I shall rephrase; To notice that your 2 players in the middle of the pitch are tired, and not to do anything to try to improve the situation seems a bit silly to me.

As others have said injuries have limited the options available. Hollands for Stephens at first sight seemed a strange substitution until you remember that Stephens too has had an injury and two games in three days may have put that injury under stress.
WSS - Hollands should have been brought on much earlier is the point im trying to make. He came on far too late to get into the game to help out the team
Hollands could have come on earlier but to replace which one? Pritchard or Jackson?
Fact is that we conceded twice when Hollands game on. All Powell's fault for making the wrong sub but he is a very inexperienced manager who knows far less than me about football so I'll let him off : - (
Started as a good post, but tarnished with a childish little dig at the end.
Its easy for us to judge from the side lines, CP made the change, bringing on Taylor to shore up the defence against Birmingham and we conceded, he did not (at least early enough) yesterday and we conceded. He may have made the decision that whilst his midfielders were tiring he did not want to disrupt the team, that's not criminal its just a judgement call. We all make them sometimes they pay off and others they don't.
I agree with IJC that CP has a lot to learn and he needs to learn quickly, but even the best mangers are in that situation, talk to Man U supporters about Fergusson and they will point out his errors both on the field, in team selection and in the transfer market hence their early departure from the CL last season, same with Wenger. Yes we don't care about Man U or Arsenal, but if those guys get it wrong then you can't expect CP to get it right 100% of the time especially as a new manager.
Just read the thread and pretty much agree with everything jordan_cousin has said. I was calling for Prichard and Jackson to come with around 15 mins too as they looked physically drained. I also agree with the defence Why put 2 players out of position when we have had such a solid back four all season, on another day playing Morrison at right back we will be killed. I know he has no pace but I would quite like to see Jackson play left back, least it would balance the defence up, his experience would see him through. We have had loads of full backs over the years with no pace so can that be a massive issue? And if his not quick enough for full back then surely he is not mobile enough to play in midfield. And no it's not criticising Powell its just an opinion similar to everyone else's who feel he can do no wrong.
I suppose that over the past few years I've grown to value the opinions of some posters more than others. I always read what Scoham has to say. His comments are clearly based on a sound knowledge of the game and he explains football in a way that makes sense to me and he doesn't try to' big himself up' by making disparaging comments about the slow brain processes of the manager and thereby implying his own superiority. Len Glover (see above) also lays out alternative non-personal scenarios which CP would have needed to consider. When I listen to the managers explaining their decisions and choices, there always seems to be a multiplicity of factors, some known, some unknown, that have had to be taken in to account. How on earth do some other posters come to believe that their partially or poorly informed views views are much better than CP's? It truly baffles me.
Just in case anyone in the Boardroom, who may be under the notion that CAFC requires a different manager, is reading this, please let them consider that: Chris Powell is the embodiment of what CAFC is all about. We don't want snarlers and whingers and under-hand wheeler-dealers. We do want integrity, decency, approachability, and, most of all, someone who 'fits' our club. That man is Chris Powell.
The support from the stands last night was superb. Let's do this at every game and let anyone who is thinking of changing things know that Chris Powell is the fans' choice for the stewardship of our football club.
I. How on earth do some other posters come to believe that their partially or poorly informed views views are much better than CP's? It truly baffles me.
can we Not just accept that maybe SCP got it right seeing as we won
No one is saying that we know more then Chris Powell and no one is saying he got it wrong yesterday. All I'm saying is in my opinion the longer we play so many players out of position, and the longer we play players till they are blue in the face, we will get found out more in the long run. Why cant anyone have a different opinion when we win.
I think CP got this right. On sat he moved Solly back to the right as their best winger played down that side. Tuesday he played Solly on the left as their best winger played down that side. Simple. Play our best against theirs. Rest fit in and cross your fingers. Unless we get in loans that's life. CP does what he thinks is best for the team. Several changes or fewer? I thought he would play Morro at right back and was happy with that, but I would have played Cousins at right back. All I do know, is that CP gets it more right than I do as he did Tuesday - we won and I thought Morro did well, albeit with great support from Pritchard.
As for subs, I am amazed at how many times I am thinking we need to change x or y and CP changes it - and earlier than any manager I can remember - and I have been a regular for over 50 years!
Love SCP as manager and would not change him for anyone. We should give him a longer contract than Pardew has got at Newcastle and let him get on with the job of moving our club forward.
I agree nicholas that your point is valid and makes sense i have said so myself in the past
I just find it odd that after what possibly gave everyone there and everyone at home a reason to be joyus today that the posts couldnt wait till tomorrow
Personally i would say he feels almost apologetic at the moment (not saying he should be) - a bit like last summer before our promotion when he had a similar demeanor - he probably doesn't feel the 3 salutes etc is right at the moment - once we've climbed up the table he will have his swagger back i'm sure.
I agree that no one(including me) will get it right 100% of the time - thats football - thats life!
Over the course of a season though, what do you personally think will result in the most points 'saved'; Fresh legs or try not to disrupt the team?
Also, what are your thoughts - apologies if ive missed them above - on the back 4 / Left back predicament
I am an arch critic of late substitutions. On the back four, with the left back injury crisis I think CP has a difficult task, I would not have played Morrison at right back, partly because it did not work at Stevenage last season (So I am told I missed that game as I was standing on the M25 next to my mates totalled car) and because I don't see him as a right back. That then leads to the question of what I would have done. I would not have played ayouth player in this match, so probably I would have started Solly, Morro, Cort and Jacko. In the event that may well have prevented us fighting back, so in hind sight I would have blunted our attacking options.
This is why The FA, The Premiership and The Football League leave me to play Championship Manager

Come on mate you should know by now that football debate isn't allowed anymore. Only sarcastic comments passed of as acceptable with a winky smiley.
I think as a class defender himself he takes it personally when goals go in, especially soft ones. Like he says, a good GD is like an extra point. No doubt he really felt those 2 in the last 2 minutes.
How can people really question his setup in defence, its ridiculous. If Dervite was comfortable enough to play at left back he would have done. As it was, he was not so Solly switched over. Players have input in where they play as well..

I don't know about this Solly playin out of position will turn him into a bad player or hamper his progress. When I have a job and I'm asked to do a slightly different job but still quite similar, the more I do it, the better I get at it. Not saying Solly is a left back, just think he's only gonna get better playing there rather than worse
I love it when people on come up with crap like Powell has a lot to learn, he's a fledgling manager, because he didn't play the formation or make the sub when you think he should have.
How can any of us know better than a guy who has taken his coaching badges, been involved in the professional game for 25 + years, worked under some of the top managers in the game, played for England and been chairman of the PFA. He sees the players in training every week, has staff who analyse their every move and I'm sure would have discussed all this with his "professional" management team.
Football divides opinions and this is a place for voicing your opinion and of course everyone has their own ideas. But "he's got a lot to learn" and that type of comment cracks me up from people who have little of more likely no experience in management.
As for the lunatics on other websites calling for his head... give me strength.
PS I've only been to a couple of games this season and haven't got a Danny who he should be playing where.

He brought taylor on at birmingham to hold on to our 3 points and that didn't work .... Damned if he does damned if he don't... Impossible situation to keep everyone happy , subs too early subs too late , players, formations etc numerous different situations I think its good people discuss this sort of thing but at the end of the day it's only our opinions and SCP's opinion is the one that matters to our progress while he's in charge

What are you talking about? I've not had a dig at Powell, Just stating my opinion on the team. I've never said anything against Powell. So not sure where your getting this crap from.
This thread's hilarious. Its obvious the poster you're all digging out is about 15 - give him a break ffs. Fair play to you IJC - at least you've got an opinion. It's wrong, like, but it's nice to come on here and hear exactly the same as I do in the North Lower around me every other week - almost like having an extra home game. Now, if only I could get ten geezers to cram into my bog for a crafty fag when I go for a piss, get the muppet-looking kid next door to fleece me for seven quid for a pint of cold frothy piss-water and reheated pie, and ask the selection of haircuts hanging around on the corner to start shouting random sexually-inappropriate insults at strangers I'd feel right at home.
Nicholas; 'All I'm saying is in my opinion the longer we play so many players out of position, and the longer we play players till they are blue in the face, we will get found out more in the long run. Why cant anyone have a different opinion when we win'
Exactly the point I have been trying to make.
What are everyones thoughts then, if I cannot make observations about a game in which we won, about the lack of substitions Vs Hull?
CAN I JUST MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I AM FULLY SUPPORTIVE OF CP.

Are you Jordan Cousins' cousin or Simon Jordan's cousin ?
If the latter, it might explain a few things.
