TBH, cant see what Elliott is going to bring to the table. What has he done in Business, and what Business acumen does he have. Whenever i see him on TV, he just comes over as someone who doesnt have a full grasp of the English Language yet still wants to come out with the long words. Just smells of a cover-up by existing board to me.

Love this , and I agree. Elliott being interviewed always makes me laugh. Not Chairman material. If the Nigerian story is true it will probably include lowlife like Fashanu. I suspect this is all untrue.
Looks like we're gonna be the first club bought with the proceeds of credit card fraud too! Great!
Stage one Thamesmead was mentioned in a documentary a few years back as the fraud capital of Europe.
Could get a local owner.
I don't understand a word of this.

His group has already inspected The Valley and is also believed to have had access to the club's book and carried out the process of due diligence. A deal could be concluded in a few weeks with the businessman being represented by Chris Nathaniel of the London-based NVA management group. However, sources close to Charlton suggest that there are a few sticking points and a Russian consortium is hot on the heels of the Nigerian led bid. £50m is a good price for Charlton given their London location which usually puts a premium on the price. The club is run on a strong business footing and a number of initiatives such as the Valley Express coach service have built up the fanbase. The training ground at Sparrows Lane covers a large area. Given the government policy emphasis on building houses, it should be possible to get permission to build on all or part of it. The Valley itself is designated for recreational use, but is in a good location close to Charlton Station. The designation could be changed if a greenfield stadium site was found elsewhere in Greenwich, e.g., on vacant land next to the Dome and North Greenwich tube."
First thing I was told 20 plus years ago whilst working at a well known bank. If a customer hands over a very large green passport, be very weary...
what? Look bored & tired?? ;-)
Actually there's a well known bank, whose branch in Fleet Street was regularly the target of systemic fraud attempts in the 80s & 90s. Apparently it was only a coincidence that a certain High Commission was based next door!!

This acquisition by the present owners in my opinion is a very clever business plan. The club was bought at a very low and vulnerable position, at a point where the existing board were not prepared to invest further and it appeared that some deemed themselves more important than others. The most important people in the regeneration of CAFC from the dark days being Richard Murray and Martin Simons who bought this club back to where it belongs and I think we should be eternally grateful. Tony Jiminez and Michael Slater have seized the opportunity to secure a club struggling in the third division with the infrastructure of a Premiership club and fan base that is loyal, family oriented and morally sound. Neither had an affinity with CAFC but are football fans, Tony I think a Chelsea supporter and Michael a confirmed Man City follower, never met them just what I have heard. We have been lucky as they have been sincere in their proposals and employed a legend in Chris Powell to manage the team. This was a tactical move and a gamble but it was obvious the fans would be won over with the appointment and after his first four games the run that followed a noose would have been swinging from the North Stand if messers Dowie, Reed or Pardew had been placed. They gave Chis the opportunity last season to create a Championship side capable of excelling in League One and competing in the Championship hence the lack of activity in this recent transfer market. Sorry to drag on and I might be wrong but the appointment of Paul Elliott maybe another tactical move to put CAFC in the control of people with an affinity for Charlton Athlethic. If this is the case I am quite happy with this situation especially as it is inevitable this club will be sold if the club progresses as business is business and at least we may have hope in whom is at the helm and any takeover should not be held against Tony Jimenez or Michael Slater as they have bought some stability to the club. We don't know who are the potential owners Oriental, Russians, Americans or whoever but there must be something coming our way with recent activity within the club.
Wern't meant to say anything but last week, I had an email from a Nigerian informing me that his very rich friend who happened to be a prince has died and left him a sum of £50m, Of course when asked I gave him by bank details to transfer some over.
Two questions you have to ask? Is he a guy who would have the clubs/the fans best interests at heart should he take the position? Does he have the money? First one I'm pretty convinced of in my opinion, second. Well it's pretty much a no.

Already been said but you don't need money to become a Chairman. Think more in terms of front man working as CEO or closely with a CEO if we in fact had one. Also been said but I will believe it when it's on the OS.
Well like everyone else, I didn't see this coming, and have no better idea what is behind it. I did try to look around for signs of other business interests, and all I can say is that if he has significant business experience away from football he is covering it up very well - and why would he do that? All I found was this "ambassadorial " role for a digital media company, and this football academy.
On the other hand I have to say, reading what he has done, and what he says in public, if Charlton wanted a figurehead chairman, it's difficult to imagine a better candidate. The puzzling thing is that as several people have commented, this does not feel like a Jiminez appointment. Apart from anything else, he looks like a natural ally for SCP. He wasn't afraid to speak up for Ancelotti at Chelsea. Of course, since I've never met Jiminez, it could be that I need to reappraise what I have heard about him, if this indeed is his appointment.
Wyn Grant points out in a tweet that we no longer need a CEO if Elliott is chairman, but that would assume Prothero is ready to work full time. As I understand it, a football CEO's job is consumed by mundane stuff. Can Elliott and Prothero replace Slater, Varney and Kavanagh?
Prague.. I looked at his football Acadamey and noticed the date the compan disolved at 14th October 2012.. co-incidence? (or am i misreading it that the 14th is the date i am looking at it and it has been disolved already? and the date is the current date with current status?

Dn't forget that Protheroes brief was to look at the Cliubs management structure so this my be part of a wider management reorganisation with others coming at different levels and responsibilities being allocated wider.

Thanks Rudders, I went back to have a look and it seems there was an application to have it struck off already in 2011, so your second guess would be right

Some of the reaction on here leaves a nasty taste though.
If this is true and we do get Russians taking us over I would feel ecstatic but until there is clear evidence of this I won't get excited or worried.

Could this be connected?

Tried ringing but his phone had been cut off.
Never saw that coming. . . . . . ;o)
