  • A new Goalkeeper is a priority when we go up. Hammer is simply not up to the job either in technique, or temperament. He has let in a number of soft goals and cost us points. Last night he was out of his goal way too much - A third of the way up the pitch on the left and right taking free kicks and then struggling to get back to the goal; leaving the goal empty to stop balls going out for a Goal kick and at one point having to be dissuaded from taking a throw in!

He repeatedly allowed Colchester players to run at him in the area, kicking the ball just in time and the gap got less and less until the inevitable happened. It looked as if he was taunting the Colchester players with this action and lost us the game with his stupidity and arrogance and poor technique. He should be dropped and replaced in the summer.

Perhaps we can get rid of Green at the same time? I swear one week he will be stretched off with damage to his hair cut, assuming he ever actually tackles someone! On top of this, last night he seemed to be having trouble kicking a ball higher that four foot!

I am sure that we will bounce back and go up, but think CP will have to have a clear out of some players ( and bring in others!) for us to do well in the Championship. These two top at the top of the list please Chris!

    Thanks for your meaningful insight.

Thanks for your weak sarcasm. Glad you liked what I had to say!
    Sarcastic moi!

    I bow to your knowledge.

Are you part of the coaching team?

Personally, I think you have a point. I'm torn on Hamer & Green on whether they are good/average/poor.
  • yes, nothing went right - just one of those nights - Saturday may be the complete opposite -if we create the same chances I fancy we'd get 2 or 3.
  • I'm genuinely shocked people on this forum haven't broken their jaws, the extent of the knee-jerk reactions we've had to our first home defeat of the season.

Guys, turn the table over, you're reading it wrong; we're actually top

i'm not as excited about hamers distribution as most on here , he can't throw it overarm properly and that is a decent part of the keepers armour that he is missing
there was one unbelievable drilled kick from hand in the first hand which was weighted perfectly to elude the defender right into the path of either Wiggins or Jacko (can't remember which one)-was absolute class from Hamer
Jackson I think, that was superb.

Hamers distribution is first class. So not every ball he throws out or kicks out reaches its intended target but he rarely kicks or throws it out of play. Totally disagree with all the negativity on here about Hamer. The 2nd goal was his first serious howler in a game all season. Not bad going if you ask me. Keep the faith, Hamer is mustard.

He has made other mistakes. The most memorable one, can't remember the opposition, but a shot pretty much straight at him and it sort of span out of his hands and into the goal. Also sent off vs Orient for handling outside the area.

Saying that, I still rate Hamer and I'm not in the "get rid" crowd. He's obviously talented enough and also a confident lad and I think that counts for a lot in between the sticks
  • I don't really care about results now as long as we do the same as the team in second we will be champions, and as Sheffield Utd lost too I'm happy. Still 13 points clear with one less game too play.

  • Hamer will be our No 1 next season, get used to it.

Personally I like him, 100 times better than Elliott was
  • Are people really being slagged off for singing for 90 minutes? Jesus Christ!
  • Wiggy wiggy wiggy wiggy wiggy.

We're Champions and we know it.

If its WSS Hamer song I would be inclined to agree.........

personally I prefer Elliot, but thats a different debate. I thought in the last few games Hamer has looked more solid, with the obvious exception of the bloomer, which all keepers make occasionally. I would have thought that for next season a keeper is not going to be the priority although if Sullivan gets bored and decides to go then we may look at whats available and bring in someone who may add to the position.

Green does worry me as he has been brought for now and the future and I just don't see him doing it at a level higher than this and while I am at it, I think we will need to bring in a replacement for BWP as he has not been able to maintain his scoring form and without it his contribution to the team is questionable.

The days of goalkeepers hanging around in the goal mouth chatting with fans and smoking the occaisonal cigarette are long over I'm afraid. All the goalkeeper coaching nowadays is aimed at keeping them mobile, concentrating on the game and to see themselves as the 5th defender - if you don't have this you will have problems in getting the ball out of defence which is what we had last season and where we have been a lot better this season thanks to Hamer. Given the guy has had a few assists for goals this year perhaps he should be cut some slack for one stupid mistake on Tuesday (and he clearly knows it was a stupid mistake)

for christ sake please please please read my original post. i am not having a go at people singing for 90 mins, but its what they are singing.

they are having a go at people around them for not singing. last week someone right next to em had a few choice words to say to them i.e. 'why dont you shut up', 'we'll sing when we want to' etc. one of them absolutely sh** themselves.like I said they are young pups with no bottle and that is what is so embarrassing.

ive been sitting where i am for the last 5 years. this has only started recently (last 2 or 3 games) and it is starting to get on my nervous and quite a few around me. Like I said on tuesday night another person told them to eff off and so did others around me. Even my mate who came for the first time ‘said who are these annoying tw@ts’.

When they started singing ‘our support is effing shizzer’ that really got people riled.

I like Hamer too but I do wonder how Elliot would have done behind this back four rather than the leaky sieve he was confronted with.

We'll never really know of course but in the 4 games he played this season Elliot had two clean sheets so maybe he's not as bad as some make out.
  • i had to get this off my chest (probably should have started a thread), however anyone in the north upper hear those 3 muppets (around 20 years of age) in the J block singing throughout the whole 90 mins (the majority of the time on their own). was bloody annoying and rather embarassing. i really do feel they are wannabe hard boys. theyve only been doing it for the last 2 or 3 games and im really starting to get peeved off with them.

i have no problem with people singing and supporting their club however when they start having a go at people around them for not singing and chanting 'our support if effing s£$%' it gets on my man tits. even the geezer in front of me yesterday had enough and told them to eff off and i know others around me were getting rattled.

I did read that post before which you told plaaayer to read, and it looks like you actually did have a go at these lads for singing the 90 minutes. Look at the first two sentences you wrote about how it was embarrasing.
I sit a few rows behind these lads, and after chatting to them a few times, they are certainly not 'wannabe hardboys' and just want to get behind the team and as 'singupcharlton' said: "As for 'our support is...', do you not find it contradictory that we sing this to the opposition when our support is quite often the same? That song is pretty much making that point... how can you criticize the oppositions support when you won't put the effort in yourself?".
