I particularly liked "He also said that CAFC fans had been allowed to move to Norwood junction in a "slow, controlled way". "
If coppers running backwards shitting themselves and lashing out at people with their hands up is "slow and controlled" then I'd hate to see it if they ever lost control. Jokers.
Dorans I'm lead to believe is banned from the Valley and equally hated by Crystal Palace fans. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
Seems like they were not prepared tonight for an articulate Charlton fan who has knowledge of safety advisory groups and witnessed everything to be a pain in the arse and take them to task.
I threw my ticket away the other day but wondering if they breached any t&c in the combined negligence?! And what are the leagues views on this rubbish? Perhaps they should take 10 points off?! I'm only half joking coz we are pussycats compared to Leeds so I Will be interested to see what happens on Saturday... Thanks Henry and others...at the end of the day we have to be vigilant on this else the whole thing goes to a place i thought had been left behind 30 years back.

I'm going to think about how, if at all, we should take this forward.
There will be an element of "you've had your meeting" from the Croydon MPS I'm sure but I'm inclined to write again with specific CAFC related questions and responses to the misinformation Martin and Dorens gave out on the night.
I did feel for DS Wood as he'd joined two days after the game and he had a tough job chairing the meeting. Then again I'm sure that as a police officer he's had tougher and more dangerous situations.
I feel that I didn't get the answers to the questions people wanted. I raised the issues but didn't get and couldn't force the answers. Frustrating for me but sorry to anyone who hoped for more.
I do think there is a big opportunity to build a relationship with our PIO Jason Evans who seemed a lot more open to ideas than his palace counterpart. OK, it was a palace operation and IMHO a palace cock up so Dorens was more likely to be on the back foot but the difference was noticeable.
I know Jason well, he gets a lot of stick from the "high risk" fans, but he has always come across as reasonable and more than fair in some pretty abusive and volatile situations, some just cant get it round their heads that he is doing his job, which he wouldnt have to if they werent acting up.
Thanks for taking the trouble to go & report Henry. No surprises there & as I said elsewhere, they may well limit our next game there to S/T holders only.
Actually, there is one surprise for me. Didn't realise we had 200 high risk supporters.
More than that, probably half of that again who are currently on bans who would have been there or in the vicinity otherwise.
I didn't know there was such a thing as police cadets and I can't get my head around your son being allowed to join by his dad
; - )
LOL...positively encouraged him, but it looks he has chosen the military route once he finishes college in Bromley. Theres a lot about me that would surprise you HI, then again I suspect you know that already :-)

Only that Celtic tattoo on your 'arris surprised me : - )

Well done on last night, and reading your notes shows what more of a shambles occurred, re some of the actions by the police operation. Be interesting if you can get a meeting with Roberts, and get his take on it.
I would say a lot of talking will be happening with Wood wanting some answers.

Well done HI. Glad to see someone taking the police to task on this matter.
I attended last night on behalf of 5-year VIPs, and was 'very disappointed' with the way the police conducted the meeting, with their attitude towards all attendees, and with their attitude and responses to the majority of the points raised. The officer (Woods) 'chairing' the gathering displayed a patronising attitude towards us, and the officer (Harvey) responding to the points made was an unfortunate 'choice' as spokesman, and did not seem at all confident in addressing the meeting, perhaps understandable given the feeble 'justifications' on offer. I gained the impression that the police were adopting the 'politicians'' style towards answering criticisms - 'if you state your own point often enough, no matter how wrong it is, it will be accepted as being right'. The police were the 'common enemy' last night, and their reasoning and responses did them no favours. To state that the lack of personal injuries suffered during the operation made it 'successful' in their eyes, despite the resultant consequences and damage, gave me a very poor impression of their sense of responsibilty (they don't have one!) and any 'duty of care' towards the community. I will post more comments later.... (Just to add one point regarding 'communication' - we were told that there had been a PA announcement regarding the 'kettling': the PA was barely audible from where I was sitting, but I wonder if anyone did hear the alleged annoucement? I did ask Jason Evans why there were no megaphone announcements in Park Rd as we left the ground, but was told that this is apparently 'not police policy'.)
Will only giving us 1000 tickets next season not just cause more trouble as people without tickets will just turn up on the day and try getting in
I really don't think only giving us 1,000 tickets is a realistic prospect.
Man U vs Leeds, Man U vs Liverpool, the Old Firm, Cardiff vs Swansea, Millwall vs West Ham, Saints vs Pompey, Arsenal vs Spurs, Newcastle vs Sunderland - none of those fixtures have ever restricted the attendance of away fans (certainly not down to 1,000 anyway). Unless Palace vs Charlton is now considered to be a more volatile fixture than Rangers vs Celtic I really don't see how they could justify that.
Personally, I'm more concerned that the police overkill last time will be just a taster of what we get next time round. They might even turn it into a bubble trip, i.e we all have to get on a coach at Charlton, driven to the away turnstiles and driven back to Charlton after.

Didn't Newcastle v Sunderland become a 'no away fans' fixture a few years back?
Yes, Hudds are playing Hull soon & the police have said that all Hull fans must get on coaches at Hull & return there by the same method. Apparently some Hull fans live in Hudds & would have to go to the match via Hull.
Will get more than 1k tickets and there won't be no bubble trip etc. Restricting tickets really wouldn't do much, people would still go out for a drink in the surrounding areas regardless of a ticket like they would for the games mentioned above.
