charlton fans crying , now there's a surprise

they're doing the best to give it evey chance of being on

i mean imagine the deluge of tears if they called it off yesterday and this morning things had warmed up and it was playable

this is winter and this is what can happen, yes it is a pain but all this slagging of chesterfield makes us sound like helmets ....oh hang on......
  • From what I hear expect bad news.

  • i aint a tin pot club , they are doing their best to get it on obviously, those on trains are stuck the most but if you are driving you can wait Chesterfield aint that far away
Coaches have already left. Nothing will change in an hour. Lack of news from Chesterfield is pathetic. We are relying on our own club to tell us, which quite frankly, is ballcocks.

  • This is a disgrace. They should be providing some sort of update. If the game gets called off later on e.g. 10.30, then it is appalling.
No calling a boxing day match off about 40min before KO is a disgrace, oh wait a min...that was us wasn't it...

As AFKA said above, its only really this season matches have been called off earlier and earlier, which is a good thing. Finally football clubs have started listening to the fans
    Glad someone else remembers this.

All I am pointing out is that they do not say WHEN the inspection is.
Not asking for miracles - just a statement to say an inspection will take place at ? time.

e.g. Tranmere are inspecting at 10:30

Chesterfield are not communicating to the public (in the age of Internet/Twitter/Facebook etc) basic information about the match.

This is maybe because they think anyone who is interested lives around the corner from the ground. This makes them a tin pot outfit.
  • You don't know that nothing will change in an hour. I've a feeling we will have confirmation shortly of a postponed game anyway. Just a hunch from what our groundsman has said.
  • And certain people wonder why our away travel numbers are pathetic? :-0

Pitch inspection by the match referee coming up in the next 30 minutes. Overnight temperatures down to -10 not helpful. Update to follow

  • Just arriving at St Pancras now for the 10:55 so may have timed this just right, no moaning about Chesterfield from me, its a no win situation for them really.

Better to have 1000+ whinging addicks who are going Ooh ah or 30 odd loyals taking it in their stride? You can have your club back next week fellah when we all stay at home ;-)

I remember the oldham game called off 40 minutes after kick-off time, due to the fog that time.

It's -4C in Sheff at the minute. Just had a job starting my car.

Yeah cos there won't be 6500 home fans at the game today.
  • As soon as you get a ref involved common sense goes out of the window . They nearly always cancel. It was always going to be the case.
  • I remember going to Port Vale in the 1970's before 'Tinternet and Twitter etc. We left home in bright sunshine travelled for around 8 hours to arrive in a snowstorm only to find that the match postponed signs up on the gate. That's the way it was in those days but we just got on with it

    Well there's a surprise .
  • Glad we didn't set off.
  • effing disgrace. a f*cking idiot couldve guessed that yesterday. Watched BBC Weather this morning and they said it was the coldest night of the winter. How on earth they thought the game could be on when last week was off at 9am. Disgraceful that they have left it so long to make the decision. Arseholes, build themselves a brand new ground without undersoil heating and then ponce about making decisions whether to cancel or not.
