I read it as that his Dubai based agent was the 'they' but I don't know. However I praise and like the club for being as open as they are currently being about this.
Is the Ceddy camp seeing who blinks first? Didn't Tone do the same with Villa a year ago? Is there much difference? The agents/money men don't seem to do players any good as sportsmen, whatever good they do for them financially.
A lot of fuss over a backup left back. Obvious lack of money at the club so we are doing the right thing in not bowing to demands for a player who may not even get a game this season if Wiggins stays fit

We need someone like him in the squad and the back up will play at some point given the number of games. As I pointed out before, we do not have any cover on the left and Ceddy would be a great asset. Hope he signs.

Wiggins went off against Bristol City and was nowhere to be seen against Welling.
I reckon he isn't fit now.
I don't believe in giving in to ransom notes but Evina is a good squad man and did a decent job in the absence of Wiggins last season. We could do worse....

That if is a pretty big one though. It's not like he played 100% this season. Additionally, Evina is a good player - and one that could hold down the LB position in most teams in this league; we're just incredibly lucky in that we have Wiggins.
He's also young, so there's possibly even more potential there. I must say I don't like the idea of losing him.

Would be better than Kerkar was if asked to play left side of midfield where we have no cover.
@ShootersHillGuru has made another good point there - we've no cover whatsoever for LM, and that was one of our biggest issues for the whole of the season - until the introduction of Callum. Ceddy essentially gives us cover down the whole of the left - which in some ways could be a money saver; even if it's not an ideal situation.
I just don't like the idea of the squad balance being upset with Solly playing at LB and Wilson at RB again; as improved as Wilson was during the past season, he isn't very dominant as a RB.
Very unprofessional, the fact he was booked to go and didn't turn up
Yeah, that's a bit disgusting to be fair - and I could lose some respect for him if that's the case. I wonder if it was a case of his agent telling him not to go though, lets face it - his agent isn't going to want his client going to Spain when he's just put out a press release stating that his client is training alone and without a club...!
If Evina was a serious option at LM wouldn't CP have tried him there by now? He played there in the cup v Carlisle and looked too similar to Wiggins, not sure it really suits his game.

It took CP an astounding amount of time just to let him play at LB though; even bringing in loans first. (Although I'm sure CP had his reasons)
As far LM goes, he even tried Waggy there for a while - I can't see any reason not to try a natural left footed player. We're only talking about cover after all.
Not sure what you mean about being too similar to Wiggins though? Perhaps CP does have his reasons though..
I suspect that his agent didn't want his player going on an all expenses paid trip abroad where he could be tempted to sign a contract.
As for the offer, Richard Murray made it clear that the club were going to ask players to go out and see what they could get offered elsewhere then come back to discuss it.
Maybe Ceddy was made an offer, that the club thought was good, and now they've withdrawn it and said that once Ceddy has spoken to other clubs he should come back and see what he was offered elsewhere.
I think the days of being bullied by agents are over, certainly at our level, and I am optimistic that in the end Ceddy will come 'round and see that what we are offering him is competitive. If that happens he might sign and neither party will feel like they have been railroaded into anything.
Jimenez and Slater probably have a negotiations team.
Slater has nothing to do with the football side or the day to day running of the club in general. PT Prothero is paid to do the negotiating, but it appears in practice TJ does it himself.
Good to see Powell making very clear in public he wants Evina to stay although the intended audience could be us, the player or the board. Or all three!
People trying desperately to paint the club as being dishonest and broke. Seriously guys, don't you have lives?
It clearly states "we" the club offered Evina a contract to the terms he wanted "they" his agents changed what they wanted again. Evina is well within his rights to turn down ANY contract but it was disappointing for Powell as it should've been sorted out a while ago but for whatever reason (club/agent) it didn't happen and this offer was what the agents wanted originally. Now they've moved the goalposts and the club won't play ball.
Christ, I can't believe I've gotta teach some of you to read.

lost me a bit KA, where does it clearly state " we offered Evina a contract to the terms he wanted"
All I can see is - cut and pasted from OS statement : “We got very close last week and right at the last minute they changed it again. Ceddy is well within his rights to turn it down and his Dubai-based agent has advised him not to sign.” and to me there is a lot of careful wording and ambiguity in that official statement

Well said.
Nothing overly cryptic about what Powell stated at all, but the usual suspects just love to try and find ways to bring up weird conspiracy chat as usual.

Or you could just be wrong ?
Or you could just be reading way too much into what was actually said?

Isn't that the whole point though. I'm not sure what exactly was said and I'm not alone.
"“We got very close last week and right at the last minute they changed it again. Ceddy is well within his rights to turn it down and his Dubai-based agent has advised him not to sign.”
'They' is quite obviously referring to Cedric Evina and his agent. As in 'they changed what they were asking for'.
Powell could have meant the owner or owners, but then he would have likely said "the owner" or "we".

Not rocket science.
They changed it but then refused to sign.
Doesn't make sense does it.
SHG may have a different view but he isn't an idiot.
