just called them, official ref arriving early for a 10.30 pitch inspection. Told them that was piss poor but it wasn't the girl on the phones fault so I went easy on her.
My guess is that CFC are confident about getting the game on but are understandably cautious about putting anything out saying so. There should be something confirming the facts though.
This sort of situation requires decisiveness early on, not pontification. Shades of poxy Rochdale. There should be fines for clubs that call off fixtures after away fans have set off. End of.
But to be fair- if you assess it and think it is possible to get it on -what do you do? It may be 30/70 or 40/60 but do you just call it off? If the answer is no, what more can Chesterfield do?
The thing is, the later they leave the pitch inspection, the more likely the game will go ahead....its a very difficult balancing act....I would suggest they think the pitch is ok and that in an hour or so it will pass the inspection
I take that view too Robert. Looking out of my window across Chesterfield it looks extremely frosty, more so than the last 3-4 mornings, but the club seem confident.
Where's Redmidland. We need his physic balls to let us know whether the game is on or not. Get your Mrs polishing, defrost your balls and let us know, now.
Problem is the internet is pretty rubbish when you start travelling up north , guess i will have to keep the radio on, was hoping we'd find out on Sky Sports news before we left , loads of other games cancelled , as per usual all comes down to money, Chesterfield will not want this re arranged as they know people won't be able to make a midweek away game & will want a refund.
According to our Football League show up here they said that the home team have to pay travel and hotel costs of the away team if the game is postponed.
This is a disgrace. They should be providing some sort of update. If the game gets called off later on e.g. 10.30, then it is appalling.
No calling a boxing day match off about 40min before KO is a disgrace, oh wait a min...that was us wasn't it...
As AFKA said above, its only really this season matches have been called off earlier and earlier, which is a good thing. Finally football clubs have started listening to the fans

Noo good for me, if this game was at the valley i think it would of been off already.
CFC cannot win. If they called the game off yesterday and the weather relented then that would have been wrong. If they leave it to later this morning then its too late and people have started travelling, again they would be wrong.

I don't think money will play any part of the decision making process. We'll make plenty from Wembley.
As above we can't win really. Only issue I have is lack of clarity re inspection time.
Decieded not 2 chance it! Going 2 bluewater instead n then nice meal hopefully wont get any grief on tuesday!!! Any way couldnt have her saying 'told yer so' no way could i give her that satifaction.
i aint a tin pot club , they are doing their best to get it on obviously, those on trains are stuck the most but if you are driving you can wait Chesterfield aint that far away
Comments
I'm still at home planning to get the 11.55 , so I hope for news in the next half an hour.
An indication that this division is full of tin pot clubs and we will be well rid of it.
Keeping it a secret helps nobody.
