I wasn't at the game, so don't feel inclined to pass judgements about the substitutions made in the ebb and flow. I assume those who have already said on the match thread, and on here, the issue is the timing of the substitutions, that those people were actually watching the game.
Gutted but we move on. Powell will be a great manager - he's not there yet. I can only base my opinion on the radio commentary but it seems we bossed the first half, Holloway showed a bit of nous with his substitutions and they mullered us second and overall they deserved the win. It hurts like hell but that's football and you have to keep it in perspective. Let the Palace have their fun and let's look forward. Powelly will be a better manager because of this.
No - just the sense from the way we conceded two goals shortly after CP made subs and we didn't that it might have been a good thing to do. As others have said, we could have been 3-0 up by half time, so the missed chances seem to have had something to do with it.
So pissed off. Don't mind playing really well and throwing it away against Wednesday but you would think the team would have learnt from that. To do it 2 weeks in a row, second time vs Palace, then I think the players have just taken the piss. Might change my mind in the morning. This might be heat of the moment talk.. But they've got bragging rights now and that's annoying.
As close to the bottom 3 as the play offs. Not crisis yet, but looking at the games coming up, it could be very soon. We have ground out results to get to where we are. But there is always one team who comes from nowhere to reach the play offs and one who drops like a stone and goes down on the last day.
I thought your time wasting antics cost you second half. You should clearly have been out of sight first half if it weren't for some decent saves from Jules and poor finishing from yourselves. Brave starting lineup from Holloway which failed miserably but the subs were absolutely brilliant and turned the game for us, not something Palace fans have said very often this season!
Happy we've finally done the double over you, I'm certain you'll all be disappointed to say the least but you're sitting comfortably in mid table which I think speaks testament to what a good job Powell has done for you this season given the lack of transfer activity he's been restricted too.
Not good enough i'm afraid. To lose e games in a row late on from winning positions shouldn't happen. This league is so tight that we would have been near the play offs with 2 wins, but defeat to birmingham next week will leave us looking over our shoulders.
Missed 3 sitters in the first half and then Dervite shot like a 'girl' in the second half. Then the whole team just sat back. Twice in two games - very depresed and loads of Palarse at work.
I said on the prediction thread yesterday that CP will be outfoxed by Holloway, and I get no satisfaction at all that I was correct. Also, CP has two other members of the coaching set up on the touchline with him and it makes you wonder about their input during a match is.
So pissed off. Second week running where missed chances cost us the game. As was said in the match thread,we really shouldve been out of sight by half time, got to be more clinical at this level. F##k palace, its not about them, they dont even care about us,its about our inability to score more than 1 goal when we are dominating.
SCP hasn't got the tactical nous at this level yet but hopefully he has learned the last 2 weeks. He doesn't respond to tactical changes by opposition unlike Curbs who was very good at that....we are at a different level not just better player's but also more savvy managers. This one hurts because we should have ben 3 up at HT.
Right then. Listen up. I've got to get this off my chest.
I have supported Charlton since 1957. I will continue, as I have done in whatever division they are in. I have been through Charlton's ups and downs. I support the banner at the top of the home page - I think it refers to the club.
I will now cut to the chase: That's now the second game we have lost after taking the lead. I think now Paul Hart should become what he was perhaps brought in to do if things didn't work out - be manager. SCP can if he wants, become his No. 2. (Almost everyone has said he is still learning - we may be running out of time). If something is not at the end of the season I think "The Red, Red, Robin" can be scrapped and we will run out to "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life".
Got to score chances. Powell has got to change games. Holloway proved his experience today by outdoing Powell in every department second half. Peacock was sat in front of me all second half and saw the same game as me. Surely he must see the problem?? He's there as an advisor is he not?
So we should have been 3-0 up by half time, we should have been 2-0 against sheff weds. When the goals don't go in and the opposition, make changes and your team game is built on hard work, then there has to be a response with substitutions.
I want and like Chris Powell as manager but he has got to learn and improve this aspect.
I think we are also paying for a lack of strengthening, imagine Ritchie, Wordsworth or Judge coming on, to keep the energy up or a striker who can reliably put the ball in the net. Our opposition this week and last week had some choices from the bench. We have been lacking a second quick goal scoring striker and that is maybe why are not putting our chances away. This has been lacking in the team for a year.
Glad we kept hold of Solly and Stephens, I just hope we get to 54 pronto. This division has small margins and the lack of strength in depth and some tactical misjudgements may drag us down. Charlton, will most likely make us sweat and suffer as per usual.

In essence we don't take our chances.
As hard as Pritchard works he especially has a nasty knack of not scoring when a chance comes at a key point of the game.
Oh.
