  • Never going to have a bubble trip for a London game
  • Bubble Trip would be carnage in London as nolly says. Tickets for collection only at the Watford Gap? lol
  • Take no notice of this 1000 allocation. It's just Dorrans spouting off, when at the end of the day someone a lot more higher than him will decide what the allocation will be.
  • Yes, Hudds are playing Hull soon & the police have said that all Hull fans must get on coaches at Hull & return there by the same method. Apparently some Hull fans live in Hudds & would have to go to the match via Hull.

And Huddersfield have only given Hull, who are planning a complete boycott, 1,000 tickets.

(Just to add one point regarding 'communication' - we were told that there had been a PA announcement regarding the 'kettling': the PA was barely audible from where I was sitting, but I wonder if anyone did hear the alleged annoucement? I did ask Jason Evans why there were no megaphone announcements in Park Rd as we left the ground, but was told that this is apparently 'not police policy'.)

All I heard was an announcement along the lines of "Charlton fans, follow the instructions you receive outside the stadium".

Better tell that to the ob sitting on a horse at Delafield road telling people which way to go for trains at every home game.

Apparently the Huddersfield wanted the game moved but as it is scheduled on Sky they we were told that the league could impose a points deduction if the the game did not take place as scheduled.

Anyway back to the thread, thanks for the imfomation from those at the meeting.

  • I know Jason Evans and Richard Wood very well. I know it's still not known how long Wood is staying at Croydon, but I'd predict that if he's still there next season, there will be an improvement when we go to selhurst.
  • That Huddersfeld v Hull game is a joke.

Was originally supposed to be 12.30 but Sky chose it for the live game so it's now at 5.20. Because it's a high risk game, police and the clubs cut the Hull allocation from 4k to 1500 and you can only get a ticket by getting on a coach from Hull
  • What happened between Hull and Hudders earlier this season? I thought there'd only be trouble if either were playing Leeds.

  • The Blackburn/Burnley matches are like this - only coaches from the relevant towns for away fans - which as said is a bit of a pain if you're a Burnley fan living in Blackburn or vice versa.

No idea but apparently police wanted it at 12.30. Sky refused as they'd already been turned down in their attempts to have Hudds v Leeds and Hudds v Cardiff at 5.20 and threatened Huddersfield with a points deduction as they're legally obliged to have one home game live.

So left with no choice but to have it at 5.20, police decided they'd cut the Hull allocation.

Not sure about this season but was a big 'off' with them two about 6/7 years ago. Lot of big jail sentences handed out.
  • Continuing from earlier, and endorsing Henry's comments-
We were told that there was 'intelligence' regarding potential problems, and the impression given was that the barricade was pre-decided, notwithstanding actual circumstances during and after the game.

Henry did ask 2 or 3 times 'when was the decision taken to 'kettle' fans?' but no clear answer was given other than 'during the game'.
From the comments of the residents, this was not the first time that the police had given no thought to 'cause and effect'. There were 'threats' from the police concerning the imposition of Traffic Orders at future games, but the 'chicken-egg' debate continued and was not answered, as to 'where do we park if our road is restricted on match-day'. Apparently if Whitehorse Lane has controlled parking applied, the cars are parked in- Sangley Rd.....but there is no alternative option for Sangley residents, and no plausible justification was offered as to why a small residential road was considered suitable for this 'operation' - only 'because it's there'

As Henry has implied, the police, who seemed totally un-prepared for the size of the gathering, the strength of feeling and the style and tone of the questions, appear to have taken what they thought would be an 'easy option', to field complaints from residents and away-fans in one combined hearing. It turned out to be an almost complete 'horlicks', with neither of the aggrieved parties receiving the full focus of considered response, and the 'party line' being played-out almost ad-nauseum by the hosts.

Admin-wise it was also a shambles. We were given to believe that it was 'by invitation only'. Henry requested a list of expected attendees, but none was available- there were just clip-boards around for anyone who was bothered to write names/addresses. The security guy in reception just asked 'are you here for the meeting' and pointed me towards the lounge!
  • Similar thread on www.cpfc.org about the meeting under general palace talk.

If the police tell the chairmen only give 1,000 tickets then our owners will bend over and take it up the Harris. 1k will be all you get. No palace fan wants to see you with only 1k.

I warned everyone on here about the shocking police tactics.

This officer dorans who is our "intelligence" officer. He is detested by most fans. Apparently he used to work at the valley before given the boot? Does anyone know the full story?

I'm still waiting for reply on AFKA's post that Dorans is banned from the Valley, how? and by whom?
  • As Maestro says, this is what ive heard too. Seems the OB want some overtime and games against our neighbours are a perfect excuse.
The truth is if both sets of fans were let out at the same time, i honestly believe there might be the odd skirmish but nothing too serious.
  • Might be time for a few FOI requests, Henry, have a chat with Darryl as he's the man who knows how to word a FOI request to get the right info.
  • Did anyone from the Supporters federation attend Henry?
    http://www.fsf.org.uk/campaigns/view/watching-football-is-not-a-crime
Thanks for attending, although it does seem shambolic in trying to find on what lesssons could be learnt for next time?
except the threat of cutting our ticket allowance?

    quick update on this.

I emailed CS Wood tonight just outlining some the points from above, enclosing the letters/emails of complaint including that from the former Police match supervisor at Selhurst and asking for another meeting.

Ten minutes later he rang me and we talked over how the meeting had gone and where to go now.

The officer in charge, CS Roberts, is away on leave but will be getting back to me when he returns.

Can't complain about the response times from our police.

I doubt we will get a resolution that will make everyone happy but at least we are talking.

  • This is great work. It was bad at the time.

But what does "everyone happy" look like ?

Aside from already knowing the police got it wrong what outcome is expected or hoped for from this process.

I'm not being obtuse, just asking.
  • I think what we need is communication, generally, before a match, during and after, that would solve an awful lot of the problems, hopefully this can be the start of that. particularly with reference to these local matches which seem to be spiralling.
  • What we've got here is ... failure to communicate

When we played them in 2009 there was a bit of an issue with the Palace fans and stewards. He had a q+a with the Palace fans in the weeks that followed, and that is what he told them. Couple of quotes from people there:

""He also mentioned that he was officially banned from the Valley as due to his questioning of the stewards behaviour and requests for information he was told he would not be admitted."

    ----------

"I was at the meeting with Mike Dorans in the Legion Club. Fair play to him for showing up, however I have to say I wasn't overly impressed with some of his answers.
I was one of the fans ejected from the Valley and also followed it up through numerous channels finally ending up with correspondence to the Ombudsman where all the complaints now lie.
Mr Dorans was at pains to point out that by pushing for some sort of justice for us he was at risk of disciplinary action being taken against him by his seniors.......strange that as he was only 'doing hid job' as it were.
Similarly it seems he kicked up a stink at the debrief following the game which led to him no longer being welcome at the Valley."
  • The meeting has been well summed up by Henry and Chilham, so thanks to them.

The swift response of CS Wood to Henry is promising, and Jason Evans seemed very open to further debate. One of the frustrating things for me in the meeting was that the blanket response to any alternative suggestions was "we had intelligence which led us to believe that there would have been serious public disorder if we had managed it differently". This seemed to centre on the "Penge 200". I would be interested to get Jason Evans's view on how realistic this was.
  • Is Dorans the one who goes to away games to watch over our fans, who's quite small and got grey hair?
  • No that's not him.
  • No that's not him.

Well whoever he is, I don't like him one bit

    Just out of interest, why?
  • Is he the one who told you off for throwing bottles at female bar staff Nathan?
