I'm a bit surprised Powell is ostensibly being so kind towards Ceddy; his no-show at the airport is downright selfish and shabby.

But then Powell has the full picture, unlike us. I do know there are two sides to this story.

Out of interest because of his age isnt he still being paid by the club? Maybe not full wages but some kind of basic wage?

There has been too much conjecture here on this. Who 'they' are is ambiguous at best and why Ceddy has been castigated for not turning up for the trip to Spain I'm confused with because he isn't contracted to us so therefore isn't exactly obligated to. He's still been training with us and played yesterday at Maidstone. It says a lot to me that CP says that he fits in well with the group and wants him to stay. Do you think CP would be saying this if Ceddy has been messing him around? I don't. We will probably never know what has really been going on but to blame everything on Ceddy or his agent could be well wide of the mark.

My thoughts exactly. Powell seems ruthless enough when he needs to be. Can't see him putting up with Ceddy pissballing about. Add Airmans comment and I don't think things are quite as clear as some think.

I hope you are right, because if Ceddy told Powell he'd be at the airport and simply didn't turn up, that's worthy of a two-week fine. Oh, hang on - he can hardly be fined if he ain't under contract! With all the substitutions at Maidstone yesterday I couldn't really judge his performance - anyone else on CL able to make an assessment?

  • In my opinion, he looked disinterested. Made no attempt to overlap.

But, in his defence, it was VERY hot!

Absolutely hilarious thread. There's always been misprints and ambiguities on the OS - however in this case it is a quote. It's clear what was meant, is you want to have a ridiculous fantasy and believe that Powell was negotiating in good faith when Slater rushed in and tried to remove Ceddy's trousers before running out rippping up the contract, have at it. Clear from Powell's tone that he's not happy with the player's representation and failure to report. Suspect that Mr Powell is not one to be messed about, he's someone that puts great stock in his word. If Evina agreed to go on the tour and then didn't show then his time at the club is rightly done. Regardless of how fair or unfair he thinks the offer is. We'll have wasted money on flights and accomodation for him and perhaps another young player didn't get to travel to make a space for him.

Great post. The conspiracy theories on this thread are embarrassing. Anything perceived as a negative, seems to be open season to give the board a kicking!

CM has directly said himself that they were expecting Evina at the airport and he let them down. Because he's not under contract doesn't mean he isn't messing us about. A bit of courtesy to make CP aware that he wasnt going to come wouldn't have been too difficult.

Move on I reckon. Him and his agent are wasting our time.

I don't understand why on Earth if he had let us down and messed us about the reason why he is still training and playing games.

As nobody responded to my earlier question I did my own research and discovered I was correct, I think. The club are still paying Evina a basic wage but he does not have to comply with the regulations or discipline of the club. A bit of gratitude wouldn't go a miss though.

Personally I think he owes us nothing like we owe him nothing . If he wants to try his hand and get a few extra quid that's his (and his agent's) choice.

    It's clear to me.

Powell wants him to stay, Charlton offered him a deal, Evina would've been happy to sign but his agent changed his mind and advised him not to sign.

I've got bored reading this thread....but I'm in this camp
