Lowest crowd of the season when we lead the division by 13 points!
Airman, there is a lot of comments about low attendance on Tuesday games, I would suggest because we are a 'family club' and by default a lot of kids come to the games, when we have a fixture on school nights attendances will be low. When my kids were younger no way would I take them to midweek games if they had school the next day. I would be interested in the stats on the amount of under 16's STs we have.
that result has been coming on a tuesday night so lets move on and stuff notts county on sat i dont think we actually played too badly ,we had the pressure but not too many real chances colchester defended well and nullified kermys threat in the air (they didnt allow him to run into his jumps ...if that makes sense)i am not going to be popular here but BWP was poor and if we go up SCP has got to make a bold decision re him Some comments abouts stevens ...in my view he had his best game for a long time but does he blend with Hollands ? perhaps not if you concede the first goal its always going to be tricky and i was pleased that the crowd wasnt too negative ..i was suprised it was a poor showing though
All in all defense and attack I thought were fairly spot on but massivly lost the midfield battle, that said we must have put in 20 decent crosses into the box, how they never fell to one of our players is a complete mystery. Our goal should have stood, should have had 2 clear pens, and they should have been down to ten with their players warned yellow carded and warned and then warned some more, in one instance the reff went to get something (a card) out of his pocket the player turned his back, reff realised he'd already been booked and left it, complete and utter shambles. Oh well because of our early and mid season form, and sheff united losing last night didn't really matter losing so much, still we really should be 16 points clear of 2nd now not 13.
Guess we used all our luck up last wknd!!!
Thought our new LM (Anthony Wandsworth (or what ever he's called)) looked good though, cracking goal, could do nothing but applaud it really, stunning strike!

Can any comment on how Wordsworth plays, is he a winger or a younger version of Jackson's LM. What are his strengths & weaknesses?
Enjoyed the game to a certain extent. For the first 20 mins of each half we played some good stuff without much luck, then colchester changed it around a bit and we were far less effective. A great first goal and a cock up by us handed them the win.
I think essentially it was a case of us being out-thought by the Colchester manager making changes to nullify our play.
If we'd not conceded in the 5th minute, the game would have gone very differently.

He looked great going forward but deffensively left a lot to be desired, although think he can easily improve that as he is fairly strong with the ball. Would say he's more of a LM than an out and out winger but deff and LM who plays higher up the pitch, good range of passing and the goal was something fairly special 9From where I was standing)
looks like from the marks i was the harshest critic of the two centre halves last night.
They effectively had one man to deal with and i thought struggled to deal with his physical presence all game, and didn't really know how to play with the other player playing a bit deeper.
This follows on from comments that their players fell over very easily and took a while to get up as well as throwing themselves at players without attempting to get to the ball. Hope this tactic doesn't catch on.
first half i thought we played some really decent stuff when the ball was ON THE FLOOR!
that long diagonal we play 300 times per home game to kermogant doesnt do us any favours. he wins more than his fair share of headers but we never get much from it. when solly had the ball coming forwards a few times, there was decent movement from the front two, they linked up well and we created. It suits BWP so much and Kerm has a great first touch. We need to use this more often.
Green does nothing for me. Sorry, i know this team is the bollocks and i shouldnt be moaning but he is the one thing that disappointed me this season.
Hamer, your right footed...the ball wasnt coming to you that quickly...why did you take a touch onto your weak foot???
fair play to them. they played awful football but they defended well, scored a screamer and looked comfortable second half.
we will still win league comfortably but i dont really enjoy watching us at home that much and that seems strange for a team that only lost their first home game of the season.
solly first half was a joy to watch.
THIS.
Just seen the above posted by ValleyGary and for me it is spot on
Why are people so critical of green?he sets up 2 or 3 against chesterfield and supply's the corner for the Bournemouth goal, also has had several other assists this season, yet people want him dropped for a few bad games!
For me solly was the only good player class above the rest, my main concern is stephans at the moment does not move at all, seems to hide and offers little going forward...also kermo with his flick on's!!wish he would bring the ball down and actually find the right pass rather than just flick it forward without looking.
but it has been a great season 1 loss at home is excellent and we will go up,can't win every game, roll on sat.
i had to get this off my chest (probably should have started a thread), however anyone in the north upper hear those 3 muppets (around 20 years of age) in the J block singing throughout the whole 90 mins (the majority of the time on their own). was bloody annoying and rather embarassing. i really do feel they are wannabe hard boys. theyve only been doing it for the last 2 or 3 games and im really starting to get peeved off with them.
i have no problem with people singing and supporting their club however when they start having a go at people around them for not singing and chanting 'our support if effing s£$%' it gets on my man tits. even the geezer in front of me yesterday had enough and told them to eff off and i know others around me were getting rattled.

We lost to a wonder goal and a blunder goal. The game had draw written all over it, but we just move on as we are still only just top of the league by 13 points.
Also Colchester's number 4 Okuonaghae was really good last night, weren't we going to sign him the summer?

Careful, they are our Ultras! It could be spreading.......
If I were Chrissy I wouldn't mess around with the team too much after one bad result - one reason we have done so well this season compared with others is that we haven't had a tinkerman as manager. Looking at the players at the end they were clearly disappointed - and my guess is there will be a pretty good reaction on Saturday.
Perhaps the exception would be Green - I'm getting pretty fed up with how often the play breaks down when he has the ball - he needs to add the 5-10 yard past to his reptoire of skills at times.

I think I know who you are talking about. I'm sure they are not wannabee hard boys. They are simply trying to get some vocal support from our piss poor attempts at home. We get better vocal support away from about 700, than we do at home, where a lot leave it for others.
I think it's rather harsh when we criticise someone for singing the whole 90 mins.
Also, I think it was them who started the Colchester who gives a F**** at the end. I reckon that if they hadn't, some of our boys would have booed the team off instead of singing them off.
Perhaps, some others might like to sing in support of the team for 90 mins ? Oh I forgot, sorry, we're charlton we don't do that.
Following on from that, I don't like to criticize our own fans but in the same way that players have to be criticized and it's not calling for their heads, so do fans.
People seem to think they only need to sing when the team are playing really well, or when the drummer starts a song off for them. It's called support for a reason. Do you think the players would rather you get behind them when they're in a sticky situation, or just stay silent and wait for THEM to put in all the effort.
Understandably the East and West stands are quiet but I for one expect the North to generate some noise regardless of whether we're winning 4-0 or losing/drawing. The frustrating thing is that often, not even a few blocks of the North are making any noise.
As for 'our support is...', do you not find it contradictory that we sing this to the opposition when our support is quite often the same? That song is pretty much making that point... how can you criticize the oppositions support when you won't put the effort in yourself?

They were younger than that.
Good luck to them, Clearly high on fizzy pop and all excited about singing behind the goal with their mates. It was that sort of stuff at that age that first really got me into going Charlton, not the football on the pitch. Sure, they'll learn that people don't sing constantly for 90 minutes, and don't react very well to being told to sing up, but its all part of the learning curve. At least they weren't booing and slagging players off like others it seems like were.
If they can't do it there, in the central block behind the goal, where can they do it ?

A new Goalkeeper is a priority when we go up. Hammer is simply not up to the job either in technique, or temperament. He has let in a number of soft goals and cost us points. Last night he was out of his goal way too much - A third of the way up the pitch on the left and right taking free kicks and then struggling to get back to the goal; leaving the goal empty to stop balls going out for a Goal kick and at one point having to be dissuaded from taking a throw in!
He repeatedly allowed Colchester players to run at him in the area, kicking the ball just in time and the gap got less and less until the inevitable happened. It looked as if he was taunting the Colchester players with this action and lost us the game with his stupidity and arrogance and poor technique. He should be dropped and replaced in the summer.
Perhaps we can get rid of Green at the same time? I swear one week he will be stretched off with damage to his hair cut, assuming he ever actually tackles someone! On top of this, last night he seemed to be having trouble kicking a ball higher that four foot!
I am sure that we will bounce back and go up, but think CP will have to have a clear out of some players ( and bring in others!) for us to do well in the Championship. These two top at the top of the list please Chris!
