Flare at the end and trouble

  • I went on Saturday but was glad my 10 yr old chose not to in the end. I didn't really run into any trouble but was mildly worried throughout and would have been much more so if my kid had been with me. People around me and in the Millwall stands constantly calling each other C***s and making wanker signs and cutting throats etc - its just not what I go to the football for.

If other people do, fair enough and perhaps it doesn't matter too much if it's just Millwall because people like me can just give that one a miss. But I can tell you, if it becomes like this for other games you'll see Charlton's support drop like a stone.

Makes me laugh people on here saying, what makes you fit and not fit to be a charlton supporter, get a grip.

Live and let live. If people want to behave like that, let them get on with it aslong as its not effecting you.

It's done now, get on with it

It may not have affected me on Saturday, but there is a possibility it will in the return game.

There will be ramifications and it will be nothing nice. Those Happy Meal hoolichildren are out of their depth and will experience a very rude awakening should they bother to turn up.

If you get smacked in your simple head, don't come snivelling on here.
I'm sorry but who do you think you are? Don't talk to me like your above me.
Clearly stated it wasn't anything to so with me, obviously your simple mind couldn't get past that bit
Greenie Junior the point we are all trying to make is that it DOES affect us all, but you don't seem to understand that.
I understand it, now I've thought about it. But I still think it is a lot of over exaggerating.
Hey Greenie, have you opened The Guardian link above, when you think we are over exaggerating. Oh, & they are only the highlights, there have been hundreds of incidents on top of the above.

I'm sorry, but you & your mates are pretty naive, when you say that all the ultra stuff is just nice & fluffy. Even if that's what you wanted & intended, that is not what ultra style means to nearly everyone else. You sing ultra songs & take in smoke bombs, then don't understand, that Millwall are frothing at the mouth ?

To be clear, I thought our support was brilliant, but not hurling seats & throwing flares & smoke bombs (and I know it wasn't you).

Dont waste your time mate, they've got their moral high heels on now and are dancing around the handbags, leave em to it. Anything that happens anywhere in the football world in the next ten years will now be all your fault. If the mighty wall turn up next year and smash someone on the head that'll be down to you too. What you should have done was sit under your blanket and drink quietly from your flask, then you'd be proper!
  • To those who are talking about the return fixture as if it is going to be some sort of bloodbath....

If the so called crimes commited by CAFC fans on Saturday were bad enough to bring about stabbings, unrivalled violence etc - how comes it didn't happen Saturday after the game.

There were hundreds of Millwall fans there who saw the flare go onto the pitch and they were prevented from attacking Charlton fans by a two foot advertising board/magic forcefield.

So a flare went on the pitch after the game. This apparently puts people's lives at risk so months down the line. Heard it all now.

If they are going stab anyone it would be away from the ground, I doubt anyone will be stabbed come March but I also doubt "Red Division" will be at the front if it all kicks off but then again what time does CBBC start?
  • If nothing was thrown they would still be up for it in the return fixture. being outsung in their own back yard did the damage.

  • We out sing them at the valley in march.
  • I'm confused. Will a lion lick my bollocks or not?
  • Not sure why your associating us with it again when I said it wasn't us. Just cos we are there we're an easy group to blame. So frustrating, to a degree I expected it, but it is annoying. We are all charlton supporters.

We may have different ways of going about supporting our team, be it Sitting, standing, being quiet, shouting loudly, clapping, singing with passion, letting off a smoke bomb.

None of them are any reason to have a go at someone IMO.

I see where everyone is coming from with the throwing things but as I've said, move on. Clogging up the website by digging at our own will not resolve anything

peoples arse holes going 3 months before the return leg

i have said it a million times

MILLWALL is just a fecking word it is not some thing to make shit fly out your arsehole the minute you hear it mentioned

They will do the same they do every time they come here
they will smash the bogs and food areas in the away end they will rip up some seats they will offer out any one who they think they can intimidate some poor innocent fans will get a smack not because of this but because that is what they do and always have and always will

the only difference this time is there will be more focus on those likle minded souls who have annoyed them so certain bars and clubs will be targeted which may happen way before the return fixture anyhow and maybe some of them will get more of a dig than they otherwise would have and maybe a few millwall might find out the same

Some of you didnt like what happend

well i didnt care one bit and do you know what there were a hell of a lot of people like me there that didnt give two shits after the years of them doing what i have just stated above

lets not get this out of perspective we pissed them off because we took the piss in their ground and area ,

we did not smash them up and down bermondsey and the old kent road

what happend was Charlton held their own they didnt run they didnt find them intimidating or as threatening as they have been in the past

and it annoyed them i know this because like others i know some of them but they dont think that they got done and no charlton are saying that.

they are saying the piss was took forget the flare and the seat that was just the cherry on the cake to really wind them up

dont over react they are just Millwall FC not the taliban

  • I half agree with both sides of this debate but im more worried about the mindset of some of the fans moaning who seem to be justifying Millwall coming to stab all the Charlton fans in march(which they wont), i agree that it is not good throwing chairs and the like but im equally pleased that even in a small scale some of our fans gave a little back at that joke of a club who still act like it is the 1970s on mass.

If our fans act like that in the next away game then i will join the moral high ground brigade but lets calm down a little, some people describing the future like it's gonna be the opening scene from Gangs of New York.

That's because that's not what we're about and we had nothing to do with it, how many times do i have to say this
  • Big over reaction here. Millwall is ages away got palace to look forward to next
  • Never saw a flare at a Charlton game before the Ultras turned up. Bit of a coincidence

Some of us have no interest in hooligan bollocks we just want to watch a game of football.

I (and others no doubt) have now probably got to miss a fixture because the stress of watching my back from cowardly thugs will outweigh the "enjoyment" of a game of football.

    Thanks for that.

    Stood up for CAFC?

Bollocks you have. You've just made life a whole lot more unpleasant for decent fans.

Greenie Junior - letting off a smoke bomb is no way to support your team. The Club may well be fined for that and I would far rather they spend money on players than on fines for unruly 'supporters'.
  • and that is the difference Gretna

those fans that are getting slated rightly or wrongly

have been to more games than most on here and none of you have moaned before because nothing happens or nothing that anyone hears about as it is 2 sets of people away from the ground who have a little strictly come pavement dancing

thi is because they aint millwall they are charlton but saturday was enough it was years of the piss taking anorak trainspotting shite talk from muggy blue fans who go to millwall because the word scares them more than it means to them and in return in their 300 strong group they can intimidate others as it makes them feel bigger

It adds to that atmosphere though, it gets everyone going, which in turn gets the players going. Like at Bristol city and it got the fans going at millwall.

Tom-k it is genuinely pure coincidence, I promise you that

i want the flares and the smoke bombs but in future hold them dont throw em (not you lot RD) then maybe some wont be so miserable about it

Letting off smoke bombs is illegal and the vast majority of people do not think it does anything to the atmosphere except making it difficult to breathe. If you need a fog around you to create atmosphere I feel sad for you.

completley agree. i didn't throw any flares or seats but when a millwall fan called me a wanker i called him a c11t. and i'll do it next season and the season after and the season after. i'm not standing silent there and taking abuse off them scum because they have a reputation and they might come down months down the line. however the next away i attend no one will call me a wanker and i won't call anyone a wanker. football fans are people and all people are different. i am one who stands up for himself. if palace is anywhere near as hostile i will be suprised but i hope we are as loud and vocal as that. if millwall come looking for trouble down the valley then it isn't charlton's fault for not taking abuse it is down to millwall being total scum and all the excuses of a flare and that sacred solitary seat won't change that. people are hyping them up to be the third reich and saying they know better blah blah blah

Agreed, but you can bet your last pound that they'll have more in the home end than they normally do.
  • dont agree with you there all you have to do is have to look at the atmosphere at Bristol and millwall when they went off, everyone jumping around singing and stuff.
