The culture of blame on here is pathetic. Everything's always got to be the fault of one single specific person and they should always be made to pay for it. Hamer made a mistake but he's still a very good keeper. Possibly the best in the league. All this 'not good enough' guff is shameful. Players make mistakes, particularly goalkeepers, and it happens all over the pitch, it's just more noticeable when it happens to the keeper. Every time we lose it's 'drop Hamer', 'sack Powell', 'Jackson should never play for Charlton again'. Constantly blaming one individual for losing a team game a league up from where we were last year. The way some of you act you don't deserve to see the team win

Couldn't agree more. 'Drop Hamer' is as preposterous as it gets. We were playing second in the league away from home-hardly a disgrace.
    .

  • can't be bothered to comment on a game I wasn't at - but I'm going to Leicester on tuesday and so will comment afterwards having actually seen the game myself and not through Paul Merson's eyes.

However, I'm not expecting too much at Leicester and realistically March is the critical month, We have Millwall, Burnley & Bolton at home & Peterboro & Huddersfield away - all teams around us and not going to be in the top 6 come May. If we can't get the 10-12 points needed to stay up come April fools day then we really are in the poo.
  • Hamer is always making suicidal mistakes. huddersfield(league) penalty was his fault. he let he ball go in against wednesday despite it going past his face at a slow pace. went dancing on ice against palace and crucial drop today that turned out once again to lose us the game. I think Hamer is a good keeper but like every other player he's not undroppable. if he was dropped on saturday i would't be shocked or objective. might do him some good.
  • Calm down everyone , we lost , its gone , so what , staying angry or over reacting won't change a thing , we need to pull together as we did before and as Kap10 alluded too.

If we'd just been spanked 5-0 by a team bottom of the division then i'd be fuming , we are what we are , inconsistent , what do you expect , we haven't got a Super Clive , Darren Bent , or a BWP this season who will fire the goals on and get us out of a hole , and earn us points when we really shouldn't get any.

I'm going to Leicester and i will get behind the team , i expect the players to put in a shift , prepare to be surprised , stop your moaning and have a good evening.

    You're certainly not being objective.
  • We need a plan b, maybe train the players to learn to go 433 when we attack or sign a decent loanee.

  • Look on the bright side, at least we're not supporting Arsenal ;)
  • lets not panic.we are not in the bottom 3 and never will be.at the begin of the season we were all happy just to stay up and that what will happen.we can beat anyone in this league on our day.stick with powell and kick on next season.the best is still to come the turning point will be millwall at home we have very winable games coming up after forest.we just need a bit of confidence in front of goal and hamer to keep a clean sheet he not a bad keeper.remember we are charlton athletic we have are ups and downs

  • I'm not panicking I think we are a mid/lower half side and will stay up

1-1 would have been a good result against palace

0-0 would have been a good result today

1-1 at home to the massives would have been ok

    Spot the common problem

Normally always agree with Garry manilow but its a problem and far from his only cock up, forest away Huddersfield home etc

The guy always has and probably always will have a problem commanding his area, time for Powell to get tough and make the change
  • We have downs so the highs mean so much more when they come. If we was winning all the time it would be boring. When we get that win in the next couple of games it will mean so much more then just 3 points. (And as i am going to the next 4 i hope its one of them)

And that is why I support Charlton not Arsenal or Man U or Chelsea

Let's get some perspective here peeps. Hamer has kept us in a few of our games this season too. Yep he has made a few errors but we have also seen sitters missed and defenders making clangers. If we chopped and changed the team we would playing the kids! Keep calm and carry on I say. If I remember rightly some folk were a bit underwhelmed when Button started against Huddersfield in the FA Cup.

    My thoughts exactly
  • The way I see it, we were away at one of the best sides in the league. I don't think we were particularly poor first half, even though we were well outplayed. Second half I think we matched them and once BWP came on we looked the more likely to score. The best we were likely to achieve was to limit the number of chances they got and to create a few ourselves. We did that, and with a bit of luck we might have nicked a point.
Sometimes I come away from an away defeat feeling down, but today I have no complaints. Good football, good level of effort, just beaten by a good team.

Having thought this through over the last few days and looking at our fixtures, I think we're going down. 50 points minimum seems miles off. Expecting a pasting at Leicester

Utter rubbish . About the going down and getting a pasting.
  • Blimey , the doom and gloom merchants have crawled out from behind theirs stones today .
  • we are on the march with powelly army
we are not going to wembly
but we dont give a fuck the reds are staying up
charlton fc are the greatest football team
  • Don't utter rubbish me. Are you definitely right then?

Before our last run of four games, we picked up nine points in three games. Have any sort of run like that again and we will be absolutely fine.

In fact, a couple of back to back wins in the last third of the season will do. I repeat, we will be absolutely fine. :-)
  • Hamer makes terrible error.
    Powell out.

We will still have another 7 games to play come April 1st. I'll settle for 6 or 7 points by then, and hope for more.

I daren't go on there. I'd be frightened of what I'd see. :-)
  • No surprise in that result , hard work and effort can only get you so far
Hamer had a mare going for that flap and being dropped may be the kick up the arse he needs but I have no idea how good button is ....
SCP is not (yet) perfect but at the end of the day you can't make a silk purse etc
We're a team capable of not winning for a long time and also of not losing for a long time ,which imo will see us stay up but it'll be close

    0% top 6 ...... 18% 7th-12th..... 67% 13th-21st .... 15% Relegation to hell
