Sacking Chris Powell in the current situation would be likely to lead to a significant reduction in season ticket sales, I should think.
I do not want CP to go but I am not sure you are right. If CP were to go but results and performances improved then I think ST sales would improve over the current estimate. If CP were to stay and performances do not improve then we are just as likely to see ST tickets decline. Performance on the pitch will be the ultimate determinator of St sales.
Frustrating as we had the chances to pull level. Haynes from 6 yards basically thighed it straight at their keeper, and Pritchard really should have tested them when in space at the edge of the area but dragged wide. Apart from the goal I remember Hamer only making a save at the end. A little worrying regarding our Nigel amigos down the road, Palace should win comfortably if they meet in the playoffs.
Not a great day all around, bit of a mare getting there and back, highlight was £2 a pint in the pub opposite the station.
i'm happy with progress as well. a few questions I've asked myself whilst reading through this thread. He has his faults but what manager doesn't? Maybe people want a world class manager like Fergie or the special one? If they sack Powell who's going to come in with no investment and a skint boardroom? Did people think we were going to come into this league and piss it like league 1?
I have no doubt we will survive unless we sack Powell. By all means the board could always re-evaluate things in close season but sacking him now because of a few results will be catastrophic to morale and stability. If we survive and Powell is sacked in the summer then it is job done from his perspective and we will forever be in his debt.

Who gives a f!!k what the football's like as it wasn't Barcelona-Esq before he turned up was it?
weve got 1 point from our last 4 games have shown hollands bwp and green that there surplus to requirements but still managed to not unload them off the wage bill and brought no one in except ricardo fuller who's hardly ever completely fit
Which is major progress from before "this mob" came in and pretty much every player in the squad were inadequate for our requirements.
If you're only going to base our progress on the last 4 games (conveniently the time period since we last won), then it just sounds to me like you're trying to build a case to have a moan rather than look at the bigger picture.
Agreed with Ticket. Some have extremely short memories. I couldn't bear to bring myself on here last night because I knew how some of the reactionary lot would have responded to the result.
Why? Again, just sounds like you're picking on our weaknesses and trying to base that as a complete evaluation of our club and this current board.
I'll base it on what they've done since they joined 18 months ago, which is a much fairer way of looking at it rather than just 'home form this season' or 'the last four games'. And on that basis of the last 18 months, they've given me a much better time as a Charlton fan than I'd had for the previous 5 years!
Fans like you won't be happy until everything is perfect, its OK, I get it.
we had obviously made progress by winning the league and love that our players give it all,but where will we be this time next year without at least 3 signings
Fuller had that moment first half where he went down, did not get free kick played injured and got a yellow for his trouble. He was still our biggest threat though as that incident certainly seemed to p him off. Haynes I thought should have come on for Kermogant with Wilson making way for Wagstaff.

be interesting if the owners did walk away dont think there are too many people out there who would be willing to cover our yearly losses. fans are just going to have to be patient dont actually think we are playing badly. just got to cut out the mistakes and be more clinical in front of goal, but do hope our home form improves as it may be key to staying up.
Didn't Slater say the other day at the VIP event that a mid table finish was the expectation for this season?
Getting bored with 'if we don't win on Saturday, TJ is going to sack Powell, then slaughter some babies and invade Poland' type comments. If we are going to criticise the board, can we stick to what they've actually done and not what they might hypothetically do, based on something said by someone I know, who knows someone who delivers milk to the training ground...
When we lose its easy to think the team needs to be rotated/changed but what we have in reserve isn't any better then what we start games with, no matter what formation/tactics you play with.
We need to buy players better then what we already have in the summer, as we still have essentially the same team that won League 1 last season. An excellent L1 team will make for a mediocre championship team if you dont make any improvements to it.
Our home games this season (aside from 1 or 2) have been awful, relegation form infact. Its been the wins weve picked up away that has kept our heads above water.
We take leads in home games but then defend deeper and deeper as the clock winds down then inevitably concede silly late goals. We need to get better at closing games out. We could be 9+ points better off if we already were...
All this will we go down or won't we is a waste of breath. To my mind there are two facts at the moment. 1) We do have enough quality in the squad to survive, but only if we do the right things. 2) I don't think our owners can afford to let us go back down, therefore whether they act well or badly, I believe they will take action soon. The fact that Chris Powell is a really lovely bloke won't come into it. We must accept that he is a Playing Legend, but does not have perhaps the right people around him. A rookie manager needs an old head beside him, at this particular moment perhaps Paul Hart would fit the bill well. This Saturday could be crunch time, particularly if we lose at Leicester. One thing is certain, the team need our support against Forest, a team with a new, experienced, and perhaps aggressive manager. When the going gets tough etc, COYR !
Paul Hart has a losing record at every club he has managed and hasn't lasted more than 12 months in charge at any of his last six clubs (albeit some were caretaker jobs in the first place). His record is much, much worse than Chris Powell's. That's not to denigrate him, but the idea smells of change for change's sake to me.
People saying get rid of Powell is ridiculous. I think someone did a post last season on the amount of players Soton and Norwich purchased when they went up on back to back. Think Norwich had 9 new first team players to that team that won league 1. We have spent no money in any way, the fact that we have played well and beaten some decent teams is amazing.
We must stay up and get behind the team and the manager for the last 14 games.
Also drop Hamer he is shit. Seriously get a grip people, he has saved more points than lost this season.
Its not about keeping the faith the realistic situation is that another manager would probably do no better. A lot of people are criticising CP for his tactics but that is governed by the players we have to some extent although I add the caveat that the timing and thinking behind his use of substitutes sometimes beggars belief. The truth is the squad lacks quality in depth and that is because there was virtually no investment after promotion hence we are now getting found out. I don't expect anything at Leicester and Notts Forest will be a handfull on Saturday. If we manage to survive that will be an achievement but I am begining to get this ominous feeling that the slide is coming at the wrong time I hope I am wrong.
Personally the thought of going back to League 1 fills me with dread.
Guarantee all you moaning now won't be moaning at the end of the season when we stay up and I bet you will be congratulating the team board and CP at th same time
Thanks Airman. I'm not sure whether you are suggesting that we don't need to make a change, or just that Paul is not the right person. I will only say at this stage that if you keep doing what you have been doing, you will keep getting what you have been getting, which does not feel like a good idea at the moment.

I think it's irrelevant. Chris is the best man for the job and will keep us up, albeit the squad is not good enough.
First of all .. why were we disguised as Millwall? .. red does nor clash with amber & black.
We were up against an expensively assembled side and performed reasonably well. Better finishing would have got us a point @ least. I have waited all year to see Fuller & Kermorgant have a few games together. Today it did not work, Chester & Hobbs are amongst the best defenders in this division, Fuller still does not look fit. We were outclassed in midfield but everyone worked hard. Defeat was no disgrace. And so on to Leicester where I am hoping to 'see red' .. shirts not cards
Can't comment on the match as was not there and have not seen any highlights even either.
Who played in front of Evina on the left given that Waggy was dropped (what has that bloke done to upset SCP?) and Jacko was apparently never playing on the left again?
I assume the Hull groundsman also hasn't done his job properly as Hamer apparently let in an iffy goal is that right? :-)
More seriously the cushion could now be only 5 points if games in hand are won or drawn!

Just like i did when we got sent to palarse and upton park and we battled to get us back to the valley
If so, at what point would the board have retracted this and decided to put no money in.

Steve Bruce complained about the condition of the pitch.
