iPad

Apologies if this has been done before, im looking to buy an iPad but not sure what storage to buy?

How much space will a movie take and what is the best way to put movies onto the iPad? I would think iTunes are expensive, is there a better way?

Many thanks.

  • Get a laptop.

  • Laptops = better.

I don't care what others say. The MacBook lasts.
  • 32gb wifi
  • Get something with Windows on it, don't be gay.
  • What's wrong with being gay? Or using Apple software which is a much bigger question
    .

You will need storage space that is approximately 18 inches by 12 inches and around one inch in depth.

    HTH.

  • I had the original iPad 64GB and rarely used all of it, and I have a lot of movies on if for my son to watch on long journeys.

Lat week I took delivery of the new iPad and was considering a mallee one, however, with the high res screen it makes sense to have enough room for HD movies so I went for the 64GB again.

You see the difference between the 16 and the 32 is £80, and the 64 is only another £80. So the second £80 increase buys you twice as much memory as the first £80 so I just couldn't resist such a bargain.
  • Was thinking of my little girl using this to watch movies/play games on long journeys as well as at home. Not possible to strap a laptop to the head rest......

Oh I dunno Appy - we strapped a badger to ours once. After that a laptop would be easy.
    ;o)
  • Can you get movies on a badger?

Have got 32gb wifi. They are luxury, lazy items rather than a subsitute for a laptop/PC. Handy to be watching telly and looking at Charlton life, wiki, google etc.

I kicked a separate thread on this a while back in December - http://www.charltonlife.com/discussion/44396/ipad/p1
  • Can you get movies on a badger?
Yeah, but only in black and white.
  • just get her a tamagotchi.
  • Why would you only want 64g when you wouldn't look at a laptop with less than 500 ?
  • Appy - here is a late night movie with badgers.

love how you actually googled badger sex to find that video.

Just got a distorted sense of humour. 'Can you get movies on a badger?' made me look for it. No need for you to watch Television X now you have this clip ;-)

perhaps this should be a 'Would Ya'.
  • Hahahahahahahhaha
  • dont worry i dont bother with television x but late night on the discovery channel aint bad.

  • How did it get to this, dirty buggers!
  • golden rule always get the highest spec you can possibly afford
  • Got an IPad from the outlaws for Xmas. FaceTime is good for keeping in touch with them, and I like the mah Jong app I downloaded. I watch movies on TV so can't help you on that score.
  • Must admit, I just don't 'get' ipads. They look really nice and shiny and all that but what do people actually use them for?

Bargain? Do you realise how cheap memory is? If Apple had decided to add an SD slot you could add 32GB for under £15, instead they make sure the only way to add more memory is to buy one that has more installed, and only for a "bargain" £80 for the additional 32GB. It's not Apple that do this, but memory really is super cheap, yet they feel justified in charging you over 5 times the actual price to give you more memory, and then people actually say it's a bargain, no wonder they can get away with such ridiculous mark-ups!

Going back to the original question, if all you want it for is movies/music/web-browsing then any pad will do. If it just has to be a fruity pad then the iPad 2 has had a big discount now the iPad3 is out. If they're not side by side it's very difficult to see the improvements, and the higher res on the iPad3 won't make any difference to movies (the old res was already beyond HD), nor the web.

This. Not a great deal of return for your money is it?
  • They are mainly used to show wealth, so they are rivals to diamonds, designer handbags and expensive clothing.

Some companies also use them to try and show they are modern and eco friendly by using them instead of paper, even though they need charging from a mains socket, which is fed from a power station that burns gas etc.

If you really desperately need a tablet, buy a tablet laptop that you can either swivel or remove the screen from, that way you cover all bases
  • Get an Asus transformer Prime with docking station.
