winner closely followed by parkinson and dowie
  • Les reed good god yes awfull dark times!
  • Airman Brown
  • And dowie whos just got worse since and an awfull pundit
  • curbishley
  • Statistically its Les Reed

Pardew was given 19 games to save us from Relegation from the EPL - Failed
Given a season to get us back up and was backed financially - Failed
2nd season on limited funds to get us up - Failed, Sacked then we were relegated after his departure.

People will say Dowie but the fact is we near enough broke even with his signings, most of them commanded a fee once we sold them, whereas most of Pardew's signings we paid for but ended up releasing. Also Dowie wasn't given enough time, didnt have his own assistant and first team coach and also the players liked him.
  • CP's turning out to be a bit of a nightmare!

you forgot to add that pardew was the man who brought us Parky who made sure the wank team that pardew had assembled and he himself had been coaching finished off our relegation to the third tier with such ease that it still begs the question why seths goat was not appointed
  • I have to say all mentioned are worthy of the crown but I just think Dowie was and is a nob

  • Dowie. The day we got him things just went from bad to farcical!
  • I knew from day 1 Les Reed would be out of his depth, wonder what the players must have thought.
  • Dowie - fifteen years of improvement on the pitch underpinned by sensible financial management, all undone in the space of 1 transfer window and 12 matches. Ugly, cretinous tosser.

Pardew had a decent crack at keeping us in the Premier League, despite inheriting a squad that featured Traore, Faye and Fat Jimmy. He was pretty popular for the half season in the Premier League and the first half of the first season down, then he went bad. There were no high points with Dowie, apart from his departure.
  • Dowie followed by Pards.

    For the oldtimers...Alan Mullery. Disaster.
  • Les Reed & Phil Parkinson.
  • Hope he kept the gun in the holster BA
  • Sorry guys wrong thread!
  • The Palace Pricks, Dowie and Pardew.
  • I think Parky was a long way off from being our worst manager - Les Reed has to be at the top tbh.

In my opinon Les Reed was in a pretty impossible situation, and always felt sorry for him for the vitriol he received. Despite it being very clear that it was not going to work out I always felt that he was a good guy who had the clubs best interests at heart.

Pardew I definitly can't say the same for, and so I'd much rather talk about him disparagingly than someone like Reed.

agreed, Les Reed is a very good coach and understood the club and it clearly meant a lot to him being our manager. Shame he was just useless.

And that the players didnt want to play under him

I think the timing and the situation we were in meant that appointing a coach with no prior management experience was always going to be a disaster and impossible to sell to the fans.

That being said, he didn't help himself with some of his tactical decisions...
  • Alan Mullary
  • Alan Mullery and his spiritual son Alan Pardew in my time by a short head from Dowie.
  • 5-4-1 vs Middlesboro away springs to mind...did he ever think we were going to win starting with a team like this...

Carson, Sankofa, El Karkouri, Fortune, Hreidarsson, Traore, Kishishev, Faye, Holland, Hughes, D.Bent

No attacking wing backs, no attacking midfielder (used Hughes as one).

Worst away trip for me ever.
  • Les Reed & Phil Parkinson.
    Agree with that.
  • Should have this as a

    Dowie vs Pardew
    and
    Reed vs Parky

I know who Muzza would say out of Dowie vs Pardew.

Never felt more sorry for a fella in charge of our club than Les Reed, such a nice fella but obviously 'not' managerial material.
Never liked to hear the vitriol directed at him coming out of some peoples mouths and indeed on this message board from time to time.
He's a gentleman and a very very good coach......... if nothing else.
