Atmosphere v Brighton

edited December 2012 in General Charlton
I have waited most of my life to see the scum intimidated, so I have allowed myself a wry smile that will probably last all week. The 100% support is, I believe, mostly resoponsible for this as the fan's mindset is now one of no surrender. No, we don't have to throw chairs or smoke bombs to retain this new passion, as that wasted energy can be used in other ways...namely making so much noise every single game that we intimidate teams home and away. Hopefully we will get around 20k for Brighton, but I'll hazard a guess that after the events at the toolbox it's going to sound more like 40k. COYR!

  • We'll get 20,000 easily, Brighton have sold 3,400 themselves! We'll still have some sort of buzz inside us, and not to mention our unbeaten run being extended. I'll go for 21,500.
  • really looking forward to this game i think if we can play to our strengths ( Millwall did a stirling job not allowing us to play by pressurising very quickly) this could have a lot of goals in it

Brighton fans will be loud and Vocal and will want to put to bed the derby defeat this may play into our hands
  • Special Day for me , all my mates and family are all Brighton Fans !!!!haven't heard the end of it Ever since the 4-0 thrashing, i would give a left bollock to beat this lot .

this will be my last game before I return to Australia. I'll be singing my heart out!
  • Please please please, do NOT sing the Jeremy Kyle song to them.
  • Dont think we'll capitulate this time.
  • ATMOSPHERE !
  • I'm sure the Jeremy Kyle song will be reserved for one team and one team only. That will be sung for years to come.

Hoping for a good atmosphere too, Brighton will certainly bring some noise.
  • Ok so save the Jk song for the spanners but on sat do you think we will get away with the " WE CAN C U HOLDING HANDS " song

I hope so but can see it being used every week.

You only sing when you're rimming and we forgot that you were queer are options.

Certainly hope so but, like FoD, can see it going the same way as the Addams Family chant that had a bit of relevance when playing Norwich/Ipswich but then ended up being sung at Brentford and the like.

Luckily they're both palace chants and therefore can't be sung. :-)
  • Jeremy Kyle was sung to Peterborough, so yeah horse has already bolted on that one sorry.

And friend or defoe, lets dispense with the homophobia, it's as bad as racism.
  • Can you imagine the reaction from some quarters on here if we even imply homosexuality by way of song.

Football is about turning up (on time), sitting quietly, clapping appropriately and wishing you were at the rugby.

but targeting someone for their race is clear racism, singing homophobic songs at Brighton is different. It's just a bit of fun.
  • if we can pick up 3 points then i think it will be a very gay day down at the valley.
  • .....just need to adapt to the circumstances.

Replace "Jeremy Kyle" with "Graham Norton" and you're there.

I am all for banter & giving the away fans a bit of stick. But you cannot condone homophohia. We don't want/need that shit being sung on saturday. It is embarrassing.

They also get it every week. You really can't get more unoriginal, or unfunny.
  • "Does your boyfriend know you're here"
"We can see you holding hands"
    "Sing when you're rimming"
"We forgot that you were queer"
"You take it up the aaaaaaarse, you take it up the arse"
"We know why you're standing up"

All have to be sung. They're to a club renound for being in the gay capital and are not in any way malicious. I don't know one gay person who would be offended by us singing these; man up and stop being so precious and PC.

I know plenty of gay people, and I can tell you each & every one of them would be offended.
  • I don't like homophobia at all but I'm not sure how implying that people take part in gay sex is homophobic...
If we started singing "we hate Brighton cos you're a bunch of gays" then yes that would be homophobic, but a song which would suggest that people are gay is probably not to be honest...

  • "I know plenty of gay people, and I can tell you each & every one of them would be offended."

As do I, and live with one... Know for a fact they wouldn't.
