My ex-boss is an Argyle fan and he has just about every programme ever produced for their games. He reckoned his most valuable ones were the half a dozen or so he had for a cup replay against Man U. Don't bother looking for it in the record books because it never took place - Argyle got dicked in the first match. But because the replay would've taken place the following Tuesday the club had gone to the trouble of getting a programme ready to roll and the printers had produced an initial test run for proof reading, etc, with the rest ready to roll if and when needed.
He went to do some work for the printers many years later and when the fella there found out he was an Argyle fan he gave him a box of various odds and sods they had laying about the place for nish - including the "phantom" programmes.
I live near the ground, and have just seen quite a few people at the station, and others walking down Charlton Church Lane, who didn't know it had been called off.
I thought all involved had done a good job in getting an early decision this morning, but some people obviously didn't realise the need to double check (assumed we had undersoil heating?)
Heard one bloke say he set off at 10.30am - so about an hour after it was confirmed that it had been postponed...
Has Upton Park got under soil heating? Or would pressure from the OB/Sky mean that the game went ahead? There's no way that would have been replayed on a Tuesday night.
It was never an option when we moved back as we hardly had the cash to open the Valley back up, and it's something we should of done in hindsight in the Premier League. But we didn't so it can wait till we've got some serious money
I would have thought that we could afford something now...........undersoil heating or new covers etc etc. Maybe something for the new owners to think about, especially if we are looking good for promotion.
It can be even more frustrating when a club has invested in undersoil heating and finds the game is called off because the areas around the stadium are frozen and considered dangerous.
Saying we should've had undersoil heating installed when we went back to The VAlley is a bit like saying we shoul've also increased the capacity to 20k+ from the off.
Of course we should. But who was gonna pay for it?!
You and a few others know that Bart but the rest of us don't, I for one haven't a clue what The Jackpot Team are, where they are or what they do......didn't even know there was such a thing. Besides Bart........you know yourself that in the past duff info has been passed out re postponments resulting in some significant confusion.........just saying that it's 'always' best to leave it to be confirmed on the official site and I hope you and the rest of the guys at CL agree with that notion, for a number of obvious reasons.
You don't know what a jackpot ticket is? I haven’t been able to regularly attend the valley for over 3 years now but still know exactly what he meant. Come on, accept you made a mistake and apologise to the guy.
If that tent thing we used to have hadn't gone mouldy the match would have been fine. You would have thought that something like that would be designed not to go mouldy! Or didn't we look after it properly? Does anybody know more about this out of interest?
Trying to put a positive spin on it by thinking it' s another Tuesday I can duck out early to 'work from home' just make sure it's before the end of March as I'm away on business and already missing Orient (and CatJnr's birthday
Travelled up from Cardiff on the cheap train so was somewhere between Reading and London when I heard confirmation of the postponement. Ended up in the pub on the ales listening to stories about Sam Bartram so it wasn't all bad.

Bad luck Ash.....been there and done it a good few times over the years.
Well done eddie , was a pre warning for those who didn't believe and for those who wanted to believe an early heads up
We've had some people make mistakes on the match thread before in the past by claiming fake goals , so accidents can happen but a sorry never goes a miss

With undersoil heating, the game today would have definitely been on.
And all the catering and support services must still be paid for.
Anyone want 3,000 Charlton v Rochdale programmes, mint condition?
Make me an offer, Offy?

True story that.
