Chris Powell's body language

A few of you have commented on this and I must say it worries me. I would be absolutely gutted if he were to go.

Please can someone put my mind at rest and tell me everything s fine and SCP will be with us for many years to come!

  • Everything is fine and SCP will be with us for many years to come.

I have nothing to back this up with though, just hope.
  • From what I could see from the Far East, he wasn't very animated tonight and unsure whether he really celebrated any of our goals which is SO unusual.

I know the ridiculous 6 mins added time gave the Taffs a lift , just when our lads had played their hearts out , and that the final score didn't tell the full story , but again , thought the gaffer looked "down" at the final whistle. Hope I was misinterpreting his body language and that he was merely feeling as knackered as I was after that rollercoaster...

SO wish I could say with complete honesty that I think the gaffer's position is safe but I'm afraid I can't at this moment in time.
  • Usually he jumps out of the tunnel, I thought after such a big win against a strong team it would be even more of a jump but it was the complete opposite.
Maybe we are looking for some sort of sign or body language and we are all looking a bit too hard.
Got to the stage we are all reading too much into every little thing? I hope so.
  • He didn't celebrate any of the goals until the 5th went in. He even shrugged Dyer off when Haynes scored. It was so noticable. Lots around me were equally bewildered. Personally think he had the look of a man who was at his own wake. Really hope I'm wrong and it was just him under playing the situation.

Well I hope we give TJ and co absolute hell if they dare try to fire SCP!
  • Fingers crossed that Henry has it right.
  • Needed to clarify that I have no insider knowledge and it is hopefully just me being especially nervous about everything Charlton related at the minute.

  • His reaction was very noticeable but it's worth noting how draining that must have been for him tonight and also I think it's been a very tough season both on and off the field.

  • If TJ does fire CP there will should be a riot.
  • don't think theres that much to it,

yes we won but conceeding 8 in 2 games at home in 4 days isin't good enough at any level so he won't be pleased but 3 points is 3 points to me.
  • I left as soon as the final whistle went but hoping there is nothing in this
  • Know way of knowing how true or not those rumours were but SCP bought himself some time at least tonight. How could he be fired after that result. Few players back from injury and a slow creep to relative safety.
  • We just conceded two in injury time making a solid win look nervy. Maybe after the run we've had at home perhaps he didn't want to celebrate too much knowing there's a lot of hard work ahead still
  • Whilst pleased with the comeback from 2 goals down , a much needed win and the 3 points Chris must have despaired at some of the goals we conceded tonight , much work to do , even at 5-2 up with a few minutes to go i thought , i hope we can hang onto this.
  • think there is a bit of 2+2=5 here
  • Trying to remain focused on the touch line and instill calmness in the side? Sven does that quite a bit, and other managers
  • I hope so mate

    Really hope so, AFKA.

Just wondering how soon we should expect a post match interview with SCP on the OS...might get a clearer picture then.

    Me too
  • I must admit after such a difficult time at home i thought he would of given it the signature fist pump from the tunnel at the end. What I saw was a man that looks drained and under pressure! A wimper of a celebration at best! its obvious he's not himself but all we can do is keep getting behind him and driving the team forward like this evening
  • Looked happy before the game chatting with MM....probably drained like the rest of us....so nearly threw it away..........I could not cope without SCP.......

He did the post-match press conf as per normal

  • Was concerned with his body language during the first half, very little animation from the touchline however 2nd half was much more animated, gesticulating and coaching. I think after the run we have had a muted tunnel celebration was appropriate.

Well done to the North Stand who gave him brilliant support throuhghout the game

    This is definitely the case
  • He looked like he was celebrating pretty hard after the third goal.

We're five points clear of the bottom three-if we win at the weekend, and given all our injuries, I'd say that is a pretty good start. Putting personal feelings aside, the board would be mental to get rid.
  • Wouldn't mind knowing what the wave to the directors box was about after the game...
  • Hopefully just a sign of not wanting to get carried away after conceding 4 goals twice in a row at home, but im not gonna be able to stop myself having nightmare's thinking about the worst after reading this and the post match thread.
