At first I was delighted that the flare and the smoke bomb wound the soppy Smallwall c***s up and made them all start foaming at the mouth. Now I'm even more delighted that it's wound up all the lefties on here as well. Come on people, get a grip. As for what happened outside the stadium, what were we supposed to do? run away and cower behind the coaches? We stood up to them and let them know we wouldn't be taking any of their shit. Roll on February when we have Palarse, flares and smoke bombs at the ready! ;-)
Whilst agreeing with the other "Ol' Gits" on here, I think that the seat/flare/smokebomb will still put CAFC in a "little trouble". MFC have reported these things to the FL, and, I think, that CAFC will pay the price by less seats next time & a financial penalty. No more worried than usual about the spanners in SE7 next March though.

colt nothing of any note happend a flare and a smoke bomb, 1 chair (yes the chair was perhaps to far) the rest of what was being mentioned was people standing their ground and not being intimidated if that meant throwing back what was being thrown at you then so be it
Agree, problem is they weren't. Even ignoring the whether it nearly hit someone or not. The fact our club could suffer financially is enough for me to think that anyone involved in or condoning what happened as a complete bell end.
"My concern is for the ordinary family fans who want no part of your posturing yet could well be attacked by your cowardly Millwall equivalents in a misguided attempt at revenge."
Anyone for tennis? Len you'd love it.

Honestly think some are reading into Millwall's mindset for the March game way too much.
Rather than trying to anticipate their every move on the day and try and put the blame on our support, how about trying to realize that they are going to come and tear things up and cause a nuisance anyway. Not as some sort of revenge movement - but because they're f*cking morons.
Its really not that hard to get your head around is it?

Guardians at dawn young man!
I'm quite chuffed at being called a leftie!
I was about to defend you there Len, you may be many things but you sure aren't a leftie - we'd never let you in anyway.....:)
it was minimal it was a nothing i have not seen or heard it reported anywhere
This 100% from someone who was there and has spoken to friends (not scum) who support Millwall, we saw so much more trouble at Bolton in the cup a few years ago time to move on soon I hope..

Better than intimidating real babies and their parents certainly.
Anyway as Theo Paphitis (thought I'd use a Millwall icon as you all admire the Millwall mentality so much) would say:
Red that is how i go to virtually every game it was how i went saturday
I did not Hit anyone or throw anything the difference was people that would normally leave at that point when Millwall do their Millwall bit stayed and did not give a flying feck about them and then on the way home did not let them intimidate and bully thats all
people are acting as if we smashed them up and down OKR and bermondsey that is not the case it is not what people are saying or insinuating
people whop were not there or did not see it need to understand this was not full scale violence or large numbers of running battles , there were incidents and they happen every time we play them
the difference was this time no one ran no one was bothered by them in fact most were laughing at them and that drove them more foamy mouthed and bouncy hence the term
we took the piss , nothing more nothing less
a flare so what
a smoke bomb so what
it was all done to irritate them to get under their skin and show them its a word you are not your fathers sons ,, some may be like some of ours our but not in the way they used to be
Fair play NLA. From what I've read on here and other sites (some Millwall), most would agree fella.
I just look back to Millwall in the snow, which remains the best away game I've been to. From what I remember (possibly rose tinted), there was none of this stuff and we properly took the piss in the stands that day as well. Just don't see why it couldn't have been that way again.
It's horrible to admit to but I have a good load of Millwall mates, most are surprisingly good lads. I just think this could be a turning point for future games and really hope that's not the case.
People who weren't there should not comment. They have no right imo.
GreenJnr amd north london are spot on.
There is so much over reaction on here its untrue. The 'plastic wannabe gangsters' on saturday made me laugh. I saw no real trouble and was drinking in weatherspoons by surrey quays shopping centre before and after game with few millwall and charlton mates.
Which is what millwall have done and still did on sat b4 the game
No charlton fans went looking for millwall or fronting up people with kids yet you have chose to ignore this for what reason i dont know
People need to
a stop making it sound like a full grown hoolie battle
B others need to stop comparing thevtwo sets of fans
C understand the difference between taking the piss and violence
D not forget or plead ignorance to what millwall scum have done to your fellow decent as it was put charlton fans for as long as i have followed charlton which is 30 years or more now and from what i have heard the 60 and 70 s were worse

Sorry but what is "this"?
You mean a flare that didn't touch anyone and was going for about ten seconds before being extinguished? And what else - an away support taking the piss out of the home support, which happens every single week at The Den when the 15 year olds start mouthing off.
ramifications ????????????????? where the f++k have some of you been ? dont you remember the last home game where they said they would smash the valley and charlton to bits? or the "friendly at smallwall where they turned up at the valley at 8 pm put the windows through at the club shop and smashed a hairdressers up? as for beatings and stabbings by these c++ts dont you think thats happened before ????? where were u when they use to take the whole ground over and march round stomping on people they recognised ? where were you when they use to turn up at our games and steam in with the opposition ?? or they would turn up on peoples door steps-------------you wonder why some of us hate them ?? and we are supposed to be worried because some twat hrew a flare and a bog got smashed up FFS some of you need to get a life but better still LEARN the history.
I've been reading this thread with interest and didn't really intend to comment but if you want to talk about history, then as an "old-timer" you might want to bear this in mind.
In our 74/75 promotion season, I was a young man and went to a lot of away games. Charlton had quite a "lively" away support that season, frankly mis-behaved at quite a few away games and started to get quite a reputation. I can remember a lot of trouble at Aldershot and Brighton and the away trip to Walsall was one never to be forgotten - I remember arriving at Birmingham New Street and seeing Charlton's finest chase off Man Utd's Cockney reds- at the time one of the most feared bunch of supporters - with ease. That was the start of a never to be forgotten afternoon that even made the Birmingham evening newspapers! And when people talk about large away support, the trip for the last away game of the season to Chesterfield seldom gets mentioned which always surprises me because the special train that went that day was packed to the rafters with South London's finest!
The reason I mention this is I can remember a lot of people saying at the time that the next time we played Millwall it would be interesting. Well it was - but not in the way many imagined. The following season, Charlton played Millwall in an early pre-season friendly in the Kent County Cup and Millwall, who were obviously aware of what was going on at Charlton, came down in force to prove they were still South London's number 1. I have never seen fighting like it at the Valley as that evening as the Millwall scumbags ran riot both inside and outside the ground - after the game was particularly terrifying as anyone who looked even remotely like a Charlton fan got walloped in Floyd Road.
I hope history doesn't repeat itself again and I make no apologies for saying that if some of our fans want to give it large from the comparitive safety of the upper tier at Millwall, then just make sure you know where this can lead to. My fear is that if Millwall do decide to repeat history, then a lot of ordinary Charlton fans who want f**k all to do with this are going to be put in danger. And that frankly is unforgiveable.
Still very proud of our support on Saturday standing up and taking the piss out of those bullies from Bermondsey, and NLA is right, this changes nothing, they will always come and have a pop at The Valley.

"Nothing of any note happened"? - So if the club is fined by the FL for the after-match incidents, you are happy to pay this for them?

The smoke bombs and flares, if kept hold of and not thrown, are fair game IMO and add to the atmosphere.

This really is embarrassing now.

They just did not take the shit that millwall try to impose upon you
.and literally just took the piss
