signing players was preferred to taking a risk on youth? These days we have a few in the squad who came through the academy albeit some left the club for a bit and I would have thought that this is an incentive for the 15-17 year olds to stay with us?
My cousin is on the books of WBA, from the looks of it they are bringing him along nicely, he has been out on loan in Iceland and got good reviews. He is a centre half/ defensive midfield and was in the 1st team squad for Southampton last week. Hopefully he can break through next year or get some experience in the championship.
On the flip-side of this, I was talking to a mate the other day who is involved in coaching kids and he was telling me about one youngster called aron Barnes who has recently joined us. He was at Arsenal and they had high hopes for him and tried to keep him. He was apparently swayed by Charlton for education reasons, rather than football. By all accounts, he's a very level-headed young man (16 I think) a very talented footballer with his feet firmly on the ground.
Wondered if anyone on here that follows the U18's could shed some light on this?..................

I no someone who plays for Arsenal U18s, he told me about Barnes signing for us but assumed he was released. It was a few months ago now, predominately a RB who has played LB and RM aswell.
Thing is you just know that he's no where near getting to the first 11 because Chelsea will always go out and spend millions when they need to. I hate what football is becoming in this country.

If a player leaves Charlton he's greedy. ; - )
