Evina has not travelled with Charlton for their training camp in Spain and he is training on his own as he looks to fix himself with a new club.
The former Arsenal youngster's representative, Saif Rubie, admits the player has been left in 'no man's land' after Charlton withdrew their contract offer.
"Charlton did not want to compromise on a new deal and now my player is left in no man's land," Rubie told Sky Sports.
"We are now looking for another club for Cedric and he is training on his own to maintain his fitness so that he is ready to go straight into a new club."
Similar to Haynes where we withdrew a contract offer.
Chris "Mr Nice guy" Powell playing hard ball.
A shame but it was a risk for both parties sticking out for what they wanted.
Hope this doesn't descend into a "typical greedy footballer, who does he think he is blah, blah, blah" thread where we slag off a player without knowing what the contract offer was.
im sure it would have been down to powell, cant be good for the team knowing one of your friends/team mates is basically not willing to be apart of the family anymore because he just isnt getting enough money on top of his already decent salary.

Well so much for my post two days ago! Think it's a bit much to take the deal off the table and would be happier with Evina than without but provided it is Powell's call, I will go with it.
sign of the times hopefully ,where football in general is concerned, that clubs are offering more realistic wages rather than the joke money that flies about that just puts clubs further in debt hopefully all clubs , well as many as possible, will drive the wages down so that the debts lessen to some extent not good for the players but a reality check never did anyone any harm

How do you know it was more money.
I heard that he was, in fact, offered less.
lol read it again....... i said "enough money" that means im implying whatever offer he was given it was not enough be it more or LESS than his current contract. Either way im sure hes still on a nice wedge

No you said "enough money on top of his already decent salary."
Richard Cawley@RichCawleySLP5m #cafc's contract offer to Cedric Evina has been withdrawn. Sounded like it was close to bring agreed but then club has issue with terms.

saying "on top of " means extra or more not less
I'm sure we would have matched his existing salary to protect our right to a transfer fee.
I thought Ceddy's complaint was that he wanted a two year deal,if he goes let's wish him well.

Do we get a development fee even if there is no offer on the table? I wouldn't have thought so. You might, however, withdraw the offer to move the budget.

If we offered equal or greater terms then maybe? But I think he'd have to have been with us a bit longer.
This is a lot of kerfuffle for someone who is unlikely to ever be a first choice player in our starting eleven. Good youngster yes, but shouldn't really be the biggest story of our Summer (as it has been so far).

Agreed, Rhoys is far superior. Just have to hope he stays fit all season..
No problem with this. We can't wait forever for a player and I would assume gave a deadline to them. got close does not mean done deal. Good luck to Evina, decent player and would have liked to see him re-sign but not to be. His wages being re-assigned to buy in Lambert from southampton is a good thing anyway ;-)

(though "in addition" means the same as "on top of")
But originally I'm fairly sure it was less.
For a new signing maybe? Obika.
